Abstract

Kiambang (Salvinia molesta) is the weed in Batutegi Dam which its existence andcomposition have potential to be animal feed stuff. Information of crude fiber content, especiallyNDF and lignin of Kiambang in Batutegi Dam is still unknown. This study aimed to: (1)determine the difference of crude fiber content, namely are NDF and lignin in the whole plant, young leaves, young root, old leaves, and old root, (2) determine the highest and the lowest crudefiber content of Kiambang whole plant, young leaves, young root, old leaves, and old root. Thisstudy was held in April – June 2012, located in Batutegi Dam Tanggamus District and Laboratoryof Animal Research Office Ciawi Bogor West Java. This study used descriftive methods with fivetreatments (namely were whole plant, young leaves, young root, old leaves, and old root) and tworeplications. The study result of analysis van soest showed that the highest NDF content was in thepart of Kiambang whole plant, 77.56%, and the lowest contents were in the old root and trunk, asmuch as 68.40%. The highest lignin contents were in the Kiambang old root and trunk, 25.38%,and the lowest content was in the young leaves, 16.62%.

Abstract

This research aims to response of onset estrus and estrus duration at various parity Bali cattle aftertwice injection of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α). This research has been done in the Sukoharjo 2,Pringsewu District. The material is used as much as 12 cows, and the average weight rangeaverage cow is 285 kg. Methods of research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) withthree treatments, they are (P0), (P1) and (P2). Each other treatment was repeated four times, theyare 4 Bali cattle parity 0 or heifers, 4 Bali cattle 1 or cow that has begat 1 times, and 4 Bali cattleparity 2 or cows that have been lambing 2 times. Hormone’s name is prostaglandin F2α (Juramate®) at a dose of 2 ml / tail. The results showed that there were highly significant differences(P<0.01) in the treatment of P0 and P1 to P2, but no effect between P0 and P1 to speed the onsetof estrus, and the differences were highly significant (P <0.01) between treatment on P0, P1, andP2 to the long estrus. The average respon of onset estrus for each successive treatments are P0 =44.15 hours; P1 = 48.89 hours; P2 = 22.33 hours. The average of estrus duration areRespectively : P0 = 12.94 hours; P1 = 20.85 hours; P2 = 16.63 hours.

Abstract

Breeding is an effort to produce poultry breeds. To increase the qualified turkey breeds, itneeds to do firm selection to the turkey hatched eggs before hatching. The egg weight is the factorwhich influence the qualified turkey breeds. This study aimed to determine the comparison of eggweight on the fertility, weight loss, hatchability, and hatched weight of turkeys. This study washeld during a month on 1 March – 5 April 2013, located in Sukoharjo 1 Village, SukoharjoDistrict, Pringsewu Regency. The eggs used in this study were 30 turkey eggs for each treatment. The treatments consisted of egg weight T1 (70,00--74,99 g) and T2 (75,00--80,00 g). The eggstaken from 10 cages of turkey mother, three eggs from each cage. Data obtained from this studywas analyzed by using T-student Test with significant value. The result of this study showed thatthe comparison of turkey eggs weight of 70,00--74,99 g and 75,00--80,00 g were not significantlydifferent (P>0,05) on the fertility, weight loss, and hatchability. However, those weights weresignificantly different (P<0,05) on the hatched weight of turkeys.
