Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has stopped community activities. Since last March, various aspects of life in this country have been suspended animation to remote areas including Jambi Province. The stretching routine that fades during the corona pandemic has slowed down the economy. In Jambi, the indicator for the decline in the economic graph can be seen from the shift in the value of inflation / deflation, which reflects movements in the prices of goods / services on the market. A horticultural commodity that is widely developed and is one of the people's needs is red chili. This has resulted in the level of demand for red chili that continues to occur, and at certain times the price of red chili has increased, for example in the new year or during the Eid al-Fitr. This study aims to see the development of the price of large red chilies and curly red chilies and to analyze the differences in price fluctuations of large red chilies and curly red chilies in the city of Jambi. This research was carried out during the Covid 19 pandemic. The study focused on the description of the price of large and curly red chilies in the Angso Duo market, the Talang Banjar market and the Simpang Pulai market. The data collected is a time series in the form of data on the price development of chilies from January to June 2020. The data collected is secondary data in this study, obtained from literature and related agencies, namely the Department of Industry and Trade, Market Service, Central Agency Statistics. In this study using a desk study data collection method. The results showed that in general at the beginning of 2020 there was a difference in the price of curly red chilies in Jambi City from Rp. 40,467, - / kg and there was a decrease to Rp. 15,647, - / kg in June with a decrease of about 61%. This price reduction also applies to large red chilies, which decreased by 55% from Rp. 30,500, - / kg in January to Rp. 13. 647, - / kg in June. The coefficient of variance of large red chilies is 0.38 while curly red chilies are 0.40. The coefficient of variance in plain view shows a difference where the coefficient of variance of the price of curly red chilies is higher than the coefficient of variance of the price of large red chilies. but statistically these two variance coefficients do not show a significant difference.

Abstract

The research was conducted with the aims as the operation describing of garlic market, garlic price and determining the duration of time required  to restore its normal price. The type of data was secondaries data with applying a deststudy  collection method. Data were analyzed descriptively equipped with a single sample Chi-Square non-parametric statistical test. The results of the study showed that The operation of the Garlic engaged several department e.g. Jambi Province Industry and Trade Service (Disperindag), Ministry of Trade of  the Republic of Indonesia, Jambi Province Food Security Service, and Indonesian onion and tuber vegetable business association (Bahrindo). A total of 3.2 tons of imported garlic were distributed to the wholesale level at a price of Rp. 22,000 per kg, so that the price at the consumer level was Rp. 32,000 per Kg. The lowest average daily price was Rp.18,000 per Kg (in January) and the highest average price was Rp.46,419 per Kg (in May). In the period  January to May, the average price increase reached 157.8%, while the decline in May-December was smaller than the previous increase of only 65.9% (Average price in December was Rp.25,800 per Kg). The price of garlic after market operations continued to show an increase not only due to the presence of Ramadan and Idul Fitri, but also the supply of garlic imports was too slow. The highest price fluctuation occurred in May where the price range was Rp.70,000 per kg (Rp. 30,000 to Rp.100,000 per kg). The time required to return the price of garlic in the field to the normal price set by the government was 50 days or nearly two months from the started periode of market operations.

Abstract

Farming is an activity that is generally done by a man. Women as auxiliary workers who support the cultivation process. Women who work as farmers are indeed common and are mostly in rural areas. However, the contribution of women workers must be calculated in terms of time and income considering that in the process of cultivation many women workers are needed. The existence of female workers in Pegantenan Village makes it easy for farmers to carry out farming cultivation processes from pre-planting to post-harvest. Indirectly will contribute to family income. The purpose of this study was to analyze the decision-making factors in becoming a female labour and analyze the role and contribution of women farmers on household income. The analytical method used was  multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that family income factors, the number of family dependents and the distance from the house to the rice fields influenced the decision of women to work in the process of crop cultivation. While the contribution of farm woman's income was 27.98% of the total household income.

Abstract

Research was carried out in Pudak Kumpeh Ulu village, Muaro Jambi District. Its  goal was 1). Describing the female's role in the pond's catfish  farming. 2). To Calculate  amount of working duration of  female and male in   catfish   farming in a pond. 3). Analyzing the contributions of female's working duration on  a catfish farming in a ponds. The research method   used a survey method. It also used a primary and secondary data, with cross section data type based on ratio scale measurement. The population were   amount of housewife who did an  fish enlargement of the catfish farming in a pond. There were 33 Samples  that  chosen randomly ones. The descriptive analysis method was used in this research.  The results showed that : 1). The role of female on the catfish farming in the pond  showed high enough category, females were almost completely involved in pond preparation activities (drying ponds, weaning, fertilization and water giving), seed spreading, feeding, pond-  cleaning, and harvesting. 2). The everage  of female's work duration on   the catfish farming in the pond e.g.  31.48 hours/period in the pool preparation activities (pool drying, sowing, fertilization and water giving), 4.12 hours/period in seed spread, 338.18 hours/period for feeding, 30.91 hours/period in  pool-  cleaning, and harvesting for 3.36 hours/period. 3). It was  91.17% contribution of female's work duration on  the catfish farming in the pond  and the remaining as men work duration was 8.83%

Abstract

Price fluctuation is a common phenomenon that occurs in agricultural products, including corn commodities. The price fluctuation of corn commodity will affect the corn farming condition. If the price of corn falls, the income of corn farmers will also decrease. However, if the price of maize increases, the income of corn farmers will also increase. This study aimed to determine the impact of maize price fluctuations on the welfare of maize farmers in Jambi City. This study used the income and costs analysis method and builds econometric equations for income. This income is an indicator to measure the welfare of farmers. The results showed that the factors affecting the income of maize farmers were seed prices, corn production, maize prices, fertilizer prices and medicine prices. Corn price fluctuations would have an impact on the welfare of corn farmers. Because the statistical value of the price of maize had a significant effect on the income of corn farmers as an indicator of the welfare of corn farmers. If the price of corn rises, the welfare of corn farmers will also increase or vice versa.

Abstract

The increase in exports of Indonesian rubber products is the key to the success of the rubber product downstream policy to gain added value and foreign exchange. The export market for rubber products in ASEAN5 is competing with similar products from East Asia. As an exporter, Indonesia must focus on strengthening competitiveness and exploiting the potential market in ASEAN5.The purpose of this article is to describe the competitiveness and development potential of the Indonesian rubber product market in ASEAN5 countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines). The analysis that describes the competitiveness of Indonesian rubber products uses the RCA method and market share. Analysis of the position and potential for market development of Indonesian rubber products using the Export Product Dynamic method. The competitiveness of Indonesian rubber products in ASEAN5 markets is quite varied. Indonesian rubber products have a relatively strong competitiveness value in the Singapore market, but weak in other ASEAN5 markets such as Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. Indonesian rubber products compete fiercely with similar industries in importing countries and major competitors from East Asia (China, Japan, South Korea). The clusterization shows that Indonesian rubber products have a potential market in Thailand, although their competitiveness is relatively weak but in a rising star market position. The market potential in Singapore and the Philippines is less potential, but has relatively strong competitiveness in Singapore and a falling star market position in the Philippines. Indonesian rubber products have no potential in Malaysia and Vietnam.
