Abstract

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has established into a powerful solution for our construction requirements throughout its life cycle. Compared to conventional methods, BIM offers simple, faster and accurate methodology for modelling, estimation and analysis. In this paper, a novel Autodesk Revit add-in tool named as “Electrical System Estimation and Costing Tool”(ESECT) is proposed for the simultaneous estimation of electrical connected load, demand load, Volt Ampere per square meter, cost of electrical system construction and monthly bill from a residential building model and the add-in tool is developed by using Visual basic C# language.  Research results indicate that wide range of BIM automated tools are possible for code-checking and estimation for design analysis at all stages of electrical system development and eventually leads to better design and cost reduction.

Abstract

learning has been adopted by businesses to analyze their vast data in order to make strategic decision. However, knowledge in machine learning and technical skill are usually required to prepare data and perform machine learning tasks. This obstacle prevents smaller businesses with no technical knowledge to utilize machine learning. In this paper, we propose an architecture for simplified and automated machine learning process currently supporting the data classification task. The architecture includes a method for characterizing datasets, which allows for simplifying and automating machine learning model and hyperparameter selection based on historical execution configurations. Users can simply upload their datasets via a web browser, and the system will determine the possible models and their hyperparameter configurations for the users to choose from. The prototype shows the feasibility of the proposed architecture. Although the accuracy is still limited by the small execution history and the cleanliness of the input datasets, the architecture can minimize user involvement in the machine learning process so that non-technical users can perform data classification through a web browser without installing any software.

Abstract

Given a video of ???? frames of size ℎ × ????. Background components of a video are the elements matrix which relative constant over ???? frames. In PCA (principal component analysis) method these elements are referred as “principal components”. In video processing, background subtraction means excision of background component from the video. PCA method is used to get the background component. This method transforms 3 dimensions video (ℎ × ???? × ????) into 2 dimensions one (???? × ????), where ???? is a linear array of size ℎ × ????. The principal components are the dominant eigenvectors which are the basis of an eigenspace. The limited memory block Krylov subspace optimization then is proposed to improve performance the computation. Background estimation is obtained as the projection each input image (the first frame at each sequence image) onto space expanded principal component. The procedure was run for the standard dataset namely SBI (Scene Background Initialization) dataset consisting of 8 videos with interval resolution [146 150, 352 240], total frame [258,500]. The performances are shown with 8 metrics, especially (in average for 8 videos) percentage of error pixels (0.24%), the percentage of clustered error pixels (0.21%), multiscale structural similarity index (0.88 form maximum 1), and running time (61.68 seconds).

Abstract

The ouput power of solar panel that decreased due to shading has been improved using bypass diode method. The placement of bypass diodes increased the output current and power. New peaks and maximum powerpoints on the current-svoltage characteristics and power-voltage characteristics were observed. Without bypass diodes, the maximum output power was only around 50 W. After placing bypass diodes, the first peak around 115 W and second peak around 150 W appeared at voltage of around 31 V and 40 V, respectively.

Abstract

The Iraqi fuel station still now uses old technologies to control its activities from filling tanks to the filling cars. Automate the activity of fuel station is the objective of this work. The aims of fuel station automation are to save the fuel quantities and qualities supplied in fuel station, and to keep the fuel station, the worker and its main parts safe. This work uses the national instrument wireless sensor network (NI WSN). The NI WSN used to automate the protection system and level controlling system which makes the fuel station work under normal ambient temperature, and normal protection conditions. Automation based on a wireless sensor network gives excellent capabilities to automate and monitor fuel station. Through the user interface window the user monitor the status of actuators, protection system controller messages, fuel levels, water level, environment temperature, power source and its quality. The soft controller developed was built within The LABVIEW environment. The results of controller give the desired action through "on" and “off” states of the actuators.

Abstract

The proposed digital parity generator circuit is an integrated circuit functions to detect data errors at the transmitter end, and check it at the receiving end. In digital communications, the digital messages are transmitted in the form of 1’s and 0’s between two points. It is an error free if both are the same. The purpose of this research is to implement a design method of digital parity generator layout with 0.7 micron process technology ECPD07 from Tanner Tools. Layout design starts from making schematic circuit, test function and make a layout. Next, check the layout results in terms of design rules and verify the desired functionality gradually. The results show that the circuit has functioned well as an odd parity generator. The simulation results obtained with loads CL = 25 fF, tpLH = 2nS and tpHL = 1.46 nS indicate that tp = 1.73nS or operating frequency of 578 MHz. The integrated digital parity generator circuit using transmission gate has a size of 14758 um2 (78.5 um x188 um), consisting of 74 gates.

