Abstract

In this paper, the synchronization problem of T chaotic system and Lu chaotic system is studied. The parameter of the drive T chaotic system is considered unknown. An adaptive projective lag control method and also parameter estimation law are designed to achieve chaos synchronization problem between two chaotic systems. Then Lyapunov stability theorem is utilized to prove the validity of the proposed control method. After that, some numerical simulations are performed to assess the performance of the proposed method. The results show high accuracy of the proposed method in control and synchronization of chaotic systems.

Abstract

In cloud computing, immediate access of resources is important due to cost incurred to customer by pay per use model of cloud computing. Usually resource is protected by using cryptography technique. The resource may be shared by multiple members in group. There can be overlapping members to access the multiple resources. Group key management is important to form the group key to access the resource. Group key formation time is crucial for immediate access of protected resource in cloud computing. Thus ternary tree based approach is proposed to form the key for overlapping members accessing resources. Membership event such as join and leave also considered. Through the analysis, it is found that computational overhead is reduced by 23% if ternary key trees are combined than independent ternary key trees. It is also observed that combined ternary key tree outperforms the combined binary key tree approach for group key formation by considering overlapping members. Security requirement analysis of group membership for key formation is also provided in the paper.

Abstract

Notches loaded on a patch antenna can affect significantly on ‎the antenna impedance matching. Therefore, notching technique is an efficient way to reduce ‎the electromagnetic interference with unwanted bands. In this paper, a ‎novel inverted diamond‏-‏shaped closed-end slot on a substrate and ‎vertex-fed printed hexagonal patch ultra‏-‏wideband antenna is proposed for high-frequency band rejection. This antenna is fed using ‎coplanar waveguide, and it is optimised by veering several patch ‎parameters which further improved the inter bandwidth at both the ‎lower and upper bands. However, the centre-notched band is shifted ‎from 6 GHz to 7.5 GHz by cutting the inverted diamond shape in a ‎special process. The developed ultra-wideband antenna is verified by ‎comparing the simulation results with the measurement results. The ‎measured results with a fractional bandwidth of 133% have a good ‎agreement with the simulation results 146%. Moreover, the measured radiation showed omnidirectional patterns‎.

Abstract

FES induced movements from indication is promising due to encouraging results being obtained by scholars. The kinematic model usually constitute the initial phase towards achieving the segmental dynamics of any rigid body system. It can be used to ascertain that the model is capable of achieving the desired goal. The dynamic model builds on the kinematic model and is usually mathematically cumbersome depending on the number of degrees-of-freedom. This paper presents a kinematic model applicable for human sit-to-stand movement scenario that will be used to obtain the dynamic model the FES induced movement in a later study. The study shows that the 6 DOF conceptualized sit-to-stand movement can be achieved conveniently using 4 DOF. The 4 DOF has an additional joint compared to similar earlier works which makes more it accurate and flexible. It is more accurate in the sense that it accommodates additional joint i.e. the neck joint whose dynamics could be captured. And more flexible in the sense that if future research uncover more contributions by the segments it can be easily incorporated including that of other segments e.g. the trunk, neck and upper limbs.

Abstract

This paper evaluates the harmonic distortion generated by PWM motor drives in an electrical industrial system of a wheat flour mill company. For this, a comparative study between two industrial circuits connected at the same point of common coupling (PCC) with similar characteristics of load and transformers is presented. The difference is that one circuit has PWM motor drives and the other does not have them. In the study, a practical method based on the statistical characterization of the total harmonic distortion of voltage (THDV) and current (THDI), individual voltage distortion (IVD), individual current distortion (ICD) and K-Factor is applied. As result, it was observed that PWM motor drives generated voltage harmonics mainly of fifth and seventh order with values that exceed limits established by standards in both circuits. With these values, the operation of elements such as capacitors, motors and transformers can be affected. In the work is also demonstrated that in the analysis of harmonics is necessary to consider various parameters and not only one.

