In this paper, we present a new dual band metamaterial printed antenna for radio frequency identification applications. The proposed antenna consists of two L-shaped slot in the radiating element for dual band operation and a complementary split ring resonator etched from the ground plane for size miniaturization. This antenna is designed and optimized by CST microwave studio on FR-4 substrate with thickness of 1.6 mm, dielectric constant of 4.4 and tangent loss of 0.025. A microstrip line with characteristic impedance of 50 ohms is used to feed this antenna. A prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated to validate the simulation results. The measured and simulated results are in good agreement.

In Round Robin Scheduling the time quantum is fixed and then processes are scheduled such that no process get CPU time more than one time quantum in one go. The performance of Round robin CPU scheduling algorithm is entirely dependent on the time quantum selected. If time quantum is too large, the response time of the processes is too much which may not be tolerated in interactive environment. If time quantum is too small, it causes unnecessarily frequent context switch leading to more overheads resulting in less throughput. In this paper a method using Manhattan distance has been proposed that decides a quantum value. The computation of the time quantum value is done by the distance or difference between the highest burst time and lowest burst time. The experimental analysis also shows that this algorithm performs better than RR algorithm and by reducing number of context switches, reducing average waiting time and also the average turna round time.

This research proposes a model of face recognition using the method of joining two face images from left and right lens from a stereo vision camera namely half-join method. Half-join method is used in face image normalization processing. The proposed half-join method is a face images joining model, which is called asymmetrical half-join. In asymmetrical half-join method, a RoI (region of interest) of face image from left and right lenses are provided based on axis center of each eye in eye detection. The cropping of face image from asymmetrical half-join model has different width depends on eyes coordinate location. The proposed system shows that the asymmetrical half-join method can produce a better of face recognition rate. The experimental results show that the asymmetrical half-join method has a better recognition rate and computation time than single vision method and symmetrical half-join method.

Getting enough sleep at the right times can help in improving quality of life and protect mental and physical health. This study proposes a portable sleep monitoring device to determine the relationship between the ambient temperature and quality of sleep. Body condition parameter such as heart rate, body temperature and body movement was used to determine quality of sleep. All readings will be log into database so that users can review back and hence analyze quality of sleep. The functionality of the overall system is designed for a better experience with a very minimal intervention to the user. The simple test on the body condition (body temperature and heart rate) while asleep with several different ambient temperatures are varied and the result shows that someone has a better sleep for the temperature range of 23 to 28 degree Celsius. This can prove by lower body temperature and lower heart rate.

Human population and power consumption keeps on growing with each year. In order to satisfy electricity demand, more electrical energy has to be supplied, resulting in higher magnetic field level radiation. In rapid urbanization country, lack of space will force civilization to be built near overhead transmission line that sparks public concern on adverse health effects due to the magnetic field radiation. A new UTHM hostel residential area was built near OTLs that shared the same concern. Thus a proper planning to conduct magnetic field level measurement was done to examine the maximum magnetic field level radiated that covered the hostel residential area. The results were far from reaching the maximum permissible magnetic field level proposed by ICNIRP. Though, the steps taken and the methods used might be suitable guidelines for others that encounter similar situations.

In the future solar energy will be very important source of energy. More than 45% of needed energy in the world will be generated by photovoltaic module. Therefore it is necessary to concentrate our efforts in order to reduce the application costs .This work investigates on the modeling of a Stand Alone Power System focusing on Photovoltaic energy systems. We introduce the models of the system components Therefore a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is needed to track the peak power in order to make full utilization of PV array output power under varying conditions. This paper presents two widely-adopted MPPT algorithms, perturbation & observation (P&O) and incremental conductance (IC).A complete characterization and simulation model was implemented in the Matlab-Simulink environment. Design complete system is done to analyze its behavior for a typical year, with the aim to evaluate their energetic effectiveness.

A new type of leaky-wave antenna (LWA) using half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) as the base structure is proposed in this paper. The structure consists of an array of slot, antenna designed to operate in X band applications from 8 to 12 GHz. HMSIW preserves nearly all the advantages of SIW whereas its size is nearly reduced by half. The antenna radiates one main beam that can be steered from the backward to the forward direction by changing frequency.

Code smell refers to any symptom introduced in design or implementation phases in the source code of a program. Such a code smell can potentially cause deeper and serious problems during software maintenance. The existing approaches to detect bad smells use detection rules or standards using a combination of different object-oriented metrics. Although a variety of software detection tools have been developed, they still have limitations and constraints in their capabilities. In this paper, a code smell detection system is presented with the neural network model that delivers the relationship between bad smells and object-oriented metrics by taking a corpus of Java projects as experimental dataset. The most well-known object-oriented metrics are considered to identify the presence of bad smells. The code smell detection system uses the twenty Java projects which are shared by many users in the GitHub repositories. The dataset of these Java projects is partitioned into mutually exclusive training and test sets. The training dataset is used to learn the network model which will predict smelly classes in this study. The optimized network model will be chosen to be evaluated on the test dataset. The experimental results show when the modelis highly trained with more dataset, the prediction outcomes are improved more and more. In addition, the accuracy of the model increases when it performs with higher epochs and many hidden layers.

In this paper, reconfigurable metamaterial structure at millimeter wave frequency range was designed and simulated for a future fifth generation (5G) mobile-phone beam switching applications. The new proposed structure was composed of a bridge-shaped resonator (BSR) in the front face and strip line at the back face of the unit cell which operates at 28 GHz. First, non-reconfigurable low loss BSR unit cell was designed and subsequently, the reconfigurability was achieved using four switches formed in the gaps of the structure. The proposed structure achieves the lowest loss and almost full transmission among its counterparts by -0.06 dB (0.99 in linear scale). To demonstrate the reconfigurability of the metamaterial, the reflection and transmission coefficients and real parts of the effective refractive index at each reconfigured frequency were studied and investigated. Simulation results showed that a high transmission and reflection peaks occur at each resonance frequency according to change the state of the switches.

Process of conveying liquid substance via the pipeline is the most common practice of transferring the liquid from one point to another point. Composite pipeline is becoming an option for liquid conveying purposed (instead of PVC, acrylic or metal) for its durability, longer lifetime and non-corrosive material in comparison with current pipeline. In order to ensure, the conveying process has a smooth flow rate without particle or bubble disturbance that could hinder good process flow, non-invasive monitoring system is always required. The ultrasonic measuring system is one of the monitoring options that could be applied. With proper designed for transmitting and conditioning circuitry, 300 kHz ultrasonic frequencies are found as the optimal frequency needed to penetrate across the composite pipeline with full of liquid. The ultrasonic sensor response is being successfully differentiated between full flow (no material blockage) and with bulk material blockage (dry and wet sand).
