Abstract

The Asia-Pacific region is a very strategic region for cooperation in the economic and security fields. This makes this region very contested by the two countries of hegemony in the economic field, namely, China and the United States. To achieve these interests, China and the United States must contribute to the region, one of which is conducting Institutional balancing with institutions that are quite influential in the Asia-Pacific region such as the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), ASEAN Plus Three (APT), East Asia Summit (EAS). And this paper will discuss why the United States changed its foreign policy from the Middle East to Asia-Pacific region. The dynamic of the region shows that China plays an important role along with its national capability improvement. The increase in China's national capability is seen as a challenge to national interests, as well as security for the United States alliance states in the Asia-Pacific region. Using an analytical framework based on the Balance of Threat theory, the author concludes that there is a strong relation between China's national capability improvements with the implementation of US rebalancing strategy to the Asia-Pacific region.

Abstract

Recently, the global economy is faced with the challenges of a trade war. It makes all countries interdependent with other countries. one example of them is bilateral relations between Indonesia and Australia. Beginning in 1971 the establishment of the Indonesian embassy for Australia in Yarralumla, Canberra. Indonesia and Australia have good neighborly commitments in the form of developing mutually beneficial cooperation. In 2013 there were tensions between the two countries which resulted in the suspension of IA-CEPA activities and Indonesia recalled Ambassador Nadjib Riphat from Canberra. In 2016, Australia initiated the IA-CEPA to be reactivated. Through the visit of the Indonesian finance minister to Australia. 2019 is the beginning of relations between Indonesia and Australia getting stronger. Australia has a dominant role in this relationship so that Australia's interests are very visible. This bilateral cooperation was strengthened by the existence of an agreement namely the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) The main focus of this bilateral cooperation was in the fields of economy and security. When talking about economic interests and dependencies, Neoliberalism and Interdependence of Liberalism can be used in discussing the problem.

Abstract

The existence and power of China in the international eye can no doubt. One of China's efforts expanded its wings to occur in the Asia-Pacific region. Of course, behind this is China's interests and some other implications that make China an expansionism in the security and economy of Asia Pacific. Australia's proximity to the United States as the largest political, economic and military actor in the Asia Pacific makes Australia's position to be stretched with the Asian-Pacific countries. It is also due to the presence of China as a new force in the Asia-Pacific region which is considered to be an American competitor who has been regarded as a country that has great control over the Asia Pacific through its proximity and assistance given to Australia. China's presence as a force of United States in the region is also due to several historical factors. In this article, the author seeks to describe and analyse how Australia and China relations in the Asia-Pacific region due to China's expansionism by using national security concepts and foreign policy theories. Keywords: Asia Pacific; economy; military; policy.
