Abstract

This study examines CO2 for the growth of green microalgae by cultivating algal strains in a tank type reactor or fermentor. The study included optimization of the productivity of green algae in the capture of CO2 which can be used as a greenhouse gas catcher. Green algae were isolated from several waters in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar. The microalgae species of this isolation and its identified species were subsequently cultivated in a tank-shaped cultivation (cultivation) container with 4 flourescent lamps (2x8 watts; 4x8 watts) installed on the outside side of the tank. This study evaluated the comparison of the growth of aerated microalgae O2 (1.25 liters / minute) with fixation of CO2 (1 and 2 liters / minute). The capture of CO2 into carbon dioxide  is done by looking at the growing biomass, and the yield content of oil in biomass. The results showed that there were significant differences in the growth patterns of microalgae given O2 aeration and CO2 fixation. Modified CHU 13 Detmer Modified media does not provide a significant difference to algal growth. With a large intensity of light with a medium that is sufficient to increase the growth of microalgae until it reaches the death phase. Component analysis by Chromatography Gas Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) shows that the largest component in vegetable oils from green microalgae is Palmatic acid (9.36%), Thiogeraniol (24.63%), Cyclopropane Methanol (2.45%), Farnesol ( 2.39%), Trimethyl (2.78%) and Dodencadien (5.06%).

Abstract

Compressor at PT. Es Muda Perkasa that commonly failure is at unit D. So that need to optimize the compressor at unit D with finding the failure of the parts of the compressor and making the schedule of maintenance program to minimize the failure of the ice machine. This study using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) method, which applicate Grey FMEA to determine the priority of the machine maintenance. After conducting and implementing the RCM method, it was found that the failure occurs at Low-Pressure and High-Pressure Pump at compressor unit D, and sub-part failure happen on bearing, due to small coefficient, which is 0.566 where it become primarily failure component. For the next maintenance, using schedule on condition task on bearing parts of the machine could minimize the failure of the parts on the machine

Abstract

Ideally the increase in electrical energy needs is proportional to the supply, but these conditions often cannot be met by the energy provider. This condition can affect the quality of electrical energy supply to customers, such as system outages to power outages. Short-term solutions and concrete steps in an effort to overcome these problems is saving electricity usage. In accordance with presidential regulation no. 5 of 2006 concerning energy conversion and the decision of the Minister of National Education No. 13 of 2012 about Savings on the Use of Electric Energy in government and private institutions, it is necessary to make efficient use of electricity in the University Of Serambi Mekkah Faculty of Engineering. There is no data on energy consumption in the building. It is necessary to conduct an energy audit of the building to determine the level of energy use in the building. The initial IKE value is a guideline for decision making whether or not a detailed audit is needed for the building. The audit results are Energy Saving Opportunities (PHE) that can be obtained by applying the optimal Energy Consumption Intensity (IKE). The results obtained energy savings reached 45.65% from the initial data.

Abstract

Surabaya River is very beneficial to Surabaya people as its water becomes the  main source of PDAM (Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum of Regional Water UtilityCompany). The existing indications on pollution in the flow of Surabaya River due to various activities at its riverbank must not be ignored. Therefore, a study on identifying the distribution of water quality of Surabaya River is required so as to be a reference for formulating control actions to river damage. Identification on water quality distribution was carried out based on the differences of land-use around the left and right sides of river. The research involved the variables of the qualities of river water and waste water thrown into the river, river characteris-tics, and land-use. The results of research  demonstrated that the upstream water quality of Surabaya River was relatively better than the downstream. This statement was proven by the humans’ activities which were more intensively carried out at the downstream area. Numerous land-uses and great number of people living at the riverbank became the phenomena  increasing pressures toward the decreasing quality of river water.

Abstract

The level of community recognition of medicinal plants in the Peusangan Selatan district of Bireun Regency is still low and has not been scientifically validated. This study aims to know about the community knowledge in used plant as traditional medicine. The method used in data collection is Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and observation techniques. Inter-views were conducted semi-structurally based on a number of questionnaires. Collection of plant specimens is taken di-rectly from the location of growth assisted by the respondent or community. Primary data obtained from interviews were tabulated and  then  analyzed descriptively and presented In tables and figures. The results of the study obtained 23 species of medicinal plants that were grouped into 13 family. The most of plant used are from the  ingiberaceae and Apiaceae. Percentage of plant species that are often used based on community knowledge are Curcuma longa, Carica papaya, Jatropa curcas, Lowsoniaenermis.
