Abstract

This study aims to design and produce science worksheets based on a scientific approach to improve students science process skills and learning outcomes. Furthermore, the LKPD that has been prepared is tested to determine the characteristics, validity, practicality, and effectiveness of LKPD. This type of research is development research by modifying the Borg and Gall development model and the ADDIE development model with the One Group Pretest Posttest Design trial design. The instruments used were expert validation questionnaires, LKPD practicality questionnaires, science process skills observation sheets, and essay tests. The results showed that 1) Gregory's validity coefficient for the results of the material expert's validity was 0.97 with very valid criteria, the average language validity score was 97.00 with very valid criteria and the average media validity score was 96.00 with very valid criteria , 2) met the practicality requirements of the teacher with an average score of 87.00 with very practical criteria, and 3) fulfilled the effectiveness requirements with a normalized N-gain score of 0.589 with moderate criteria, an average score of science process skills in the abstract realm of 75.8 with good criteria and a concrete domain of 78 with good criteria. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that science worksheets based on a scientific approach can improve science process skills and student learning outcomes. Abstract

This research aims to develop open ended problem worksheet products that adapt pre-existing worksheets. Then the LKPD was tested to find out the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of improving junior high school students' science process skills. This type of research is development research by adapting the Borg and Gall development model. Data in this study were collected using validation questionnaires, practicality questionnaires and observation of students' science process skills. The results of this study show: (1) the gregory validity coefficient for material validity KVG is 0.95 with very valid qualifications, for media validity results a score is 96 with very valid qualifications and language validity results obtain a score is 96 with very valid qualifications, (2) the results of the practicality test show that LKPD is very practical from teacher practitioners is 85.50. (3) The results of the effectiveness test show that the improvement of students' science process skills is in the good category. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that (1) LKPD has characteristics according to open ended problems, (2) LKPD has obtained valid assessments, (3) LKPD has obtained practical assessments, and (4) LKPD is effective in improving participants' science process skills educate. Keywords: student worksheets, open ended problem, science process skills.

Abstract

Abstract

Learning difficulties experienced by students in basic science learning are basic science topics are still very textual. Students become confused and difficult to solve contextual problems. One way to link science topics through contextual learning is by integrating local wisdom into science content. One study related to local wisdom is ethnoscience. Ethnoscience is an attempt to reconstruct indigenous knowledge in society (indigenous science) into scientific knowledge (scientific knowledge). This reconstruction process will be useful in supporting the achievement of science concepts in learning. Therefore, it is considered important to research to identify the original scientific concepts in Balinese people which can be included in Basic Science learning. This research is qualitative research that aims to identify and analyze Balinese ethnoscience studies in Basic Science learning. The subjects of this research were students and expert lecturers who were taken through purposive sampling technique. Data on student learning difficulties were obtained through observation and interviews, while data on the relevance of Balinese ethnoscience studies in Basic Science learning were obtained through questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies. The results of this study indicate that there are Balinese ethnoscience studies in Basic Science learning, especially in separating mixtures, diversity of living things, heat, material changes, and biotechnology. With this result, basic science learning will be more contextual using Balinese ethnoscience study as an example. Furthermore, the difficulties in learning science experienced by students can be overcome. Keywords: contextual learning; ethnoscience; basic science

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are very useful for students to enter the world of work, so it really needs to be trained in the learning process. This research aims at analyzing the differences of students’ critical thinking skills through implementation of Think Pair Share (TPS) and Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) Cooperative Learning Models in Biology Instruction at SMA Negeri 2 Singaraja. To achieve that purpose, it has been done a quasi-experiment research which used Nonequivalent Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. The population of this research were all of class XI MIPA (7 classes) at SMA Negeri 2 Singaraja. The research’ samples were class XI MIPA 3 and XI MIPA 4 which is determined by simple random sampling technique by lottery. By these two classes, one class was taught by TPS, there were 32 students. Another one class was taught by STAD, there were 33 students. The data is analyzed by using the descritive analysis and the use of Anacova statistic. By the Anacova testing, it was obtained a statistical value of F = 8,776 with a significance of 0.004. It indicated that (1) there were differences in the critical thinking skills of the students who were taught by TPS with the students who were taught by the STAD and (2) the average value obtained by the group of students who were taught by the TPS cooperative learning model (75.31) was higher than the average value of groups of students who were taught by the STAD cooperative learning model (68.67).
