Abstract

Biometric technology is an efficient personal authentication andidentification technique. As one of the main-stream branches, dorsal handvein recognition has been recently attracted the attention of researchers. It is more preferable than the other types of biometrics becuse it’s impossible to steal or counterfeit the patterns and the pattern of the vessels of back of the hand is fixed and unique with repeatable biometric features. Also, the recent researches have been obtained no certain recognition rate yet becuse of the noises in the imaging patterns, and impossibility of Dimension reducing because of the non-complexity of the models, and proof of correctness of identification is required. Therefore, in this paper, first, the images of blood vessels on back of the hands of people is analysed, and after pre-processing of images and feature extraction (in the intersection between the vessels) we began to identify people using firefly clustering algorithms. This identification is done based on the distance patterns between crossing vessels and their matching place. The identification will be done based on the classification of each part of NCUT data set and it consisting of 2040 dorsal hand vein images. High speed in patterns recognition and less computation are the advantages of this method. The recognition rate of this method ismore accurate and the error is less than one percent. At the end thecorrectness percentage of this method (CLU-D-F-A) for identification iscompared with other various algorithms, and the superiority of the proposed method is proved.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i1.1760

Abstract

IEEE 802.16 standard was designed to support the vehicle tracking system applications with quality of service(QOS). Tracking system is used for tracking the vehicles in hill stations with quality of service(QOS). With the help of subscriber station(SS) can track the vehicles. Subscriber station’s will provide signals to the mobiles and vehicles .In this paper, we propose a scheme, named vehicle tracking system, to track the vehicles without any interrupt in hill stations with quality of service(QOS). The idea of the proposed scheme is to track the vehicles in the roads of the hill stations which is coming in opposite direction and back of the vehicle. Analysis and simulations are used to evaluate the proposed scheme. Simulation and analysis results confirm  that the proposed can track the vehicles with the help of subscriber station by given quality of service(QOS). Scheduling algorithms are proposed to improve the overall throughput. The simulation results show that our proposed algorithm improves the overall throughput by 40% in a steady network.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i1.2131

Abstract

Recently, the demand for high power quality by customers, has increased significantly. Common power equipment to protect sensitive loads against voltage disturbances in distribution networks, which are known by D-FACTS devices include: D-STATCOM , DVR  and UPQC. Consequences resulting from industrial processes can be classified into two categories that are, nonlinear and unbalanced loads and high vulnerability to transient faults (such as voltage sag) in distribution systems. DVR is a equipment  which  was connected  in series  and  adjusting  the  loading  voltage by feeding  the  voltage  in  system. The  first  installation  was  in 1996.  usually  DVR  installed  between  sensitive loads feeder  and  source  in  distribution system. The  main  duty, fast support load  voltage (by fast detection algorithm)  during  disturbance  to  avoid  any  disconnection. In this paper approaches to compensate for voltage sag and swell as a common disturbance in voltage transmission and distribution networks is presented. A dynamic voltage restorer based on the average detection method for single-phase is discussed, in the other hand  this  paper describes the effect to using  DVR  inorder  to  restoring the voltage sag and swell by difference per-unit value method(average detection) in  distribution  system. Abstract

One of the main problems in power systems is dynamic stability and damping of Electromechanical  oscillations which for this reason power system stabilizers are being used and the method for determining the location of stabilizer for the purpose of damping critical modes, is using participation factors, in which controllability and observability of modes have influence. The real value or the amplitude of participation factor is usually used as evaluation criterion, while in case that the real values of participation factors are close, the imaginary part of these coefficients are also influential, and if the imaginary part of coefficients are either negative or positive, different results will be obtained. The method introduced in this paper, in modes that the value of participation factors are close to each other, priority for the placement of generator, installation of stabilizer and the optimum value for the stabilizer's gain, is very accurate and appropriate.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i1.1835

Abstract

Internet allows individuals to share the information.  The shared information is like text, image, audio and video files.  This information sharing results in some problems such as copyright violation, unauthorized use of documents. Such problems can be solved by using a technique called as digital watermarking. Abstract

State estimation theory is one of the best mathematical approaches to analyze variants in the states of the system or process. The state of the system is defined by a set of variables that provide a complete representation of the internal condition at any given instant of time. Filtering of Random processes is referred to as Estimation, and is a well defined statistical technique. There are two types of state estimation processes, Linear and Nonlinear. Linear estimation of a system can easily be analyzed by using Kalman Filter (KF) but  is optimal only when the model is linear .But  Most of the state estimation problems are nonlinear, thereby limiting the practical applications of the KF and EKF. Unscented Kalman filter and Particle filter are best known for nonlinear estimates. The approach in this paper is to analyze the algorithm for maneuvering target tracking using   bearing only measurements for both Gaussian /Nongaussian distributions where UKF provides better probability of state estimation.  Montecarlo computer simulations are used to analyse the performance .The simulations results showed that UKF provides better performance for Gaussian distributed models compared to the nongaussian models.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i1.326
