Abstract

People of Ponorogo is believed to have mystical or supernatural abilities. Public perception understands the character of Ponorogonese as Warok who tends to speak assertive, open, and rude. Warok is the one of antagonist theatrical drama player of Reyog. Negative stigma arises based on the lack of public understanding of the history of Paragan culture. Panaragan's identity actually has noble cultural values. This paper aims to identify Panaragan ethnic identity, in greater depth based on its distribution of settlement, art performance, patterns of interaction, language, and the practice of visualizing identity and characteristics in public spaces. The descriptive qualitative method was applied through data collection from the results of literature studies and observations. Data analysis through triangulation techniques was sourced from literature review of journals, books, and documentation obtained in the field. Panaragan ethnic local identity is influenced by, 1) Reyog performance art that popularized the figure of Warok as a powerful and influential person. In Javanese society, the term Warok is identical to Wewarah, which is understood as someone who is able to teach others about a good life. In the understanding of Islam, wara’ is a social status for those who take the Sufi path. Unfortunately, during the era of colonialism, the figure of Warok was constructed into an image that was used to frightening people and maintain the ruler authority; 2) The Panaragan dialect 'Warokan' is spoken in a straightforward and assertive manner with high intonation which is the influence of art performance Reyog's diction and language style. On the other hand, cultural construction through visual arts symbols and Panaragan cultural performances represent the character of the Ponorogo indigenous people who are persistent, independent, brave, and adventurous.

Abstract

This study focus on the process of understanding how Muhammadiyah is interpreted as Islamic organisation and Pancasila is as the ideology. The understanding toward Pancasila as the ideology is important because the Khalifah ideology appear to replace Pancasila. Furthermore, the drawback of globalisation which bring neoliberalism issue into society weaken the principles of Pancasila. In addition, destructive cult appears to claim that their movement/ organisation apply the most the principles of pancasila.  This study aims to investigate the strategies used by Muhammadiyah in implementing the five principle of pancasila ad the ideology. This study used hermeneutika Paul Ricoeur methodology which emphasis on the interpretation on distantiation between text and reader. The findings mentioned that the understanding about Pancasila is rely in al-Qur'an's Saba verse 15 "baldatun thayyibatun wa rabbun ghafur", (a good country is in Allah's forgiveness). In discourse analysis, this verse is interpreted by Muhammadiyah that Indonesia is a country which is used pancasila as the ideology. They believe that Indonesia is darul ahdi wa syahadah then this belief become cons discourse to against some movements to establish Khalifah Ideology.

Abstract

This paper believes the tendency to use religious issues as a political instrument in the momentum of elections in Indonesia. Some research said the issue of religion is a supporting factor for polarization in society and influences the subjectivity of voters in determining the representation of their aspirations. The author is interested in the consistency of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) political support for the Aksi Bela Islam (Islamic Defending Action) which emerged as a movement that raised the issue of blasphemy and the criminalization of Ulama. This study aims to analyzing the potential of PKS using religious issues as political instruments to obtain and strengthen support in elections. This research uses a library method in which there are several literatures and scientific sources that are relevant to the focus of the case. Political relations formed through religious issues between PKS and Aksi Bela Islam from 2016 to the 2019 Election were so dynamic. The results of the study interpret the PKS's political attitude against Aksi Bela Islam as (1) political support that reflects the practice of Indonesian democracy, (2) PKS calls on Muslims to actively participate in every agenda of the Aksi Bela Islam, by obeying and following the fatwas of Islamic leaders who delivered in the forum, and (3) PKS calls for not choosing leaders who have criminalized Ulama. Thus, studies show that PKS has an electoral interest behind political relations with Aksi Bela Islam by utilizing religious issues.

Abstract

This paper departs from the discourse of the paradigm of social development in third world countries. The first discourse reviews the critics of the broad state in social development. It supports the non-state actors to take a part in development through corporate social responsibility (CSR). The second discourse departs from economic development which weakens the capability of the individual in achieving development itself. The concept of the capability approach in human development emerged as a solution to create inclusive welfare. This paper itself raises these two things in one discussion related to the role of CSR in relation to the development of human capabilities. Taking an analysis of the Program Desa Mandiri Energi by PJB UP Paiton, the study examines the role of CSR activities in supporting community capabilities. This paper argues that the existence of CSR provides a strong contribution to strengthening the capabilities of the community that has developed from the past. However, in the subsequent findings, there are several aspects of CSR programs that still several actions to be developed and improved human capabilities.
