Abstract

Crude palm oil (CPO) production continues to be accelerated every year to meet domestic needs and large export demands from China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Japan, and countries in the Middle East region. Indonesia, as the largest CPO producer in the world, is taking on this role to increase the country's competitiveness by continuing to meet CPO demand and needs. However, the high level of CPO processing impacts increasing by-products from palm oil factories. Empty bunches fruit from Palm oil (EFB) are the most common by-product of CPO production. This is a big problem because accumulation will be the main source of environmental damage and pest explosions. Processing EFB into soil conditioners can be an initiative to reduce the accumulation of EFB in factories. However, its effect is not yet known with certainty on several plants cultivated on marginal dry land, such as Ultisol soil. Research aimed to analyze the relationship between the application of various EFB composts to bulk density, percentage of water content, degree of soil acidity, increase in number of leaves, number of eggplants, and weight of eggplant. The research results showed that EFB in the form of compost applied could influence the bulk density, percentage of water content, degree of soil acidity, increase in the number of leaves, and weight of eggplant, but did not affect the number of eggplant. Application EFB positively correlated with the percentage of water content, degree of soil acidity, increase in number of leaves, and weight of eggplant, with determination effects. At the same time, EFB compost had a negative correlation with bulk density.

Abstract

Ayam Joper stands for Ayam Jowo Super or often known by the public as Ayam Kampung Super. Joper chicken is the result of a cross-breed between male native chickens and laying hens. The Citronella plant is a type of plant from the grass family with bioactive substances, namely essential oils, citronella, geraniol, citral, eugenol, cadine, and cadinol which have the potential to become feed additives. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the addition of citronella meal (Cymbopogon nardus L.) as a feed additive in the ration on the performance of Joper. This research was conducted for 63 days from July 26 to September 26, 2023, located in Padasuka Village, Ciomas, Bogor. This study used Joper chickens with an average initial body weight of 34.9 ± 2.71 grams. The design model used in this study is a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments 4 replicates, each replicate has 5 Joper chickens. The treatments given were R0 = basic ration without the addition of 0% citronella meal, R1 = basic ration with the addition of 2% citronella meal, R2 = basic ration with the addition of 4% citronella meal, R3 = basic ration with the addition of 6% citronella meal, R4 = basic ration with the addition of 8% citronella meal. The results showed that the addition of citronella meal as a feed additive in the ration had an effect (P<0.05) on increasing ration consumption, maintaining body weight gain, and reducing the feed conversion ratio of Joper chickens. The conclusion of this study is the addition of citronella meal in a ration of as much as 6% gives the best results on ration consumption and body weight gain while the addition of citronella meal in the ration as much as 8% the best result on feed conversion ration in week 3 and 7.

Abstract

Commercial nori is made from the main ingredient of Porphyra seaweed which is not found in Indonesia, so most nori is an imported product. Nori analogues were created as an alternative to commercial nori. This research aims to make nori analogues made from watermelon genjer and albedo that have chemical properties close to commercial nori. This study used a One-Factor Complete Randomized Design, namely the nori formulation with 7 levels of treatment and two repeats. The nori formulation was obtained using the Expert Design 13 Mixture D-Optimal method with minimum and maximum limit factors given at watermelon albedo concentrations (50%-80%) and genjer (20%-50%). The resulting analog nori was tasted of chemistry characteristic. Data analysis in this study used the Expert 13 Design program and the SPSS program with statistical tests, namely the fingerprint test (ANOVA) and Duncan's follow-up test at a 95% confidence interval. The selected analogue nori formulation in the Expert 13 Design program based on chemical test results is nori made from 70% watermelon albedo: 30% genjer: 0.9% carrageenan: 1.5% flavoring: 0.2% citric acid. This analogue nori contains 5.2% moisture content, 5.6% ash content, and 22.9% crude fiber content.

