Abstract

The sale and purchase of positions as a form of corruption in the selection process for local government positions in Indonesia is a violation of law and public morals. Corruption is a complex social phenomenon that requires an objective study and can be studied from various fields, one of which is sociology. This study aims to explain the sociological perspective on buying and selling positions as a form of corruption in local government. The method of this study is a literature study with seven steps based on the Cornell University model. This study helps to understand corruption through selling and purchasing positions from a sociological perspective. So far, corruption studies have been mostly from a legal and political perspective. Based on the study conducted, there are three theories to explain this reality, namely social exchange theory, rational choice theory, and Weber's theory of bureaucracy. Social exchange theory sees the phenomenon of corruption as a form of the exchange relationship between actors involved in buying and selling positions that tend to be corrupt. The rational choice theory sees the buying and selling of positions and corruption as models of human behavior are the results of the selfish preferences of individuals. Weber's model explains the sale and purchase of positions and corruption as a form of deviation from public officials in the legal-rational system (bureaucracy). Based on the explanations of the three theories, the sociological explanation of corruption through the sale and purchase of positions in local government may contradict the legal and political explanations. Keywords: Corruption, Buying And Selling Positions, Sociology Perspective

Abstract

The province of South Sumatra is one of the largest palm oil producers in Indonesia. Oil palm plantations in South Sumatra are spread over several regencies and cities, one of which is Banyuasin Regency. This potential encourages the Banyuasin district government to attract entrepreneurs to do business in the field of oil palm plantations and to build oil palm factories, especially in Gasing Village, Banyuasin Regency. On the other hand, oil palm plantation business activities in Gasing Village, Banyuasin Regency also have a negative impact, namely the occurrence of conflicts between the community and the company, namely conflicts over the legality of land ownership. The area of the problematic land is 110 hectares where there are several residents who claim that this 110 hectares of land is theirs. The method used is a qualitative research method. Data obtained through direct observation and interviews. The results show that the settlement of land disputes related to oil palm plantations has not been smooth and optimal because there are a number of obstacles although in the end it can be resolved. Recommendations from this research are socialization, creation of discussion forums on land/land protection, and education conducted by BPN. Keywords: Rolle of Village Government, Conflict, Oil Palm Plantation.

Abstract

The Village Law mandates village administration to realize good village governance. One indicator of the achievement of good village governance is the accountability of village government and the fulfillment of the rights of villagers. Accountability in practice has two mechanisms, namely vertical accountability and horizontal accountability. However, the two mechanisms are considered incapable of realizing good village governance because there are still loopholes for corrupt behavior in government. So there must be another mechanism, namely social accountability mechanisms. This study uses the method of a literature review. Data collection was carried out by extracting library sources that were relevant to the topic of study. Through the application of the principle of social accountability, village residents will be directly involved in supervising the administration of the village government and will hold them accountable for the policies and services that have been carried out by the village government. So that the application of social accountability can be a catalyst or tool in realizing good village governance. Keywords: Social Accountability; Good governance; Village Administration

Abstract

The culture of drinking coffee is not only a consumption activity, but also a reflection of prestige, celebration of consumerism, and ideology. The large consumption of coffee has increased the market share of selling coffee beans or finished products. Coffee is becoming increasingly popular and tends to have price classes and packaging. So far, there is no alternative for someone to brew pure coffee from processed beans directly. This research focuses on the Jaringan Warkop Nusantara (JWN) which initiates the establishment of a supply network starting from coffee beans produced by farmers and sharing free barista training. Other studies refer to the aesthetics of interior design and the concept of traditional coffee culture. So, the research takes the specifications of the JWN organizational group and their working mechanism in concocting quality selected coffee, as well as how to form an educational network for warkop traders so that they can also popularize coffee from pure beans. This research method uses a qualitative approach. The findings of this study indicate that there is an upapa JWN in de-industrialization through coffee consumption activities from warkop. JWN even uses the warkop network as a means of supplying rural coffee farmers who often get less than the maximum selling price. Keywords: Coffee, Jaringan Warkop Nusantara, Dependence, Market, Authenticity
