Abstract

Leaking ponds based on soil is often a problem in shrimp farming. This can trigger a potential increase in production costs, so that vaname shrimp farmers can experience losses. One solution that can be sought to prevent leakage of ponds based on soil is soil stabilization, namely by adding additives to the soil in the form of soil stabilizer liquid. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of providing soil stabilizer with a chemical base that has polymer ionic bonds in the soil of the vannamei shrimp (Litopeneaus vanamei) culture container. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with two treatments, namely control and treatment with the addition of soil stabilizer fluid with the same dose, each with four replications. The research was carried out through four stages, namely the stage of testing soil properties, making soil samples, Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) test, and soil permeability. The results of the treatment with soil stabilizer fluid had an effect on the permeability of the sample soil. The control coefficient value is 4.94 x 10-7, while for the sample soil treatment, the average value is 2.62 x 10-7. Based on the results of statistical tests, the results were significantly different from the treatment soil. The pressure strength test after being tested using statistical analysis did not differ between treatments. The addition of soil stabilizer can reduce the value of soil permeability. Provision of soil stabilizer can reduce the value of permeability up to 47%. However, the addition of the soil stabilizer did not produce a significant difference in pressure strength..

Abstract

.  Cinnamon leaves have properties as lowering blood sugar levels, inhibiting bacterial growth. Cinnamon traditional medicine contains the largest component of chemical substances, namely cinnamic alcohol, coumarin, cinnamic acid, sinamaldehyde, anthocinin and essential oils with sugar, protein, simple fat, pectin and others. Furthermore, it is said that cinnamon has antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, antioxidant, antitumor, blood pressure lowering, cholesterol and has low fat compounds. The dominant polyphenolic compound in cinnamon leaves is from the aldehyde group, which has insulin-like activity and antioxidant activity.  This study aims to determine the compounds contained in cinnamon leaves and antibacterial and toxicity testing of cinnamon leaves (Cinnamomum burmanni) was carried out to determine the effect on the mortality rate of Artemia salina Leach larvae. The results of toxicity testing of cinnamon leaf extract are known to be non-toxic and have an LC50 value of 128.6 ppm.  From the results of antibacterial tests of cinnamon leaf extracts with methanol, ethyl acetate and N hexanes solvents, it is known that the highest inhibition is in leaf extracts using methanol solvents with a yield of 12% and inhibition of 5 mm, while phytochemical tests of cinnamon leaf water extracts contain Alkaloids, tannins, saponins and flavonoids, triterpenoids and flavonoids.

Abstract

Feed for fish is one of the main factors determining the survival of fish to achieve normal life. The feed design was prepared as a test pellet application in catfish (Clarias gariepinus B) experiments. This study aims to analyze converting palm meal and cow dung into maggot (Hermetia illucens) and its organic media as fish pellet feed. The occurrence of pellet raw materials is processed from fermentation of oil palm meal (BKS) and cow dung (KS) during the life cycle of BSF (Black Soldier Fly) fruit fly 21 days. The design used was a Complete Random Design of 4 treatments and 3 repeats, with the implementation of treatment A (BKS 100.00% : KS 00.00); B (BKS 50.00% : KS 50.00%), (BKS 75.00 % : KS 25.00%) and (BKS 00.00 % : KS 100.00%). The results of this study were variable parameters for the average weight and length of the best maggots in treatment A (0.25 g / head) and (1.54 cm), the lowest in treatment D (0.18 g / head. and 0.95 cm). Maggot biomass production was also highest in treatment A (157.33 heads/2.5 kg substrate) and lowest in treatment D (89.00 heads/2.5 kg substrate). The bioconversion value of maggot into ESE organic matter (organic substrate efficiency) was highest in treatment A (6.29%) and lowest at D (3.56%), the residual value of ESE bioconverts was highest D (56.60%) and lowest A (45.39%). The pellet production results from maggot biomass and the best organic media were treated respectively A (564.33 grams), B (486.67 grams), C (367.00 grams) and D (362.33 grams).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of two lipid sources dosages on the digestive enzymes activity and growth of Kelabau (Osteochilus melanopleurus). In this study, there were five treatments and three replicates in a completely randomised design (CRD). In this investigation, the following dosage ratios of fish oil and corn oil were used as treatments: A (100%:0%), B (75%: 25%), C (50%:50%), D (25%:75%), and E (0%:100%). The experimental fish had initial average length of 5–6 cm and weight of 2.8–3.6 g. Fish were reared for 45 days in plastic tanks measuring 34.3 cm x 38 cm x 31.5 cm using a recirculation system. Each tank was filled with 25 liters of water and the fish stocking density was 20 fish/tank. Fish are fed twice daily on an at-satiation basis, in the morning and the evening. Data analysis was carried out using the analysis of variance (Anova) with a confidence level of 95% and continued with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The findings demonstrated that the activity of digestive enzymes (amylase, lipase, and protease) was significantly (P<0.05) impacted by the differences in the content of the two lipid sources, with an increase in the percentage of corn oil causing an increase in the activity of all digestive enzymes. Conversely, neither growth nor specific growth rate were significantly affected (P>0.05) by the variation in the percentage of the two lipid sources. But in contrast to the other treatments, treatment A resulted in more growth. The reason for this could be because the ingredients were adequate to meet the fatty acid requirements for Kelabau fish growth, therefore the fatty acid addition was no longer necessary.

