Abstract

SUMMARY: Flame Characteristics In Meso Scale Combustion With The Addition Of Sudden Expansion And Plate Flame Holder; Mahendra Bagaskara, 181910101148; 2020; 206 pages; Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Jember. The availability of the number of fossil energy sources or that cannot be renewed will be depleted on the surface of the earth, where the increasing growth in technology is one of the factors affecting the availability of energy sources. Due to supporting technology activities human in the present still use fossil fuels. The need for energy sources is so great but not matched by the amount of its availability in nature is the main factor for humans to start using energy sources whose availability will continue to exist if managed properly. One of the ways is by reducing the size of the combustion system and replacing fossil energy sources that originally used fuel oil to become natural gas (Ju and Maruta, 2011). The development in meso combustion is based on research by Wan Jian long (2018), which examines the use of a plate flame holder in the combustor section. This study resulted in a slightly different flame compared to the plate less mechanism. This has an effect on the residence time which can allow the reactants to be more mixed. This research was conducted with experimental where meso-scale combustor with sudden expansion added a flame holder in the form of a plate which is controlled by varying diameter outlet on the combustor. Of the two variations in thediameter outlet, namely 8 mm and 10mm, the results show that at conditions of equivalent ratio (ะค) = 1, the combustor 10 mm has a better flammability limit, more stable fire, and shape of the fire tends to widen and forms like 2 letter c or a semicircle in the plate holder.

Abstract

This research was conducted at the LAB of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jember from September 2020 to July 2021. This study used Ansys Student 19.1 Software and analytical calculations of fatigue life. Data retrieval is carried out on bolts hex socket head bolt with and without thread This research was conducted under static conditions. bolt hex socket head bolt has a size with a length of p = 70 mm, thread diameter = 12 mm. Material bolts using ASTM A325 steel. The results of this study include, stress, fatigue life, fatigue damage and safety factor. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the results of the comparison between simulation and analysis in table 4.4 have a significantly greater comparison between fatigue life and fatigue damage namely 62.73% and 99.76%, respectively. While in table 4.5 the comparison is significantly greater in the fatigue damage and safety factor , namely 89.97% and 54.59%, respectively. In the comparison results, it still exceeds the errorassumptions cycle bolt hex socket head

Abstract

Meso-scale combustor adalah pipa logam yang terdiri dari inlet dan outlet berdiameter 1-10 mm sebagai saluran bahan bakar dan oksidator yang sudah tercampur, lalu terjadi pembakaran skala meso. Metode penelitian ini menambahkan sudden expansion dengan memvariasikan ukuran wire mesh berukuran 30, 60, dan 90 mesh/in, dan menggunakan diameter inlet 3,3 mm dan diameter outlet 4,7 mm berguna pada api yang menyala didalam Meso-scale combustor lebih stabil. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh variasi ukuran wire mesh terhadap karakteristik dan kestabilan nyala api pada meso-scale combustor.

Abstract

PT. Kemasan Ciptatama Sempurna is a company engaged in the packaging sector with its main products, namely Styrofoam and Launch Box. In the Launch Box production section , the machine works 24 hours every day due to high market needs, one of which is the thermoforming machine. This is what makes the thermoforming machine stay in optimal condition, therefore it is necessary to apply the maintenance method. TPM is an alternative approach to equipment maintenance that strives to achieve zero damage and zero defects. Besides that TPM is also a an approach to keep current plants and equipment to a higher level of productivity through cooperation between all organizational areas within the company. This study aims to calculate the value of Overall Equipment Effectiveness and Six big losses at thermoforming machine so that it can reduce losses that cause the machine to not be in optimal condition by providing suggestions based on the TPM pillar. The results showed that the value of Overall Equipment Effectiveness of the thermoforming machine from January to September was 39.41% with an average value of availability of 94.78%, performance rate 73.51%, and quality rate 56.44%. From the value of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), then we look for losses that make the value of the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) component low by using six big losses and analysis using Pareto and fishbone diagrams. From the Pareto diagram analysis, it was found that the highest losses caused the value of the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) component to be low, namely reduced yield and scrap losses and reduced speed losses with the respective percentage losses of 39.79% and 36.53%. There are several recommendations that can be made based on the 8 pillars of TPM, including autonomous maintenance; planned maintenance; quality integration; focused improvement; early equipment management; training and education; safety, healty, environtment; and TPM in administration.

Abstract

Pada penelitian ini dilakukan bagaimana proses pembuatan Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) dan menguji performansi yang dihasilkan oleh DSSC terhadap cahaya. Substrat yang digunakan merupakan jenis FTO (Fluorin-doped Tin Oxide) yang memiliki restifitas permukaan 15-25 ohm/cm. Lapisan fotoelektroda menggunakan pasta ZnO yang dideposisi menggunakan teknik doctor blade dan zat klorofil daun pandan dan zat antosianin kulit terong ungu sebagai dye. Sebagai lapisan counter electrode, substrat dilapisi oleh jelaga yang dihasilkan oleh lilin. Parameter proses yang mempengaruhi karakteristik listrik sel surya dianalisis dan diukur. Sumber pada uji performansi DSSC berbahan dye zat klorofil daun pandan adalah 550 mV untuk VOC dan 0,070 mA untuk ISC. Dari pengukuran karakteristik I-V di hasilkan efisiensi DSSC tersebut sebesar 0,0166 %; 0,0202 %; dan 0,2525 %. Semakin besar intensitas penerangan cahaya maka semakin besar daya keluaran DSSC.

Abstract

Pesawat amfibi adalah pesawat yang dapat lepas landas dan mendarat di air. Persyaratan unik pesawat amfibi adalah kebutuhannya untuk lepas landas dan mendarat di air yang dilengkapi dengan pontoon. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui korelasi dari variasi kombinasi geometri deadrise angle, step height, dan constant cross-section length dengan nilai koefisien drag (CD), koefisien lift (CL), dan koefisien momen (CM). Metodologi penelitian dilakukan dengan simulasi Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa deadrise angle mempengaruhi koefisien drag (CD), koefisien lift (CL), dan koefisien momen (CM) dengan masing-masing nilai 0,0055; 0,0044; -0.0036, sedangkan step height tidak berdampak signifikan terhdap koefisien drag (CD) dan koefisien lift (CL) serta tidak berpengaruh terhadap koefisien momen (CM). constant cross-section length tidak berdampak signifikan terhadap koefisien drag (CD) dan koefisien lift (CL) tetapi peningkatan constant cross-section length dapat meningkatkan koefisien momen (CM) dengan nilai -0.0039 koefisien momen (CM).

Abstract

Komposit dengan berpenguat serat sabut kelapa merupakan material komposit yang paling pesat perkembangannya. Serat sabut kelapa mempunyai banyak sekali keunggulan seperti ramah lingkungan, mudah didaur ulang, mudah dicari, dan ekonomis. Metode yang digunakan adalah press hand lay up dengan bahan serat sabut kelapa sebagai reinforced dan unsaturated polyester sebagai matrik dengan variasi fraksi volume serat sabut kelapa 0%, 5%, 7,5%, 10% dari komposit. Pengujian kekuatan bending dengan acuan ASTM D790 menunjukkan hasil pengujian kekuatan bending terbesar pada fraksi 0% serat sabut kelapa sebesar 85,5 MPa. Sedangkan kekuatan bending terkecil pada 7,5% serat sabut kelapa sebesar 25,4 MPa. Dari perhitungan dan analisa didapat bahwa serat sabut kelapa dapat menurunkan kekuatan bending pada komposit.
