Every industry needs IT to improve their business and give faster service to customer. The fast growing of social network (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn) and Smartphone (Blackberry and iPhone) in Indonesia indicate that Indonesian people are already familiar with high technology and it is the right time to introduce new technology in Indonesia. The problem is, the usage of IT-based system in Indonesia is not optimal. Nowadays, people want to do almost everything faster and more convenient using technology. We know thatuntil now, there are a lot of situations that make people queue or wait to get their need. In this kind of situation, we need something that will change the way to do business, that is in effective and efficient way. NFC (Near Field Communication) is considered suitable as the solution. NFC technology as one of payment systems can increase competitive advantage of the company which implements it and will make it a leader in the industry. This new technology could attract customers, especially Indonesian people in big cities who want to do their transaction in quick and efficient way. NFC is already implemented in Korea and USA as substitution of e-wallet that can help people to make transactions easier and faster. I believe NFC can be implemented in Indonesia to make new trend of doing business.

The purposeof this study is to analyze, evaluate and recommend infrastructure of information technology that addresses its flexibility to run along the continouing development of the company, to avoid the potential risk that may come which is more costly for the company due to failure in dealing with those changes.To obtain more accurate data and information, this study uses observation and interview technique with the top management and key person from Information Technology Department. It can be concluded that strengthening the information technology infrastructure is able to strengthen business processes that built upon it, and enhance more value to the company.

Government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) encourages the energy savings at whole buildings in Indonesia. Energy Monitoring System (EMS) is a web-based solution to monitor energy usage in a building. The research methods used are the analysis, prototype design and testing. EMSconsists of hardware which consists of electrical sensors, temperature-humidity sensor, and a computer. Data on EMS are designed using Modbus protocol, stored in MySQL database application, and displayed on charts through Dashboard on LED TV using PHP programming.

Implementing an appropriate branding strategy supports a company in putting its product or service to be customers’ top of mind. Aligned with the development of information technology, especially the Internet, merging branding with internet (i-branding) creates a unique characteristic for a company. It is very helpful for a company in competing in the free market. Therefore, it is important for a company to know information about customer perception in assessing i-branding that has been applied to its website. As an educational institution which is a pioneer in the use of information technology, Binus University concerns much about its branding on the official website (www.binus.ac.id). This study is conducted to assess the i-branding of Binus University on the point of view of its students as customers. This study uses Four Pillars of i-branding consisting the following variables: customer understanding, marketing communication, interactivity, content, and customer loyalty consisting of trust and satisfaction. The hypothesis is tested by correlation analysis and regression analysis. Based on correlation analysis, all hypotheses of H1 (no relation) is received and based on regression analysis,all hypotheses of H1 (bring effects) is received.

PT OneJect Indonesia faces the high level of defect on its barrel products. To overcome this problem, this study proposes an application quality control based on information system. We implement requirement analysis based on the needs of quality control methods, while to lower the defect rate we utilize Six Sigmamethod with DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) phases. In define phase we determine the type of product to be investigated using Critical to Quality, as well as the problems and objectives. In measure phase we calculate DPMO value and sigma level; sigma value of 3.520 is obtained. Then we calculate P control chart to see the production process control. In analyze phase we create pareto diagram to see the types of dominant defects. Then we create cause-and-effect diagram to determine the cause of defects, and five whys diagram to determine the root causes of the defects. In improve phase, we do improvement analysis through FMEA table by calculating the RPN value to determine the failure modes to be controlled. In control phase, we implement the proposal and simulation of sigma value increase. The analysis and design uses object-oriented information system by Lars Mathiasen, and UML as the requirement modeling and the design system. The results obtained are the documents of top-level analysis and design of information system as a quality control material for the actual system development.

Zappos established in 1999 runs its business by selling shoes online (e-commerce). The founder of the company originally wanted to provide the most diverse selection to its customers by providing all the brands, styles, sizes, and colors. Now Zappos begins to expand its product line. Zappos organizes all aspects of its business (including the hiring, organization's culture, call center, inventory, website, and supply chain) to provide the best service that gives a "wow" to each party that interacts with the company. Zappos grows rapidly. In 2008 its net sales (net of customer returns) of approximately $650 million. Even so, Zappos also faces a difficult time during recession. This case describes how the core competencies of a company's e-commerce which experiences early success quickly can survive a hit. Continuing to rely on organizational culture and customer service which are a long-term investment and relatively more expensive than other conventional approaches, Zappos can cut costs.

The use of diverse database technology in enterprise today can not be avoided. Thus, technology is needed to generate information in real time. The purpose of this research is to discuss a database replication technology that can be applied in heterogeneous database environments. In this study we use Windows-basedMS SQL Server database to Linux-based Oracle database as the goal. The research method used is prototyping where development can be done quickly and testing of working models of the interaction process is done through repeated. From this research it is obtained that the database replication technolgy using Oracle Golden Gate can be applied in heterogeneous environments in real time as well.

E-learning is a media that used in order to help learning process. This paper aims to determine the components that support Binusmaya to become one of e-learning media. It also describes the benefits that can be provided by binusmaya as a learning media. Additionally, this paper analysis the constraints that must beconsidered in implementing Binusmaya so that it can give benefit optimally. Data and information used in this paper are obtained from several books, website, journal and questionnaires related with topic. The result from this paper is expected to provide information and knowledge about binusmaya as a learning media based elearning.

Internet network which is public and global is unsafe, so the security of public Internet-based information system needs to be considered. When a data is sent from one computer to another on the Internet, it will pass through a number of other computers that are meant to give the user an opportunity to take over one or several computers. denial of service attacks is one of the web security systems which can inhibit the activity of the work of a service even turn it off, so the authorized user cannot use the service. There is an attempt of certain parties to prevent a user access to a system or network by flooding the traffic network with so much data from unregistered users. It makes the user unable to log into the network system. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the cause of the denial of service attack on a web system using literature study. The result of this research is a method to overcome denial of service attack as well as the prevention techniques. This study concludes that securing techniques should be implemented extra carefully on DoS attacks (Denial-of-Service Attacks). Therefore, the attacker cannot overwhelm the network IP address and disrupt communication between a server and its client that may reject user’s request access to a system or a network service provided by a host.

The main problems of current system in agriculture ministry is sub-optimal information retrieval of realization and development of agriculture capital and production facilities subvention. Therefore, this research aims to analyze and design information system for monitoring and evaluation of subvention of agriculture capital and production facilities. This information system is developed based on internet technology to help the main team (agriculture minister and technical team of directorate agriculture department), coach team of provincial agriculture office, and technical team of district/city agriculture office to access the accurate information related realization and development of agriculture business any where and any time. It is designed with OOAD (object oriented analysis and design) method by using UML notation (use case diagram, class diagram, component architecture and user interface design). This research produces a design of information system for subvention monitoring and evaluation of agriculture capital and production facilities for the ministry of agriculture RI.
