Abstract

Laser induced thin film production (LITFP) technique was employed for making Lead (Pb) thin film by nitrogen laser ablation in miniature scale. The energy of nitrogen laser operated at 12.5 kv, 90 torr was 3.5 mJ with 5 ns pulse duration, thus producing peak power at around 0.7 MW. Pb plasma of 1 cm diameter was generated in each laser bombardment, producing thin film above the glass substrate. The thin film characteristics were measured by the thickness and surface morphology using scanning electron microscope (SEM). It was proved that there was a linear relationship between the number of laser shots and film thickness.

Abstract

Spiders are dominant predators and have an important role not only in ricefield ecosystem, but also in agroecosystem  in general. The complexity of landscape structure is expected to have an important role to the availability of spiders in ecosystem.  Aim of this research were mapped agricultural landscape in Cianjur Watershed and to study the influence of landscape structure complexity to the diversity of spider in the landscape. Research was conducted at agricultural landscape in Cianjur Watershed, i.e: upper part (Nyalindung Village), middle part (Gasol Village) and  lower part (Selajambe Village), from January to September 2003. Agricultural landscape in Cianjur Watershed were mapped by using Global Positioning System (GPS), Arc View GIS 3.2. computer program, and Digital Indonesian Land Use and Topographical Map from Bakosurtanal. These instruments were used to make a new map which consist of information of land use system. Spider in agricultural landscape were sampled by using two trapping techniques, i.e: pitfall trap and sweep net. The results showed that landscape structure at upper part of Cianjur Watershed is more complex than that of at midlle and lower part. The diversity of spider at upper part of Cianjur Watershed was also higher than that of middle and lower part. Thus, the complexity of landscape structure significantly influence to the diversity of spiders in the agricultural landscape.

Abstract

Fuzzy time series is a dynamic process with linguistic values as its observations. Modelling fuzzy time series data developed by some researchers used discrete membership functions and table lookup method from training data. This paper presents a new method to modelling fuzzy time series data combining table lookup and singular value decomposition methods using continuous membership functions. Table lookup method is used to construct fuzzy relations from training data. Singular value decomposition of firing strength matrix and QR factorization are used to reduce fuzzy relations. Furthermore, this method is applied to forecast inflation rate in Indonesia based on six-factors one-order fuzzy time series. This result is compared with neural network method and the proposed method gets a higher forecasting accuracy rate than the neural network method.

Abstract

In vitro technique was dedicated to alleviate the technical problems in conventional propagation of gladiolus for healthy planting material production in marketable quantities.  Two experimental series were conducted in non factorial and factorial designs respectively.  Cormels of three gladiolus cultivars namely Kaifa, Clara and Nabila were inoculated into free hormone media for plantlet establishment and dormancy breaking observations among genotypes.  The established plantlets were then deflasked into solidified MS + 0.5 mg/l NAA with various BA concentrations (1, 2, 3 and 4 mg/l).  A randomized complete experiment with seven replications was designed to accomplish these subsequent experiment to determine optimal BA for shoot-leaves initiations and complete plantlet formations. The results showed that in free hormone media, the dormancy breakings of cormel were varied among cultivars tested.  The variation among cultivars was also detected on the level of BA for optimum shoot and leaf formations.  2 mg/l BA gave highest shoot and leaves formations for cv. Nabila while higher concentrations needed by other two cultivars. Thus, BA concentrations ranged from 2–3 mg/l were recommended shoot inductions on in vitro propagation of gladiolus.

Abstract

The Modified Newton-Kantorovich method (MNK) was formulated due to the limitation of The Newton-Kantorovich method (NK) in reconstructing the imitation of bone muscle and fat object. It was sensitive to contrast and cell size. In this research MNK and NK methods were applied to reconstruct the dielectric properties distribution of homogeneous and inhomogeneous objects from simulated scattered field dataset to know how the results of image reconstruction using both methods were. The results revealed that the MNK method was more flexible than the NK one.

Abstract

Integer programming is a particular form or variety of the linear program, in which one or more of its values in the solution vector have integer. Integer programming can be applied on the network analysis and telecommunication. In this paper, integer programming is used to solve the problems of optimizing the route between cell i and HUB (Home Unit Base) j so that the cost for making a network model, especially cellular network, can be minimized.

Abstract

Let R be any ring with identity 1, σ be an endomorphism and δ be a left σ-derivation. In this paper, we will investigate the centre of some skew polynomial rings in the case when R is a commutative domain and σ is anautomorphism. More precisely, let D be a commutative domain with its quotient field K and σ be an  automorphism of  D. Then, we will show that intersection of  the centre of  skew  polynomial  rings D[x;σ] and D[x;σ,δ].

Abstract

Strenous physical activity may give not only a possitive impact but also the negative one. One of the factors that produce negative impact is the increasing formation of oxydant that may cause tissues’ damages. In this kind of circumstances, the oxydant could make damages to the various components in the body, it calls oxydative stress. The effect of the oxydant to the unsaturated fatty acid cause a chain reaction that will break the fatty acid to become different kinds of substances, such as malondialdehid (MDA). The MDA produced then released into the circulatory system, made the serum level of MDA increasing. The influence of propolis as antioxidant may be prevent this problem. This study is a laboratory experiment using posttest-only control group design.  The samples of the experiment are 3-month male white rat with average weight between 180-220 grams. These samples are divided to three groups: (1) control group (2) exposure group that have to do strenous activity (30 days swimming stress) and (3) exposure group that have to do strenous activity (30 days swimming stress) and given propolis, each group consists of eight rats. The result of the study showed a higher average serum MDA level in exposure group (89.63 nmol/mL) than the control group (42.38 nmol/ml) significantly (p = 0.000). The influence of propolis could prevent oxidative stress wich was indicated by lower average serum MDA level (32.35 nmol/ml) significanly (p = 0.000).

Abstract

The Schrodinger equation with position-dependent mass (PDM) becomes one of interesting subjects in the study of quantum systems, because of its wide applications in many physical problems. Meanwhile, harmonic oscillator becomes important model in most physical problems. In this paper, analytical solutions of the PDM Schrodinger equation, i.e. energy eigenvalues En and eigenfunctions , of a one dimensional harmonic oscillator system using transformation method has been studied. The results showed that there was no difference between the energy eigenvalues, En of the harmonic oscillator systems with and without PDM, whereas it is not for the eigenfunctions,  of these two harmonic oscillator systems. This difference was due to the presence of dimensionless mass function  and the changes of x becomes  variable for the eigenfunctions of the harmonic oscillator system with PDM.  Moreover, the differences in the eigenfunctions will affect the dynamical properties of the quantum systems. It can be concluded that the harmonic oscillator system with PDM is the generalization of the harmonic oscillator system with constant mass.