Abstract

Cloud computing is one of the fastest growing and popular technology in the field of computing. As the concept of cloud computing was introduced in 2006. Since then large number of IT industries join the queue to develop many cloud services and put sensitive information over cloud. In fact cloud computing is no doubt the great innovation in the field of computing but at the same time also poses many challenges. Since a large number of organizations migrate their business to cloud and hence it appears as an attractive target for the malicious attack. The purpose of the paper is to review the available literature for security concerns and highlight a relationship between vulnerabilities, attacks and threats in SaaS model. A mapping is being presented to highlight the impact of vulnerabilities and attacks.

Abstract

The defect present in the bearing of a rolling element may affect the performance of the rotating machinery and may reduce its efficiency. For this reason the condition monitoring of a rolling element bearing is very essential. So many measuring parameters are there to diagnose the fault in a rolling element bearing. Acoustic signature monitoring is one of them. Every rolling element bearing has its own acoustic signature when it is in healthy condition and when the bearing get defected then there is a change in its original acoustic signature. This change in acoustic signature can be monitored and analyzed to detect the fault present in the bearing. But the noise present in the acquired acoustic signal may affect the analysis. So the noisy acoustic signal must be filtered before the analysis. In this work the experiment is performed in two stages. In first stage the filtration of the acquired acoustic signal is done by employing the active noise cancellation (ANC) filtering techniques. In second stage the filtered signal is used for the further analysis. For the analysis initially the static analysis is done and then the frequency and the time-frequency analysis is done to diagnose the defect in the bearing. From all the three analysis the information about the defect present in the bearing is well detected.

Abstract

Unmaned Aircraft Systems (UAS) have been increasing in popularity in personal, commercial, and military applications. The increase of the use of UAS poses a significant risk to general air travel, and will burden an already overburdened Air Traffic Control (ATC) network if the Air Traffic Management (ATM) system does not undergo a revolutionary change. Already there have been many near misses reported in the news with personal hobbyist UAS flying in controlled airspace near airports almost colliding with manned aircraft. The expected increase in the use of UAS over the upcoming years will exacerbate this problem, leading to a catastrophic incident involving substantial damage to property or loss of life. ATC professionals are already overwhelmed with the air traffic that exists today with only manned aircraft. With UAS expected to perform many tasks in the near future, the number of UAS will greatly outnumber the manned aircraft and overwhelm the ATC network in short order to the point where the current system will be rendered extremely dangerous, if not useless. This paper seeks to explore the possibility of using the artificial intelligence concept of fuzzy logic to automate the ATC system in order to handle the increased traffic due to UAS safely and efficiently. Automation would involve an algorithm to perform arbitration between aircraft based on signal input to ATC ground stations from aircraft, as well as signal output from the ATC ground stations to the aircraft. Fuzzy logic would be used to assign weights to the many different variables involved in ATM to find the best solution, which keeps aircraft on schedule while avoiding other aircraft, whether they are manned or unmanned. The fuzzy logic approach would find the weighted values for the available variables by running a simulation of air traffic patterns assigning different weights per simulation run, over many different runs of the simulation, until the best values are found that keep aircraft on schedule and maintain the required separation of aircraft

Abstract

Images, audio, and videos have been used by researchers for a long time to develop several tasks regarding human facial recognition and emotion detection. Most of the available datasets usually focus on either static expression, a short video of changing emotion from neutral to peak emotion, or difference in sounds to detect the current emotion of a person. Moreover, the common datasets were collected and processed in the United States (US) or Europe, and only several datasets were originated from Asia. In this paper, we present our effort to create a unique dataset that can fill in the gap by currently available datasets. At the time of writing, our datasets contain 10 full HD (1920 1080) video clips with annotated JSON file, which is in total 100 minutes of duration and the total size of 13 GB. We believe this dataset will be useful as a training and benchmark data for a variety of research topics regarding human facial and emotion recognition.
