Abstract

This paper presents the performance analysis of the direction of arrival estimation algorithms such as Estimation of Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariance Technique (ESPRIT), Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC), Weighted Subspace Fitting (WSF), The Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR or capon) and beamspace. These algorithms are necessary to overcome the problem of detecting the arrival angles of the received signals in wireless communication. Therefore, these algorithms are evaluated and compared according to several constraints required in smart antenna system parameters, as the number of array elements, number of samples (snapshots), and number of the received signals. The main purpose of this study is to obtain the best estimation of the direction of arrival, which can be perfectly implemented in a smart antenna system. In this context, the ROOT-Weighted Subspace Fitting algorithm provides the most accurate detection of arrival angles in each of the proposed scenarios.

Abstract

In recent trends, growth of location based services have been increased due to the large usage of cell phones, personal digital assistant and other devices like location based navigation, emergency services, location based social networking, location based advertisement, etc. Users are provided with important information based on location to the service provider that results the compromise with their personal information like user’s identity, location privacy etc. To achieve location privacy of the user, cryptographic technique is one of the best technique which gives assurance. Location based services are classified as Trusted Third Party (TTP) & without Trusted Third Party that uses cryptographic approaches. TTP free is one of the prominent approach in which it uses peer-to-peer model. In this approach, important users mutually connect with each other to form a network to work without the use of any person/server. There are many existing approaches in literature for privacy preserving location based services, but their solutions are at high cost or not supporting scalability.  In this paper, our aim is to propose an approach along with algorithms that will help the location based services (LBS) users to provide location privacy with minimum cost and improve scalability.

Abstract

Spam mail has become a rising phenomenon in a world that has recently witnessed high growth in the volume of emails. This indicates the need to develop an effective spam filter. At the present time, Classification algorithms for text mining are used for the classification of emails. This paper provides a description and evaluation of the effectiveness of three popular classifiers using optimization feature selections, such as Genetic algorithm, Harmony search, practical swarm optimization, and simulating annealing. The research focuses on a comparison of the effect of classifiers using K-nearest Neighbor (KNN), Naïve Bayesian (NB), and Support Vector Machine (SVM) on spam classifiers (without using feature selection) also enhances the reliability of feature selection by proposing optimization feature selection to reduce number of features that are not important.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to develop an approach to analyse and evaluate continuity in Service Supply Chain (SSC), through a case study. This approach is based on the data-driven quality strategy "Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control" (DMAIC) which is used to drive Six Sigma projects, and on the characteristics of Smart Supply Chain. It combines Business process management (BPM), Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR), and the Root cause analysis tree diagram. The chosen case study is the electricity SCC, especially the business process 'management of electricity for residential buildings' of the Moroccan electricity SSC. The paper shows that the suggested approach identifies the discontinuity causes for the studied SSC, improves the business process behavior and manages its control by providing a dashboard that encompasses KPIs for periodically controlling of the SSC "to-be" state.

Abstract

Recently, a reagent cabinet is used in a laboratory or a laboratory is required to have a system capable of identifying a dangerous situation through sensor data as various sensors are utilized. The existing system identifies the dangerous situation through various sensor data, but there is a problem that the server performs all the operations and the operation of the device is performed manually. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a system that can identify the dangerous situation and automatically operate the equipment through the internal environment data of the reagent cabinet. Identification of the hazardous situation is done through the master node used in the reagent cabinet, not the server. The server can continuously update the sensor data through the master node and monitor the real-time status of the reagent cabinet through the application. In this way, it is expected that the risk situation will be promptly addressed by identifying the dangerous situation in the reagent cabinet and operating the device.

Abstract

Gold is the yellow precious metal that has been used in many applications likes medicine, electronics, jewelry, investment and others. Thus, gold is one of the commodities which has high demand in the global market. In other to secure the purity of gold and to protect the retailer and consumer from fraud, the detection of gold is very important in the industry. There are many techniques have been used to detect the purity of gold material and those techniques must consider a several factors such as non-destructive, inexpensive, precise, simple and widely accepted by the jewelry industries. Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) is the most mature non-destructive technique among various tomography. The advantages of ECT are non-radioactive, non-intrusive, high imaging speed and low cost. This paper introduces the ECT using the square sensor. The aim of his paper this to present a new method of verifying the conductive materials using a parallel plate sensor which adopted from the ECT system.

Abstract

Multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) is a multipath diversity exploring approach which is emerged with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) to produce MIMO-OFDM that is widely used in wireless communications. This paper presents a discrete Hart-ley transform (DHT) precoded MIMO-OFDM system over multipath frequency-selective fading channel with large-size quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM, 64-QAM and 256-QAM). A mathematical models for the BER and channel capacity over mutlipath fading channels are also derived in this paper. Average Bit-error-rate (BER) and channel capacity of the presented system is considered and compared with that of the traditional MIMO-OFDM. Simulation results shows that the transmission performance and channel capacity of the proposed schemes is better than that of the traditional MIMO-OFDM without a pre-coder.

Abstract

The Internet of Things is touching all spheres of life, be it in connecting cities together, making agricultural farms and health care smarter, predictable and more secure, and in industries it is set out to bring about changes that are similar to those of the industrial revolution that took place in the 19th and 20th century. It is estimated by pundits that in next 5 to 10 years, the Internet of Things will become a 50 billion dollar industry by itself, encompassing everything that it touches and goes upon. In order to get healthcare enabled into the IoT ecosystem, the sensors and the actuators related to it must be able to support the protocols that is required for the acquisition, processing and storing of data from the sensors to the IoT based infrastructure. Here, for a proposed model for a health care monitor using Internet of Things, the sensors characteristics, working principal, the protocol associated with it, its internal mechanism, and the results obtained when interfaced using a Raspberry Pi arediscussed, laying the framework for the future of the sensors that need to be adapted to stay relevant in the future, when IoT transitions from concept to reality.

Abstract

Data Hiding has a huge range of applications in the medical field for transmission. It is helpful in securing the documentation of the patients from the violator with good storage space. The medical images of different modalities like CT, MRI, and PET with the digitized clinical information can be sent to the doctors across the world for the treatment. Due to the bandwidth and storage constraints, medical images along with the clinical information must be compressed before transmission and storage. This paper gives a technique for hiding the digitized clinical information along with the DICOM images in Complex Contourlet Transform (CCT) Domain. It also analyses the compression method by using an Entropy Encoder method. Hence, this work suggests that the data hiding method based on Complex Contourlet Transform (CCT) is efficient and also it has a high hiding capacity. The improved value of Compression Ratio (CR), Space Saving (SS), Mean Square Error (MSE) and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) shows that the new method satisfies the properties of the data hiding method.

Abstract

Pseudo-relevance feedback is a query expansion approach whose terms are selected from a set of top ranked retrieved documents in response to the original query.  However, the selected terms will not be related to the query if the top retrieved documents are irrelevant. As a result, retrieval performance for the expanded query is not improved, compared to the original one. This paper suggests the use of documents selected using Pseudo Relevance Feedback for generating association rules. Thus, an algorithm based on dominance relations is applied. Then the strong correlations between query and other terms are detected, and an oriented and weighted graph called Pseudo-Graph Feedback is constructed. This graph serves for expanding original queries by terms related semantically and selected by the user. The results of the experiments on Text Retrieval Conference (TREC) collection are very significant, and best results are achieved by the proposed approach compared to both the baseline system and an existing technique.
