Abstract

Forest sustainability will be maintained if there is sustainability of the ecological and economic functions of the forest, the ecological function is the fulfillment of forest resources as the carrying capacity of the environment and the economic function of the forest can improve the welfare of the community If the forest is damaged then these two functions will not be fulfilled. This is where community participation-based environmental communication is needed. The purpose of this study is to describe forest functions that require community participation which are grown through conceptual-based environmental communication. This study uses qualitative descriptive method. The result of this research is that sustainable forest development through the approach of welfare and community participation as a social forest concept can be positively correlated with the sustainability of the ecological and economic functions of forest resources, so that the community has a high sense of belonging to the forest which is positively correlated with the importance of maintaining forest sustainability. The need for forest conservation requires good environmental communication that can foster public awareness and participation in institutionally sustainable forest management such as the Community Forest Management Communication Forum (FK PHBM).

Abstract

This study aims to elaborate on how the pattern of democracy shifts along with the development of technology and communication. This shift can be seen from the use of broadcast media as a channel of aspirations to the use of new media known as post-broadcasting democracy. This post-broadcasting democratic pattern will be seen on the #2019gantippresi fanpage community and will analyze the activities carried out by members in the group. This paper is a netnographic study by integrating the concepts of mediated politics, post-broadcasting democracy, and political fans. The results of the study show that this shift in the pattern of democracy creates a new phenomenon, namely political fans. This can be seen in: first, the activities carried out by political fans on social media foster a political constellation with high mobility. Second, post-broadcasting democratic publics become interactive publics. Third, political fans produce texts which in turn become cultural productions in mediated politics. Fourth, the activities of these political fans indirectly influence public opinion regarding the political actors they admire. The author observes that the phenomenon of political fans as seen on the #2019gantippresi fanspage can be a new strategy for political actors in growing fanatical sympathizers by utilizing technological and communication developments.

Abstract

The Indonesian government has issued a government policy to overcome the transmission of Covid 19 in the country. Massive media reports, one of which is Kompas.com. The coverage of the Covid-19 vaccine on Kompas.com for the period August - September 2020 is the object of this research. The purpose of this study is to analyze, and reveal how the political discourse in the news of the Covid 19 Vaccine and how the post-commodification of information occurs through the news of the Covid 19 vaccine on Kompas.com. This research is an interpretive qualitative research with a critical paradigm with Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis. Discourse analysis in this theory is carried out at three levels, namely text, discursive practice, and sociocultural practice. The results of the study show that the political discourse that has developed in the news of the Covid 19 vaccine on Kompas.com is the practice of media commodification. Political discourse in reporting the Covid-19 vaccine is represented as an identity battle between related parties, especially in government circles. The news on the Covid 19 vaccine, narrated by Kompas.com, is very political to gain recognition, support, and representation of media ideology by turning news into a millennial industry, ammunition for political competition and political partisan identity within the government.
