Abstract

Household saving is how much of income is set aside after it is consumed. This type of saving is one of important aspect of household behavior, especially for developing countries. Many empirical studies had addressed to explore and to test the pattern of household saving. Initiated by Modigliani and Ando (1963) who proposed the hump shape of life cycle of saving then this hypothesis grows even wider and deeper. Considering the foregoing, it is therefore very important  for policy maker to know and to analized whether low or high the household saving rate in the country. Browning and Lusardi (1996) provides a good comprehensive review of the recent household saving literatures. Deaton (1991) finds that saving will be a back up stock of income to maintain concumption during bad times, even if there is liquidity constraint or imperfect capital market.  Also Horioka (1997) found that the age structure of population affects household saving rate in japan and strong support for the life cycle model. Similar to this is also tested for the United State household that working age of household head had a negative and sgnificant impact on personal saving Gale, Sabelhaus and Hall (1991) (Thornton, 2001). Other literatures that tries to examine and comparing between countries whether saving is affected by income growth is by Paxson (1995) and Deaton and Paxson (2000) for four cross-countries and looks an evidence of household saving in Latin America and South East Asia Counties was tested by Attanasio and Szekely (2000). They found that household saving follow the life cycle model, eventhough for some countries which has a volatile economic growth, show a weak evidence. Modigliani and Ando (1963) started to improve what proposed by Modigliani and Brumberg (1954) with the view that the behavior of the life cycle savings will reach a peak at the productive age and decreased continuously in ages up to retirement as an impact of consumption smoothing behavior. Because of a little evidences have been done exploring and testing this research topic for the Indonesia household behavior, therefore  this papers address to test using Longitudinal data of Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) of year 1993, 2000 and 2007. This paper analyze the important influence of age and cohort effect to the behavior of household which went through the period of such good and bad in the Indonesia economy.

Abstract

At this time, the use of traditional management accounting techniques such as traditional product costing is not meeting user needs with a variety of reasons (Askarany, 2007). In particular, it has been claimed that traditional management accounting techniques are unable to satisfy the users of such techniques in terms of providing them with timely and detailed information. In contrast the implementation of innovative management accounting techniques such as ABC, Target Costing, JIT, and others believed to be a strategy to encourage the provision of capabilities to reduce cost and improve product quality, process flexibility, and build relationships "supplier-customer" and ultimately improve performance (Mia dan Lanita, 2008).The purpose of this study is to examine influence of the decentralization, adaptation, user’s involvement on innovation  management accounting  system implementation and its impact on users satisfaction and organization performance conducted among Textile and Garment  manufacturing companies in West Java, DKI Jakarta, and Banten provinces. This research used descriptive survey and explained survey method. The data used of this study are primary data collected through questionneres. The respondent of this study involved production manager Textile and Garment companies who implemented the innovative management accounting.. This study used the Structural Equation Model with Partial Least Squares software package to test  the 5 hypothesis.Based on data collected from the company production manager of textile and garment, this study shows that decentralization significantly affect the acceptance of innovative management accounting implementation through the involvement of users when the system is implemented. Acceptance of management accounting systems implementation improved user satisfaction and organizational performance.

Abstract

There are three major decisions undertaken by the company through the financial manager's role as an agent hired by the principal of the firm, that is financing decisions, investment decisions, and dividend policy. Agency theory says that in practice  it  will show the differences of interest between the managers and the owners of the company that cause the agency conflict. Ownership structure has contributed to minimize the problems arising from agency conflicts in the firm, namely through increased managerial ownership and institutional ownership. This research has been conducted to examine the impact of ownership structure (managerial ownership and institutional ownership) on financial decisions (financing decisions, investment decisions, and dividend policy) and firm value. This research  has used two models, namely : model 1) examine the effect of ownership structure on financial structure decisions and model 2) examine the effect of ownership structure and financial decisions on firm value.Population in this research are all non-financial emitent listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, while the sampling method is cluster random sampling which produces 104 emitents. Data collection method is used pooling the data method and analytical methods used is Least Square.  Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it can be concluded that both models on this research, all predictors simultaneously have significantly effect. First, managerial ownership and institutional ownership have a significant effect on financing decisions. Second, managerial ownership and institutional ownership have a significant effect on investment decisions. Third, managerial ownership and institutional ownership have a significant effect on dividend policy. Fourth, managerial ownership, institutional ownership, financing decisions, investment decisions and  dividend policy have significant effect on the firm value.