Abstract

Regular watering and with the right portion are very important in melon cultivation. The current melon fruit watering system is still done by turning the water tap on the watering pipe block to flow the water. Therefore, there needs to be an application of technology that can help melon farmers in the watering process. Although many researchers have developed automatic watering models, some have even used IoT technology. However, this study has not considered the need for watering based on the age of the melon plant itself. In fact, this automatic watering system based on the age of the melon plant is what melon farmers need, so that the melon plants grow well and produce quality fruit. This study aims to develop a distributed automatic watering system based on the age of the plant and nutritional needs. The methods used include the integration of electronic instrumentation technology and distributed automatic control to provide the right watering process. The results of the study showed that this system is effective in optimizing the watering process so that nutrients can be absorbed properly. With this system, the level of fruit sweetness at harvest can reach 17 brix, and the size of the honey melon produced can reach 1.2 kg. In conclusion, this distributed automatic watering system is a smart solution to optimize the growth and yield of melon plants.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of nano guano and eco-enzyme application on corn (Zea mays L.) cultivated in Inceptisol soil. The research method employed a Complete Randomized Block Design (RAKL) factorial with the first factor being nano guano dosage: D1 (0 kg/ha), D2 (50 kg/ha), D3 (75 kg/ha), and D4 (100 kg/ha). Meanwhile, the second factor was eco-enzyme concentration: E1 (0 ml/L), E2 (1 ml/L), and E3 (2 ml/L). Each combination was repeated three times in block form. The data obtained were then analyzed using ANOVA and further tested with LSD (Least Significant Difference) at a 5% level. The results of the study indicate that 1 inceptisol soil is classified as having low fertility, there is no significant effect on the plant height and number of leaves of corn plants treated with nano guano, and eco-enzyme application influences the height and number of leaves of corn plants at 3 and 4 week after planting.

Abstract

Fusarium sp. is a pathogenic fungus that attacks the vascular tissue and causes decay in the host plant. Biological control by utilizing microbes that are antagonistic to the fungus Fusarium sp. One of the antagonistic fungi that can be used is Trichoderma harzianum. This study aims to determine the effect of biofungicide Trichoderma harzianum and chemical pesticide (active ingredient mankozeb) against Fusarium wilt disease. This research was conducted from October to December 2023 at the Plant Protection Laboratory of Jember State Polytechnic and Cultivation Field, Antirogo District, Jember Regency. The research activities were carried out in two stages, the first in the laboratory and the second in the field by comparing the biofungicide treatment of Trichoderma harzianum and chemical pesticides (active ingredient mankozeb). Research activities in the laboratory are by conducting inhibition tests. The results showed that the Trichoderma harzianum biofungicide treatment gave an antagonistic effect against the fungus Fusarium sp. On the intensity of attack, the Trichoderma harzianum biofungicide treatment gave an effect that was not significantly different from the chemical pesticide (active ingredient mankozeb) at 28 HST, 34 HST, and gave a significantly different effect at 40 HST. In the yield parameter, the wet weight of the cob gave a significantly different effect compared to mankozeb at 142.98 grams

Abstract

dessert yang memiliki tekstur yang padat akibat tingginya kadar kristal es. Salah satu cara untuk meminimalkan pembentukan kristal es pada velva adalah dengan menambahkan bahan penstabil hidrokoloid. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan hidrokoloid gelatin dan guar gum terhadap karakteristik fisik dan sensoris velva buah jambu biji merah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan formulasi terbaik yang menghasilkan produk dengan kualitas terbaik berdasarkan evaluasi fisik dan sensoris. Metode penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) faktorial terdiri dari 2 (dua) faktor. Faktor (E) gelatin terdiri dari 3 taraf E1 (0% gelatin), E2 (0.5% gelatin) dan E3 (1% gelatin) dan Faktor (G) guar gum terdiri dari 3 taraf G1 (0% guar gum), G2 (0.5% guar gum) dan G3 (1% guar gum) diulang sebanyak 3 kaliAnalisis dilakukan menggunakan analisis ragam dan diikuti dengan uji Duncan Multiple Range Test. Penambahan hidrokoloid guar gum dan gelatin memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap parameter overrun, daya leleh, total padatan terlarut, viskositas, serta penilaian organoleptik hedonik warna, tekstur, dan mouthfeel pada velva buah jambu biji. Namun, tidak terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap aroma velva. Perlakuan A3B3 (1% gelatin dan 1% guar gum) menghasilkan velva jambu biji terbaik mempunyai parameter sifat fisik : nilai total padatan terlarut sebesar 24,56%, overrun 5,13%, viskositas 54.590 cP, daya leleh 15,36 menit, serta sifat sensoris hedonik : warna agak disukai (3.6), aroma agak disukai (3,8), tekstur disukai (4,3), dan mouthfeel disukai (4,2).
