Abstract

The thesis aims to describe the construction of femininity in Aam Amilia’s short story entitled “Fatamorgana”. Aam Amilia is the most productive woman author in Sundanese literature. In this short story, Aam shows the construction of femininity of Sundanese woman through the relationship between men and women in everyday life, especially in marriage. The short story “Fatamorgana” shows two characters of Sundanese women tend to be contradictory, that is the women that stay at home as housewives and women that have full time career outside. It is through the narrative and vocalization in short story thatboth of the figures are appearead to have different opinions in defining the position of mother. Nevertheless, this short story takes side to ideal femininity that is concieved from men assumptions.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how the description of the indigenous culture of bride Malay Ujungbatu Riau in the civic culture’s development. Bride Malay Ujungbatu’s Indigenous culturein the development of civic culture explores and examines the bride indigenous. The results this research show that a) the bride custom culture of Malay Ujung Batu has a culture that are: menjalang mamak, kampung suku, kampung penghulu and menjalang mintuo. In the context of civic culture, there is the value of silaturrahim, religious, family, responsibility, deliberation, and togetherness, b) the procession of bride Malay Ujung Batu includes: antar tanda, khatam Al-qur’an, tepung tawar, berinai, ber-arak or ber-dikie. In the context of civic culture, there is the value of belief, attitude, ability of cooperation, solidarity, togetherness, responsibility, mutual cooperation, c) the civic culture’s developmentas the part of civic education (PKn) takes place naturally in the family and society. The research subjects are indigenous figure, youth and society. The efforts made in preservation are motivating simultaneously from both the indigenous figure and the parents in a family environment. It can be concluded that there are civic cultural values in the indigenous of bride Malay Ujungbatu Riau as part thecivic culture’s development.

Abstract

Discourses that appear in text and conversation are not neutral. It is a form of subjectivity that leads to power struggles. Such as the discourse of “Bomb Pan” as the diversion issues on the Ahok casewhich was heralded by Eko Patrio, which was then responded by the Chief of Police Tito who was in charge of handling the bomb pan case together Densus 88.Police Chief against Eko delivered in ultimatum form that finally made Eko doing a series of strange such as transforming himself from a suspect to a victim of online media libel. Changes in Eko's attitude due to Tito's ultimatum made the researcher interested in analyzing the contents of the Ultimatum. Through Fairclough's critical discourse (textual analysis, discursive practice, and social praxis) it was found that the Chief of Tito's decree using the modalities of service negotiation to generate symbolic power over its performance as a police chief can not be doubted and must be obeyed by anyone including political institutions

Abstract

The scientific development nowadays are very quickly. On the other hand, every nation on the world have been protected his ideology. These both have an exsistence characteristics, and on their historical development are always contradiction. The scientific sociological approach as one alternative solution to compromise these contradiction, these both can do the social demand supporting.Science must develop social aspects, and ideology must be open to the possibility of criticism. Pancasila as ideology provides a framework of the value of scientific ethics in the development of science.

Abstract

Cultural society lasted for revival by community. The symbolic meaning of a behavior that is reflected in a culture understood for generations. Water is one of the essential human needs for survival. Society used a symbol of water maintained as an effort conservation with the knowledge limitation of society itself. Ngaruat cai is a Sundanese traditional ceremony with the intention of thanksgiving and reinforcement refused for its society. This activity was conducted in order to maintain and grateful for the water received by Cirateun’s community as a cultural heritage. There is symbolic meaning from that’s activity with expectation that the same water need can bind society to participate actively.The purpose of this paper is to discuss the meaning of ritual symbols and social changes in Sundanese language. The method of this paper is qualitative ethnography to describe the activities of the Cirateun community to keep the Coblong river through symbolic Ngaruat Cai.Conclusion that the common perception in the symbolic ritual Ngaruat Cai can be a way to improve people's knowledge, people's needs not only maintain a water cleans but also how to keep clean water used and waste water must still be maintained and managed so as not to pollute other environment.
