Abstract

Financial distress prediction is an essential issue in finance. Especially in emerging economies, predicting the future financial situation of individual corporate entities is even more significant, bearing in mind the general economic turnrr.oil that can be caused by business failures. Following this discrimination approach this study explores the usefulness of financial ratios in constructing the discrimination models as an early waring system. Theratios used in the models were compiled from financial report: of 11 oIndonesian banks that listed in Indonesian Banking Directory. The result ofthis investigation show that financial ratios ara significant within 5% for one year before failure and 10% for two years before failure as bankruptcy prediction variable of a bank. Those ratios also explain that asset quality, management earning power and liquidity are the determines of the Indonesian banks banckruptcy.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine the relationship between belief, attitude, subjective norm, intention, and behavior towards numbers gambling (legal and illegal) based on the theory of reasoned action (TRA) proposed by Fishbein and Ajzen (1975). Statistical analysis on 198 responses indicates that the TRA could ue used in predicting choice decision of numbers buyers by explaining 58.8 percent of the variance in the intervening variable namely intention to select the operator type. The subjective norm component had a higher predictive power than the attitudinal component. Of the two elements in the normative components, closest friend was found to be more influential.  In the corresponding attitudinal components, the more influential elements (in descending order) are convenience, trusted operator, flexible games, and risk. Results of this study indicate that there are about equal number of people who prefer legal and illegal operators. Those in the younger age group are more likely to buy from the illegal operators. Those who prefer the illegal operators buy numbers more often and spend more on bets.

Abstract

Most of accounting studies had examined the relationship between budget participation and managerial performance. However, the result of previous studies showed that their relationship were not consistent.  To reconcile these conflicting results, it needs to investigate the hypothesized relationship using a contingency approach. This study empirically examined the influence of motivation and delegation of authority as moderating variables on the relationship between budget participation and magerial performance. Mailed quitionnaires were distributed to 1120 managers or head of division/chief officer was high qualified hotels in Bali. The responses from 154 (13, 75 %) managers or head divisio11/chief officer analyzed by using regression analysis with residuai approach  (bivariate test). The results of study showed that budget participation and managerial performance had positive and significant relationship.  The results also showed that a high degree of fit between budget participation and contingent variable motivation influenced the increasing of manag1Jrial performance.  Otherwise, result of study about the influence of a high degreP, of flt between budget participation and contmgent variable delegation of authority showed positive and significant result on the increasing of managerial performance.

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze the factors influence towards the healthcare satisfaction as perceived by the inpatient and to formulate the best fit strategy to serve the hospitalized patients. The stratified random sampling was used to withdraw 140 inpatients for this study. The data that was collected from survey, observation, and from documentation was estimated with Structural Equation Model (SEM) and found that service satisfaction is significantly  influenced by service quality and life satisfaction, while the service quality is affected by inputs, environment, and work process.Man - power is found as the most important component for inputs and has high Loading Factor ( 1,039 ). Moreover, man - power is considered as the most dominant factor to influence the service quality and service satisfaction since it has very low probability of significance ( 0,000 ).This study recommends that the excellent service strategy could be formulated by considering the aspect of man - power resources. Type, number, and qualification of the man - power operation workers should be appointed according to the standard of personel  in order to fulfil the  needs of  the patients.

Abstract

The objectives of this study to provide an empirical evidence variablesproxy for CAMEL and other bank characteristics for predicting bank bankcruptcy . The study uses 333 bank as sample which comprise of governmental bank, general bank and regional development bank in Indonesia tor one and two years before bankcrupt. The hypothesis was analysed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression. The result shows that variables equity, loanta, NIM, ROA, Core, Insider and Logsize were significantly different between bankcruptbank and non-bankcrupt bank. The accurancy of model for predicting 199 7bankcruptcy to 1999 bankcruptcy tend to decrease.
