Abstract

Social mapping of coastal communities in TWP Padaido was expected to provide a preliminary picture of the living conditions of the communities in coral reef management priorities location of COREMAP program. This study seeks to collect informations mainly from the focus group discussion (FGDs) and the study of literature both in Biak Numfor and Jakarta. The findings showed that “the three furnace system” e.g. the role of traditional leaders, churches, and government agencies are very dominant in influencing fisheries management rules. In TWP Padaido, the government through the program COREMAP primarily involved in providing policy support for implementing local regulations. In general, traditional systems have a positive impact on society such as sasi. This system can avoid disputes in the resources uses and provide a better incomes for fishermen in TWP Padaido.

Abstract

Aquaculture is one of the important chain in fisheries bioindustry development. Aquaculture is a production unit that can sustain availability of animal protein of fisheries commodity, both raw materials nor food for consumption. In the implementation, aquaculture system generates considerable organic and anorganic wastes, consisting of metabolism products, residual foods, feces, chemical residues, and others that cause water quality deterioration and disease outbreaks. As a result, aquaculture is considered as a potential polluter and a cause of degradation of the aquatic environment. Bioremediation is an integrated and complex system of environmental management program. It is done by using a macro or microorganism and can also by using some combination of them that specifically target particular pollutants. This short communication attempts to describe and elaborate bioremediation present status and future prospect for sustainability of aquaculture system development

Abstract

Sea Cucumber is one of the potential of fisheries and marine Bangka Belitung. During this time, sea cucumbers used as food or processed products. In fact, sea cucumbers are known to contain active ingredients that can be used steroids for a variety of purposes. This study was conducted to determine the potential of the existing sea cucumbers in the waters of Bangka and analyze potential bioactive compounds terkadung steroids for tilapia sex reversal. Based on the results of research conducted in Cape Mount acquired a dominant species of sea cucumbers are coral sea cucumber (Holothuria nobilis), sea cucumber sap (leucospilota H.), sea cucumbers and red chest (H. edulis). After testing the qualitative potential steroid test Lieberman Burchard color visualization obtained positive results for the three types of steroids are the sea cucumbers

Abstract

Ketawai Island located in Bangka Belitung Province and includes a small island in Central Bangka Regency. Attention to seagrass ecosystems in the waters Ketawai is still lacking, thus causing more and more activities that threaten the sustainability of seagrass ecosystems. Data seagrass ecological information needed in order to dig up information about the presence of seagrass in quantitatively on the ketawai island of Bangka Island Central. This research was conducted to know the structure of seagrass communities in the waters of the island of Bangka Regency Ketawai Central by measuring the influence of environmental factors that affect the physical and chemical water seagrass ecosystem at research sites. Method of determining the sampling point using a purposive sampling method and chemical physical parameters measured water temperature, salinity, pH, current, brightness, and depth. Species seagrass are found consisting of 6 (species), namely Enhalus acoroides and Thallassia hemprichii, Halodule uninervis, Cymodocea rotundata, Syringodium isoetifolium, and Halodule pinifolia. Seagrass diversity in the waters of the island Ketawai categorized with low until medium of 0.7160 to 2.0886, the value of seagrass categorized as very high uniformity with a range of 0.7160 to 0.9044, and the dominance of lowcategorized as high with a range of 0.2622 to 0 , 6835. The pattern of distribution of seagrass species Enhalus acoroides seagrass, Thalassia hemprichii, Halodule uninervis, and Cymodocea rotundata have value uniform distribution pattern and clustered distribution pattern is a type of seagrass Halodule pinifolia and Syringodium isoetifolium. Results of measurement of physical parameters and water chemistry at each station showed that seagrass species are able to grow in accordance with environmental conditions such as temperature, salinity, brightness, pH, depth, currents and the substrate is quite suitable for seagrass growth

Abstract

Bangka Island is one of the biggest tin mine source land. Tin mining activities in Bangka Island made some environmental problems. The impact of tin mining are some critical areas, Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) and mine pit ponds in Bangka Island. The purposes of the research were to isolate and to screenzink-accumulating and copper-accumulating bacteria, and to identify the bacteria from post tin-mining pit ponds. Sampling was conducted in two locations (stations) in Rebo Village, from 0 and 5 years old post tin-miningpond aged. The sampling used purposive random sampling method. The research measured three parameters: the level of Zn and Cu concentrationsdecreasing, dry weight cell of bacteria, the number of bacteria cell, and pH changing of medium. Research has resulted 40 isolates from 17 genera. Stomacoccus sp. has the highest Zn leveluptake (11.07 ppm or 32.56%) and it has the highest dry weight cells (4.8 mg). The bestCu-accumulatingbacteria was shown by Serratia sp. Serratia sp could accumulate 25,2 ppm or up to 70,99% Cu. The observation showed that Serratia sp. had the highest cell biomass (13,87 mg). The bacteria which could accumulate 2 kind of heavy metal Zn and Cu wereAcetothermus sp. (7.86 ppm Zn and 7.7 ppm Cu); Sarcina sp. (10.63 ppm Zn and 7.1 ppm Cu); andSacharococcus sp (3.84 ppm Zn and 11.8 ppm Cu). These bacteria have potential to decrease both of heavy metal kinds: Zn and Cu from post tin-mining pit ponds.

Abstract

Demersal fish were identified to 105 species with lower abundance. For management process, which includes assessment necessary biological data, these fish populations and habitat. Opulasi biology data are examined in this study include the size of the structure, length weight relationship and growth. Analysis of the data distribution approach frequency distribution (Walpole, 1992), length weight relationship (Snedecor, 1967), the growth method Sheperd (Sparee, et al, 1994). It is shown that most fish are fish Leiognathus smallest (5.2 mm), the longest fish Abalistes stellatus (335 mm) and is the most dominant Upeneus asimetricus (70-185 (122.84 ± 18.53)). A total of 63% including negative allometric and isometric rest. Also relatively slow growth rate, which indicates that the fish populations that the pressure on fish resources is higher
