Research discusses the different use of Japanese verbs benkyousuru, manabu, renshuusuru, and narau associated with the use of nouns attaching to the verbs. Data corpus was taken from magazine Jakarta Communication Club: Apa Kabar, Vol 50, 2010. The research applied qualitative study using descriptive analysis method. Research aims to give better understanding for Japanese language learners in using the Japanese verbs benkyousuru, manabu, renshuusuru, narau. Besides, the learners can use these verbs properly as well. Result of the research shows that the verbs have different use and also different use of nouns attaching on the verbs.

The Museum of Jakarta Historical, which popularly known as Fatahillah museum, is one of the importance historical buildings in Indonesia with abudance hictorical value. This neoclassic architectural building that was built around the 17th century had already been altered its function for several times, such as: a city hall (stadhius), the house of parliament, a prison especially to hang the convict, a military dorm in the end of colonial period, and a museum in the independence period. All changes of the Fatahillah Museum were observered with qualitative method accompanying with hermeneutics approach to describe its post-colonial study as a relevance result to its casual critical issue and culture. Hence, it could give another perspective of the meaning behind the colonization that ever happened and its impact nowadays. Today, the Fatahillah museum is still standing strong and majestic. The beauty of the architecture becomes a marker that colonial architecture has contributed indirectly to the development of architecture in Indonesia, apart from its function in the past. By studying the interpreted means of the Fatahillah Museum changes in function, the inheritance task is to care for and to preserve the Fatahillah Museum as one of historical witnesses.

The objective of the study is to find the solution to the problem outlined, which is to create an alternative design for corporate identity of ASITA. ASITA is a non-profit organization to foster tours and travel agencies in Indonesia. The writer conducted interview to the ASITA Jakarta Chapter, which was appointed to represent ASITA in providing the data needed by the writer. The writer interviewed the advisor of the organization, which had once served as chairperson of ASITA. The result of the research is new corporate identity system of ASITA based on a concept that ASITA as an organization, serves as a compass that guides and assists in every direction. The writer found that corporate identity is an important element to define an organization as well as giving impact on its first impression. To create good corporate identity, several things such as elements of design, color, typography, etc need to be put into attention.

This article discusses the development of human resources within an organization or company. One approach that can be done to improve the quality of human resources is mentoring activities. By using library study method, research found that mentoring activities give a positive impact not only for the mentee but also for the mentor and can improve performance of the organization or company. Thus mentoring with a variety of models can be used effectively for the development of human resources in order to support the organization to be more competitive and to face the globalization. Although there are challenges in implementing mentoring activities, with good planning and regular evaluation, maximum results can be achieved.

Comic book is a literary medium which communicates via images. It has been part of Indonesian culture since a long time. Back to the 9th century, reliefs of Borobudur temple are proves of the early comic culture in Indonesia. Each relief panel of the Borobudur temple was made with a series of sequential scenes that depict many scenes of the 8th century’s daily life in ancient Java and the story of Sudhana and Manohara. It was made with the same principle of any comics nowadays. This article is a literature study with data gathered from both printed and electronic media. Field observation was done as well to obtain concrete data. Based on the result, comics can be categorized by its forms and formats, such as comic strip, comic book, and graphic novel. With stunning images and increasing in genres, comics easily become one of mass culture. Comics had a lowbrow reputation for much of its history, but nowadays it recieves more and more positive recognition and within academia. Its contribution to the field of entertainment, education, and imagination, especially to the young generation, makes comics as one of the important means of communication.

Chinese restaurants are obviously connected to Chinese culture for it holds a great importance and is even the core point of creating art. The art would be based upon the aesthetic contents which contain symbolic meaning in Chinese philosophy. In a typical chinese restaurant the connection between tradition and art is represented in the form of ornaments that acts functionally and has specific unique characteristics. This study was conducted by qualitative method with survey, interview, and documentation of the ornaments in chinese restaurant. This study aims to introduce and enrich the knowledge, as the ornaments stand for showing the identity of chinese culture in chinese restaurant. The aesthetical theory about the art of design and the implementation of chinese ornaments took part in the study as well. Result of the study shows that the chinese restaurant observed has implemented the interior and applied the ornaments well in showing chinese identity. Besides, the materials used for furniture and interior elements have given the nuances of Chinese culture. Study concludes that the aesthetic atmosphere of the interior of Dian Xiao Er Restaurant is calm, peaceful, and relaxing like sitting in a modest diner. The dynamics that was created is something impressed repetitive yet not boring

Crisis in youth will impact his/her personal growth, attitude, and negative sense in emotional response. The negative sense in emotional response will drive his/her action to do bad things and will disturb his/her life. To understand the negative emotional attitude when youth facing crisis, parents need to understand the crisis period, the roles, and the responsibilities of parents to help the youth overcome the crisis. The explanation is given by using qualitative data analysis and conducted concurrently with gathering data, making interpretations, and writing report. The study shows the negative emotional response of youth will impact the negative attitudes and actions. In this case, parents must guide the youth for spiritual mindsets in order to affect positive emotional attitudes and actions. The positive spiritual action will be reflected by understanding the God’s Words in solving the problem, finding the way out, and overcoming the crisis. Hence, the youth crisis is not a disaster, but the reflection to reach the positive improvement.

BINUS students are supposed to increase their English competence indicated by their TOEFL scores. This paper aims to observe the differences between studens TOEFL scores obtained when they entered BINUS and the scores after they joined TOEFL courses at BINUS for one year. The participants were 121 students. The data for the entrance test were taken from the BINUS data center and the final test data were taken from their final test at English class. The data were analysed using statistics especially the descriptive statistics, comparing means, and correlation. To support the quantative data, a set of questionnaires was distributed to those 121 students. The results show that the students’ TOEFL scores have increased significantly in the final test compared to those in the entrance test. The low achiever students showed a better performance than the higher ones. Students’ motivation and background support their English study. Students proved to have the most problem in listening. The results of the research are expected to be the input for English lecturers to improve their teaching especially the existence of SALLC (Self Access Language Learning Center).

This research is the continuation of previous research. The research is included in the creation of visual communication solutions on how a process of visual communication strategy can contribute a persuasive invitation. Research aims to expose the solution in the realm of visual communication. The research applied qualitative method. It began with the development of communicators becoming a mascot, continued on the delivery of messages through the comics, and invited children as audience target for design experience with game and gimmick. Result of the research is the visual design, as well as including the process of visual communication creation. As a conclusion, creating a visual communication solution could be carried out by the same method, similar matching scope, as well as the contents adjusted with new needs.

Karmawibhangga Relief panel located at the foot of Borobudur is a relic of the visual artifacts that contains fragments of past life with a very high historical value. 160 Karmawibhangga panels tell the reality of people's lives at the time wrapped with a moral message plight. The relief provides a lot of visual references to be excavated and reconstructed again for the benefit of the creative industries today. This research digged one small part of the masterpieces of the past through photography. Understanding visual artists who create these reliefs will be beauty in the show gestures in building a very interesting story to be re-examined. Visual communication through gestures in relief Karmawibhangga enables new assumptions about body language dialect differences to current conditions. Through model genre photography, it is very useful in connection with the development of local nuanced scientific photography. Efforts to develop the traditions and culture through new media are expected to be creative commodity with a very strong product differentiation.
