Abstract

The utilization of rice washing water waste from households has not been optimized, even though it contains a large amount of essential nutrients for plant growth. This waste can be utilized as natural fertilizer for horticultural plants. Rice washing water provides various benefits for plants, is easily accessible to farmers, and is also environmentally friendly. Additionally, its price is very affordable so it can be accessed by farmers. The purpose of this activity is to increase knowledge and understanding of the community in making Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) derived from rice washing water waste, as well as to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers by shifting to organic fertilizers to maintain soil and environmental quality. This activity was conducted in Nagari Lawang, Matur District, Agam, West Sumatra. The method used was through lectures and demonstrations of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) production. The results of this activity showed that the interaction between the organizers and participants had a positive impact, improving skills, and motivating PKK mothers in plant cultivation. The home garden is seen as a productive land for nutrition and income, but there are obstacles such as lack of knowledge and capital. Overcoming these obstacles requires increasing technical knowledge and providing capital. Furthermore, this activity also resulted in increased knowledge and active participation in the process of making liquid organic fertilizer. The conclusion of this activity is to increase knowledge and skills in making LOF, motivating intensive plant cultivation. Public interest in making LOF from waste is high, increasing knowledge and skills in producing organic fertilizer for successful plant cultivation.

Abstract

Eco-enzyme is a versatile liquid that can be used in household, agriculture, livestock, and industrial fields. Its applications range from natural cosmetics, natural medicines, floor cleaners/disinfectants, insecticides, to liquid fertilizers that stimulate plant hormones to improve the quality of fruits and vegetables and increase harvest yields. Several methods of organic waste processing include eco-enzyme production and aerobic and anaerobic composting. Eco-enzymes are unique because they do not require extensive land for fermentation, unlike compost. This makes them very land-efficient and can be done at home. The purpose of this activity is to train housewives to reduce waste piles in the Tangkerang Labuai sub-district of Pekanbaru city by producing eco-enzyme products. The activity takes place in the Tangkerang Labuai sub-district. The target audience for this activity is housewives in the Tangkerang Labuai sub-district of Pekanbaru city. The method of this activity is training and evaluation. Training is conducted directly involving the target audience. Evaluation is done before and after training through pre-tests and post-tests. The results obtained are that housewives in the Tangkerang Labuai sub-district are skilled in producing eco-enzyme products, as evidenced by the results of eco-enzyme products that meet the quality criteria of eco-enzymes. The conclusion of this activity is that the implementation can proceed according to plan and it is hoped that the community can sustainably apply eco-enzyme production activities to reduce pollution in the environment of Pekanbaru city.

Abstract

The purpose of the service activity is to investigate efforts to revive the local trade sector through product innovation by the Kembang Setaman outlet group, which is implemented through the use of e-commerce management to increase turnover in the Tirta Siak Village area, Payung Sekaki District, Pekanbaru City. Technological developments and shifts in consumer behavior towards digital platforms have provided new opportunities for small and medium scale businesses to expand their reach and optimize their product marketing. The method of the activity is a qualitative approach with a case study, through in-depth interviews with members of the Kembang Setaman outlet group and analysis of the implementation of e-commerce management in their marketing strategy. The results of the activity show that the use of e-commerce has had a positive impact on increasing the turnover of the outlet group. Various product innovations were made, such as improving product quality, product diversification, and a more flexible pricing strategy. However, the service also identified several challenges, including limited access to technology, limited understanding of e-commerce operations, and increasing competition in the digital environment. Therefore, support from the local government, training on technology utilization, and an integrated marketing strategy are key in maintaining the sustainability and success of local trade businesses.

Abstract

According to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry's (KLHK) National Waste Management Information System data for 2022, input results from various districts and cities across Indonesia revealed that the amount of national waste stockpiled had reached 21.1 million tons. Of total national waste production, 65.71% (13.9 million tons) can be managed, while the remaining 34.29% (7.2 million tons) is not well managed. One place that produces a lot of waste is the market. Every Thursday, Nagari Balai Tangah hosts a large market, also known as Balai. This market specializes in food ingredients such as vegetables, fish, and ready-to-eat foods. This, of course, results in a buildup of organic waste each week, especially if there is no clear waste management system. For this reason, waste management is needed which aims to increase the knowledge of the people of Nagari Balai Tangah, North Lintau Buo District, Tanah Datar Regency in utilizing organic waste into environmentally friendly biological fertilizer. This activity employs a material presentation/coaching method as well as a direct demonstration of biological fertilizer production using household and market organic waste. The findings of this activity indicate that producing biofertilizer from organic waste can improve the effectiveness of waste utilization in Nagari Balai Tangah. Aside from that, this activity has the potential to create new job opportunities in the form of a biofertilizer business, which can then be used by all Nagari people of various ages. Apart from that, increasing the knowledge and ability of the people of Nagari Balai Tangah to utilize organic waste and make a positive contribution to the welfare of the people of Balai Tangah.

Abstract

Livestock health is a crucial aspect of farm management efforts. Managing livestock health should be a primary concern in order to reduce the risks of losses experienced by farmers due to animal diseases. Furthermore, managing livestock health can improve welfare, productivity, resource efficiency, and the sustainability of farming operations. This activity aims to provide knowledge about the health and management of beef cattle, as well as health services helpful in mitigating the impacts of animal diseases. This activity is carried out in the Rindang Alam area, Koto Lua Village, Pauh District, Padang City. The target audience is the Mak Uniang livestock group. This activity involves lecturers, technicians, and students from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Andalas University. The method used is Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), where partnering lecturers directly act as facilitators and can facilitate the community/partners in implementing activities. The participatory learning method is used to achieve the activity targets. Abstract

This activity aims to provide training and technology packages for improving the maintenance system, knowledge of feed ingredients, technology for producing duck feed based on local feed, restricted feeding. The ultimate goal of this activity is to increase egg production, productivity, feed cost efficiency in the context of developing and increasing farmers' income while forming / developing economically independent partner groups. This activity was carried out in Tanjung Haro Selatan, Luak District, 50 Kota Regency, West Sumatra. The partner involved in this activity is the "Duck Farmer Group "Usaha Baru" which reared egg and meat ducks. The methods used in this service program are counseling, demonstration, training, coaching and provision of technology packages, as well as observation and evaluation and data collection to measure the success parameters of the program being carried out. Based on the implementation of the community service, farmers were very enthusiastic in participating in this activity, almost 80% percent of farmers understand feeding management according to the needs of duck feed based on age level both in quality and quantity. the quality of the rations prepared by the farmer is not sufficient for the nutritional needs of ducks. Increasing egg production can be done by preparing duck rations by increasing animal protein and mineral levels in the ration. Increasing the income of duck farmers can be done by reducing production costs with rations prepared by farmers themselves sourced from local feed ingredients at a price of Rp. 6000, -.
