The number of species of plants or flora in Indonesia is abundant. The wealth of Indonesia's flora species is not to be doubted. Almost every region in Indonesia has one or some distinctive plant(s) which may not exist in other countries. In enhancing the potential diversity of tropical plant resources, good management and utilization of biodiversity is required. Based on such diversity, plant classification becomes a challenge to do. The most common way to recognize between one plant and another is to identify the leaf of each plant. Leaf-based classification is an alternative and the most effective way to do because leaves will exist all the time, while fruits and flowers may only exist at any given time. In this study, the researchers will identify plants based on the textures of the leaves. Leaf feature extraction is done by calculating the area value, perimeter, and additional features of leaf images such as shape roundness and slenderness. The results of the extraction will then be selected for training by using the backpropagation neural network. The result of the training (the formation of the training set) will be calculated to produce the value of recognition accuracy with which the feature value of the dataset of the leaf images is then to be matched. The result of the identification of plant species based on leaf texture characteristics is expected to accelerate the process of plant classification based on the characteristics of the leaves.

The healthy food with attention of salt degree is one of the efforts for healthy living of hypertensive patient. The effort is important for reducing the probability of hypertension change to be dangerous disease. In this study, the food composition is build with attention nutrition amount, salt degree, and minimum cost. The proposed method is hybrid method of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS). The three scenarios of hybrid GA-VNS types had been developed in this study. Although hybrid GA and VNS take more time than pure GA or pure VNS but the proposed method give better quality of solution. VNS successfully help GA avoids premature convergence and improves better solution. The shortcomings on GA in local exploitation and premature convergence is solved by VNS, whereas the shortcoming on VNS that less capability in global exploration can be solved by use GA that has advantage in global exploration.

Recently, a wide range of speech signal processing algorithms (dysphonia measures) aiming to detect patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). So we have computed 19 dysphonia measures from sustained vowels collected from 375 voice samples from healthy and people suffer from PD. All the features are analysed and the more relevant ones are selected by the Principal component analysis (PCA) to classify the subjects in 4 classes according to the UPDRS (unified Parkinson’s disease Rating Scale) score. We used k-folds cross validation method with (k=4) validation scheme; 75% for training and 25% for testing, along with the Support Vector Machines (SVM) with its different types of kernels. The best result obtained was 92.5% using the PCA and the linear SVM.

This paper presents a second-order current-mode filter with three-inputs and single-output current using single voltage differencing current conveyors (VDCC) along with one resistor and two grounded capacitors. The design of presented filter emphasizes on the use of a single active element without the multiple terminals VDCC which is convenient to implement the VDCC using commercially available IC for the practical test. Also, it can reduce the current tracking error at current output port and can reduce the number of transistor in the VDCC. The proposed filter can realize all the five generic filter responses, namely, band-pass (BP), band-reject (BR), low-pass (LP), high-pass (HP), and all-pass (AP) functions from the same configuration under various conditions in terms of three input current signals. Furthermore, the natural frequency and quality factor are electronically controlled. The output current node exhibits high impedance. Besides, the non-ideal case is also investigated. The simulation and experimental results using VDCC constructed from commercially available IC can validate the theoretical analyses.

In this paper a new technique is presented to improve the jitter performance of conventional phase frequency detectors by completely removing the unnecessary one-shot pulse. This technique uses a variable pulse-height circuit to control the unnecessary one-shot pulse height. In addition, a novel charge-pump circuit with perfect current-matching characteristics is used to improve the output jitter performance of conventional charge pumps. This circuit is composed of a pair of symmetrical pump circuits to obtain a good current matching. As a result, the proposed charge-pump circuit has perfect current-matching characteristics, wide output range, no glitch output current, and no jump output voltage. In order to verify such operation, circuit simulation is performed using 0.18 μm CMOS process parameters.

A Compact microstrip antenna with rectangular slotted radiating element has been developed. Four slots have been introduced on the radiating element with the use of a partial ground plane and a wideband response has been obtained. The bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 1.7 GHz with a percentage bandwidth of 71%. A low-cost dielectric (FR4_EPOXY) has been considered in the development of the proposed antenna. The obtained frequency band is from 1.9 GHz to 3.6 GHz. To investigate the robustness of our modelled antenna the simulation process has been carried out using two different solvers (Finite Element Method and Finite Integration Technique). In addition, the designed antenna was realized and these results were compared with those of the simulation. The proposed antenna is suitable for many LTE bands {1, 3, 7… 38, 40} broadly deployed in European, South American, Asian, and African countries, Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), and WiMAX technology (3.5 GHz).

This paper presents a diagnostic analytics of harmonic source signature recognition of rectifier and inverter-based load in the distribution system with single-point measurement at the point of common coupling by utilizing Periodogram. Signature recognition pattern is used to distinguish the harmonic sources accurately by obtaining the distribution of harmonic and interharmonic components and the harmonic contribution changes. This is achieved by using the significant signature recognition of harmonic producing load obtained from analysing the harmonic contribution changes. Based on voltage and current signature analysis, the distribution of harmonic components can be divided into three zones. To distinguish between the harmonic producing loads, the harmonic components are observed at these zones to get the signature recognition pattern. The result demonstrate that periodogram technique accurately diagnose and distinguish the type of harmonic sources in the distribution system.