Abstract

The unusual body shape of jelawat fish fry can inhibit growth due to limited foraging movements and increases the risk of being preyed upon by healthier fry (cannibalism). This abnormality problem is usually only discovered when the seeds are around 1-2 months old. Increasing water levels can speed up the use of energy for finding food and breathing, causing more of the available energy to be used for movement rather than growth. This inhibits bone formation and body growth, causing abnormal fish growth. The aim of this research is to determine the optimal water level to increase the growth of jelawat fish seeds (L. hoevenii Blkr). This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 different Water Height Treatments (A = 15cm; B = 20cm; C = 25cm; D = 30cm), and each treatment was repeated 3 times. The results of the research showed that water level had a significant effect on the growth of jelawat fish seeds. The optimal water height is 25 cm, with an abnormality rate of 1.05%, absolute length growth reaching 3.15 cm per fish, absolute weight growth of 0.55 grams per fish, and survival rate of catfish fry reaching 99.5%.

Abstract

The research was carried out aiming to report for the first time the presence of Oreochromis niloticus on Belitung Island (Indonesia), updating the invasion range of this species. The presence of non-native fish can have a negative impact on aquatic species communities through competition for resources, predation, hybridization, habitat modification, disease transmission (infection or parasitism), and genetic effects. We carried out an expedition to obtain O. niloticus specimens on January 20 and 25 2023, around six O. niloticus specimens were caught in the Lenggang River, Lenggang Village, Gantung District, East Belitung Regency, Belitung Island, Indonesia. Results from observations of meristic and morphological characteristics led to several specimens collected on Belitung Island being identified as Oreochromis niloticus. Discovery of O. Niloticus in the Lenggang River, as a new record representing the species' invasion range approximately 226 km to the east of Bangka Island. The discovery of this species contributes to understanding the extent of expansion and invasion of O. niloticus in Indonesia. This information is very important for classifying and determining river conservation strategies, as well as for planning efforts to protect ecosystems, especially from non-native species that have the potential to become invasive species.

Abstract

Feeding management is a very important factor in fish farming activities. Adding prebiotics to feed is an effort to increase the availability of nutrients in feed and fish health. This study aimed to determine the effect of sweet potato flour in feed on hematological parameters and nutritional coefficient values of sangkuriang catfish. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments 3 repetitions with the dose of each treatment, namely treatment 1 (0% sweet potato flour in feed), treatment 2 (1% sweet potato flour in feed), treatment 3 (2% sweet potato flour in feed), and treatment 4 (3% sweet potato flour in feed). Maintenance is carried out in a plastic container with a volume of 25 liters of water for 30 days. Feeding according to treatment was carried out three times a day in the morning, afternoon and evening using the at satiation method. The results showed that the provision of sweet potato flour in feed could increase the hematological parameters and nutritional coefficient values and gave the best value at P3 for the hemoglobin level parameter, namely 8.40; hematocrit level with a value of 79.01%; total leukocytes with a value of 75.23 × 103 cells/mm3 and total erythrocytes with a value of 2.89 × 106 cells/mm3 . In the nutritional coefficient value parameter, the best results are found in P3 with a total of 0.82.
