Abstract

This research aimed to design the KvP meter for checking the error of output voltage from X-Ray machine with the range of 50-70 KvP. It used Arduino Gelatino microcontroller programmed with Arduino IDE software as data processor of detector result. The detector was designed based on the physics principle using material attenuation coefficient namely aluminum whose good effect in reducing the energy level of X-ray photons. Thus, the photodiode sensor only read the effective energy of the X-ray energy. Based on the radiation intensity ratio through the aluminum filter with 0.25 mm and 0.5 mm thickness, it is better to measure X-ray tube voltage non-invasively The KvP Meter was tested by setting duration of X-ray exposure that was 0.3 second, tube current was 10 mA, and KvP Meter distance from collimator was 90 cm. A prototype unit was made, and the performance was tested in terms of error and precision. After testing and analyzing the data, the error result was less than 5.1% with the highest measurement precision of ± 1.50.  It is generally concluded that this equipment can be used to measure the voltage of the X-ray tube.

Abstract

The objective of evaluating User Experience (UX) in this era of technology is to enhance the user satisfaction. Earlier applications were built with the aim of reducing the work of users. But with the evolution of the technology, the emergence of new gadgets and new trends in the information technology, the applications had to be more user-centric. The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the user experience of web applications based on different UX parameters using different techniques and given a rating. Each of these ratings are combined to determine the overall rating of UX for the web application. Also, the secondary objective of this research is to provide suggestions or recommendations based on the ratings to improve the UX of the web applications. An experimental study was conducted and the results show a significant improvement. Areas of further enhancements have also been identified and presented.

Abstract

A new chaotic system with line equilibrium is introduced in this paper. This system consists of five terms with two transcendental nonlinearities and two quadratic nonlinearities. Various tools of dynamical system such as phase portraits, Lyapunov exponents, Kaplan-Yorke dimension, bifurcation diagram and Poincarè map are used. It is interesting that this system has a line of fixed points and can display chaotic attractors. Next, this paper discusses control using passive control method. One example is given to insure the theoretical analysis. Finally, for the  new chaotic system, An electronic circuit for realizing the chaotic system has been implemented. The numerical simulation by using MATLAB 2010 and implementation of circuit simulations by using MultiSIM 10.0 have been performed in this study.

Abstract

This paper talks about the phenomenon of recurrence and using this concept it proposes a novel and a very simple and user friendly method to diagnose the neurological disorders by using the EEG signals.The mathematical concept of recurrence forms the basis for the detection of neurological disorders,and the tool used is MATLAB.  Using MATLAB, an algorithm is designed which uses EEG signals as the input and uses the synchronizing patterns of EEG signals to determine various neurological disorders through graphs and recurrence plots

Abstract

This paper presents and implements a Super-Twisting high order sliding mode control for a BLDC motor. Conventional sliding mode controller has a very fast response, it allows the convergence in finite time and characterized by its robustness against disturbances and uncertainties; However, the chattering phenomenon due to the discontinuous nature of its control organ degrades its performance, especially in case of mechanical membranes control. To overcome this disadvantage, the most commun solutions are based on the adaptation of its discontinuous nature at static regime, it reduces effectively the chattering phenomenon, but on the other hand impacts performance in terms of robustness. The Super-Twisting is an algorithm of high order sliding mode applicable on systems with relative degree 1, it produces a continuous control which cancels the chattering phenomenon and preserve all traditional sliding mode command performances. To validate the effectiveness and the robustness of the Super-Twisting controller for controlling brushless motors, experimental results using a 3KW BLDC motor are provided and compared with those of a conventional sliding mode controller.

Abstract

In digital television systems such as DVB-T, service provider has difficulties to observe the quality of picture reception in the viewers’ television. This is due to the unavailability of quality feedback sent from viewers’ devices to the service provider. Therefore, this research proposes link adaptation method in DVB-T system based on image quality measurement at recipient side, so that service provider may adjust the transmission power in real-time to improve the image quality. Quality metric used in this research is human perception- based no-reference image quality metric, which does not need the presence of the reference frame. The quality assessment is focused on the severeness of blocking artifact, which is the dominant artifacts in MPEG video. The numerical results have shown that power adaptation could maintain good picture quality as well as transmission power efficiency at the same time on the digital television transmission system. The proposed scheme is also suitable for other DVB system as well as various digital television system standards.

Abstract

Hashing is popular technique of image authentication to identify malicious attacks and it also allows appearance changes in an image in controlled way. Image hashing is quality summarization of images. Quality summarization implies extraction and representation of powerful low level features in compact form. Proposed adaptive CSLBP compressed hashing method uses modified CSLBP (Center Symmetric Local Binary Pattern) as a basic method for texture extraction and color weight factor derived from L*a*b* color space. Image hash is generated from image texture. Color weight factors are used adaptively in average and difference forms to enhance discrimination capability of hash. For smooth region, averaging of colours used while for non-smooth region, color differencing is used. Adaptive CSLBP histogram is a compressed form of CSLBP and its quality is improved by adaptive color weight factor. Experimental results are demonstrated with two benchmarks, normalized hamming distance and ROC characteristics. Proposed method successfully differentiate between content change and content persevering modifications for color images.

Abstract

Fine-tuning of a model is a method that is most often required to cater to the users’ explicit requirements. But the question remains whether the model is accurate enough to be used for a certain application. This paper strives to present the metrics used for performance evaluation of a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model. The evaluation is based on the training process which provides us with intermediate models after every 1000 iterations. While 1000 iterations are not substantial enough over the range of 490k iterations, the groups are sized with 100k iterations each. Now, the intention was to compare the recorded metrics to evaluate the model in terms of accuracy. The training model used the set of specific categories chosen from the Microsoft Common Objects in Context (MS COCO) dataset while allowing the users to use their externally available images to test the model’s accuracy. Our trained model ensured that all the objects are detected that are present in the image to depict the effect of precision.

Abstract

This paper deals with a new AC – AC single stage full bridge series resonant converter for induction heating application. The proposed system is simulated with high power density modulation technique to produce a output power of 1.8Kw.The main feature of the proposed converter is to reduce the total harmonic distortion produced in the output current for the switching frequency of 29Khz.Asymmetrical pulse density modulation technique is proposed to achieve maximum output power with less harmonic content. It is found that the THD of the proposed high power density modulated converter is 13.43%. Here, the validity of the proposed converter for domestic induction heating application is compared and summarized.

Abstract

The manuscript discusses about abnormalities in a crowded scenario. To prevent the mishap at a public place, there is no much mechanism which could prevent or alert the concerned authority about suspects in a crowd. Usually in a crowded scene, there are chances of some mishap like a terrorist attack or a crime. Our target is finding techniques to identify such activities and to possibly prevent them. If the crowd members exhibit abnormal behavior, we could identify and say that this particular person is a suspect and then the concerned authority would look into the matter. There are various methods to identify the abnormal behavior. The proposed approach is based on optical flow model. It has an ability to detect the sudden changes in motion of an individual among the crowd. First, the main region of motion is extracted by the help of motion heat map. Harris corner detector is used for extracting point of interest of extracted motion area. Based on the point of interest an optical flow is estimated here. After analyzing this optical flow model, a threshold value is fixed. Basically optical flow is an energy level of individual frame. The threshold value is forwarded to SVM classifier, which produces a better result with 99.71% accuracy. This approach is very useful in real time video surveillance system where a machine can monitor unwanted crowd activity.