Abstract

Search engine is the popular term for an information retrieval (IR) system. Typically, search engine can be based on full-text indexing. Changing the presentation from the text data to multimedia data types make an information retrieval process more complex such as a retrieval of image or sounds in large databases. This paper introduces the use of language and text independent speech as input queries in a large sound database by using Speaker identification algorithm. The method consists of 2 main processing first steps, we separate vocal and non-vocal identification after that vocal be used to speaker identification for audio query by speaker voice. For the speaker identification and audio query by process, we estimate the similarity of the example signal and the samples in the queried database by calculating the Euclidian distance between the Mel frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC) and Energy spectrum of acoustic features. The simulations show that the good performance with a sustainable computational cost and obtained the average accuracy rate more than 90%.

Abstract

The demand for internet applications has increased rapidly.  Providing quality of service (QoS) requirements for varied internet application is a challenging task. One important factor that is significantly affected on the QoS service is the transport layer. The transport layer provides end-to-end data transmission across a network. Currently, the most common transport protocols used by internet application are TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol). Also, there are recent transport protocols such as DCCP (data congestion control protocol), SCTP (stream congestion transmission protocol), and TFRC (TCP-friendly rate control), which are in the standardization process of Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). In this paper, we evaluate the performance of  UDP, DCCP, SCTP and TFRC protocols for different traffic flows: data transmission, video traffic, and VOIP in wired networks. The performance criteria used for this evaluation include throughput, end to end delay, and packet loss rate. Well-known network simulator NS-2 used to implement the UDP, DCCP, SCTP, and TFRC protocols performance comparison. Based on the simulation results, the performance throughput of  SCTP and TFRC is better than UDP. Moreover, DCCP performance is superior SCTP and TFRC in term of end-to-end delay.

Abstract

A social network is indeed an abstraction of related groups interacting amongst themselves to develop relationships. However, toanalyze any relationships and psychology behind it, clustering plays a vital role. Clustering enhances the predictability and discoveryof like mindedness amongst users. This article’s goal exploits the technique of Ensemble K-means clusters to extract the entities and their corresponding interestsas per the skills and location by aggregating user profiles across the multiple online social networks. The proposed ensemble clustering utilizes known K-means algorithm to improve results for the aggregated user profiles across multiple social networks. The approach produces an ensemble similarity measure and provides 70% better results than taking a fixed value of K or guessing a value of K while not altering the clustering method. This paper states that good ensembles clusters can be spawned to envisage the discoverability of a user for a particular interest.

Abstract

DVB-T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial Second Generation) reception requires a sufficient quality of the received signal. CNR (carrier-to-noise ratio) and BER (bit-error-rate) are two of quantities describing the quality. This paper presents the range of each quantity providing a successful reception based on real data obtained by field-measurements. This data was collected from MO (mobile-outdoor) and SI (stationary-indoor) receiving-systems capturing signal sent by some on-air trial transmitters broadcasting services focused on the fixed-receivers. The result indicated that the successful and failed receptions were split into two quite separated (concentrated) ranges of post-decoded BER and therefore a boundary distinguishing them could be prominently defined. In contrast, they were spread in a wide common range of CNR and pre-decoded BER. Furthermore, the boundary that corresponded to this last quantity was ambiguous. In the case of MO reception as numerical examples, the two split ranges of post-decoded BER were less than about 10-5 and more than about 2.7 × 10-4 for the successful and failed receptions, respectively, whereas CNR as high as about 14 dB could be viewed as a soft boundary distinguishing these both reception-success conditions.

Abstract

Blood cells diagnosis is becoming essential to ensure a proper treatment can be proposed to a blood related disease patient. In current research trending, automated complete blood count analysis system is required for pathologists or researchers to count the blood cells from the blood smeared images. Hence, a portable mobile-based complete blood count (CBC) analysis framework with the aid of microscope is proposed, and the smartphone camera is mounted to the viewing port of the light microscope by adding a smartphone support. Initially, the blood smeared image is acquired from a light microscope with objective zoom of 100X magnifications view the eyepiece zoom of 10X magnification, then captured by the smartphone camera. Next, the areas constitute to the WBC and RBC are extracted using combination of color space analysis, threshold and Otsu procedure. Then, the number of corresponding cells are counted using topological structural analysis, and the cells in clumped region is estimated using Hough Circle Transform (HCT) procedure. After that, the analysis results are saved in the database, and shown in the user interface of the smartphone application. Experimental results show the developed system can gain 92.93% accuracy for counting the RBC whereas 100% for counting the WBC.
