Abstract

AbstractThe empowerment for poor urban society by TAABAH includes three concepts: objectives, strategies and models of empowerment. The purpose of this study is to describe the concept, implementation and results of the program of empowering the poor urban society by TAABAH in Ledhok Timoho, Balerejo 50/05 Mujamuju RT, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta (DIY). TAABAH was founded as a media and agencies that facilitate social problems experienced by the poor and wanderers in the region of DIY. This research uses qualitative research methods, descriptive by conducting observation toward objects and interpreting the description into words. The results of this research show that the empowerment by TAABAH are firstly in the tangible form such as Gajah Wong school, trash bins and others, and secondly in the intangible form such as the independence character the community based business.AbstrakPemberdayaan masyarakat miskin kota oleh TAABAH ini meliputi tiga konsep: tujuan, strategi dan model–model pemberdayaannya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan konsep, implementasi dan hasil program pemberdayaan masyarakat miskin kota oleh TAABAH di Ledhok Timoho, Balerejo RT 50/05 Mujamuju, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta (DIY). TAABAH didirikan sebagai media dan lembaga yang memfasilitasi permasalahan sosial yang dialami kaum miskin kota dan kaum jalanan di wilayah DIY. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, yaitu pengamatan suatu obyek dan menginterprestasikannya dalam uraian kata–kata. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberdayaan yang dilakukan oleh TAABAH yaitu: pertama, hasil berbentuk material seperti adanya Sekolah Gajah Wong, bak sampah dan lain–lain. Kedua, hasil berbentuk kemandirian seperti adanya usaha bagi masyarakat.
