Abstract

Obesity is an abnormal condition characterized by an excessive increase in body fat, generally deposited in the subcutaneous tissue, around the organs, and sometimes infiltrated into the organs. Obesity occurs due to changes in lifestyle, for example, drinking a lot, smoking habits, consuming lots of fatty foods, consuming fast food (fast food) a lot, and low physical activity. The main factors causing central obesity are increased food intake and decreased energy expenditure. Physical activity is also associated with central obesity. It is known that regular physical exercise can lead to a significant decrease in body fat tissue. This is because physical exercise can increase fat-free tissue mass and reduce fat tissue mass.

Abstract

Post-laparotomy complications include bleeding, severe pain, and even death. This can be reduced by effective perioperative management. One of them is by applying the Surgical Apgar Score (SAS) which contains hemodynamic information and intraoperative blood loss. The aim of the study was to determine perioperative SAS in laparotomy patients. Using a cross-sectional descriptive research design, this study took 21 respondents with quota sampling technique. The research instrument uses the SAS assessment sheet with data analysis using a frequency distribution. The results showed that most of the sample characteristics were late elderly (> 55 years) (28.6%) with female gender (66.7%). More than half of the sample (76.2%) had an SAS score in the moderate risk category. While the highest rates of morbidity and mortality (7/21) at 12.2% and 1.9%. The most SAS scores in laparotomy patients were in the moderate risk category.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the association between fatigue and predictors of fatigue has nearly never been studied, particularly in adult cancer patients. This research is part of a larger research project to predict the prevalence of fatigue in adult people with cancer. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between fatigue, respondent characteristics, and the performance scale among adult cancer patients in one-day care units. This study is a quantitative correlation investigation using a cross-sectional design with correlation and t-tests. Sixty-seven participants were selected from the medical records of adult cancer patients who met the criteria. Research findings indicated that there was no correlation between age, gender, type of cancer, ECOG (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group) Performance Scale, and body mass index on the incidence of fatigue in adult cancer patients (Pvalue = 0.684; 0.977; 0.38; 0.224; 0.284), although there was a significant correlation between a previous fatigue and the occurrence of recent fatigue (Pvalue = 0.000). This study may be utilized as a basis for future studies on adult cancer patients experiencing fatigue in hospital settings.

Abstract

Family is one of the support systems to deliver health care during Tb Treatment. Families are involved as a Pengawas Minum Obat (PMO), accompany patients during medical check up, financial support, fulfill nutritional needs, and prevent bacterial transmission among family members. Preventing behaviour of Tuberculosis including maintaining personal hygiene, maintaining the environment, and Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) Immunization. The involvement of the family is proposing to decrease the decline of Tb incidence. However, there are eight (8) patients who do not comply with Tb treatment in 2018, increasing from the previous year. The aim of this research is to find a relationship among family knowledge about Tb with preventing Tb in West Sumba. The sampling method is using purposive sampling technique to 100 people in pre-research term, then the obtained data will be analyzed using Completely Randomized Design (CRD), and the conclusion will be drawn with 5% of meaningfulness interval. Validity and reliability of the questionnaire will be tested through SPSS Statistic version 25 software. This study that analyzed by Completely Randomized Design (CRD), shows that respondents had known the information related to pulmonary tuberculosis seen from the Fcount is greater than the Ftable with significant levels of 5% and 1%, while on the prevention of transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis didn’t show its relationship as seen from the Fcount is smaller than the Ftable with significant levels of 5% and 1%. Hence, from this study it can be concluded that even respondents had known the information related to pulmonary tuberculosis, but families in West Sumba had not done prevention towards pulmonary tuberculosis transmission.

Abstract

End-stage kidney disease (ESRD) has an impact on the sufferer's physical, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being. These problems can reduce the quality of life of ESRD patients undergoing hemodialysis. This requires the patient to be fully involved, both in management and therapeutic decision-making, symptom management, and self-care. This literature review aims to describe various programs to improve the self-management skills of ESRD patients undergoing hemodialysis. The articles used in this literature review are sourced from the CINAHL, MEDLINE, and Google Scholar electronic databases with the keywords self-management, self-care, adherence, ESRD, and hemodialysis with inclusion criteria: published in 2015-2020, full text, using English or Indonesian, and experimental studies conducted on hemodialysis patients. Eight articles were obtained discussing programs that can be used to improve self-management of ESRD patients undergoing hemodialysis, including education and counseling programs, self-management programs, self-efficacy training, self-monitoring programs, and social support. The differences between each program include the time and technical implementation, while the similarities are that each program cannot be separated from education for providing health information to patients. Providing structured education and involving social support can be used as a program to improve self-management in ESRD patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Abstract

Rest and sleep are basic requirements needed by all people. Everyone needs a good quality of rest and sleep to be able to repair or restore the body and maintain the health, including critically ill patients in Intensive Care Unit. Rest and sleep are influenced by several factors such as the disease process, environmental, psychological stress, and medications. However environmental factors are factors that can be modified directly in order to meet this requirement. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between environmental factors and the quality of sleep in critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit of Semarang. This type of research was quantitative descriptive with correlational design. The data collection method was cross sectional. The samples in this study included 60 people. The results showed that the mean of environmental factors and sleep quality were 88,28 ± 29,76 dan 13,50 ± 4,9 respectively. There was a relationship between environmental factors and the quality of sleep critically ill patients in the ICU with p-value 0.009 (p-value <0.05). The better the environmental factors that are in the ICU the better the sleep quality of critical patients. It is suggested that the hospitals could manage the most disturbing noise caused by other patients to improve the quality of these critically ill patients.

Abstract

Patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) are highly vulnerable with the multiple comorbidities that make them susceptible to adverse outcomes with COVID-19. Over 2 million people worldwide receive maintenance hemodialysis (HD) at outpatient centers. In Indonesia, people have to come to dialysis centre at hospital for maintenance dialysis although in pandemic. Governments have been trying to fight the outbreak, by enacting various restrictions to maintain social distancing and effectively preventing the spread of infection among HD centre, healthcare personnel, and patients is essential to ensure the continued delivery of dialysis to ESRD patients but this condition affect in mental health people with hemodialysis such as fear of covid-19. The present study aimed to understand the relationship between fear of covid-19 and adherence people with hemodialysis to maintaining hemodialysis at hospital. The study group of the research consisted of 60 patients with hemodialysis were selected by the purposive sampling method. The research method is the correlational survey model. Data was obtained using the Demographic Information Form, fear of covid-19 scale and The End Stage Renal Disease Adherence Questionnaire (ESRD-AQ). Group comparison analysis revealed that women experienced higher levels of fear of the coronavirus. While those with postgraduate education reported significantly lower levels of fear of the coronavirus than those with other education levels. Fear of the coronavirus did not differ according to the age range, income level, and marital status of the participants. According to the results of the correlation analysis, a positive correlation between the fear of coronavirus and adherence people with hemodialysis to take medication at hospital was found.
