Abstract

The major objective of the paper is to provide a theoretical description of convergence in neoclassicalmodels with various initial ratios of human to physical capital. To avoid immediate convergence, adjustment costs (higher for human capital than for physical capital investment) are introduced. Themodel is calibrated consistently with empirically-observed slow long-run convergence. Economies withhigh initial ratios of human to physical capital are, however, predicted to grow quickly in the shortrun. Moreover, substantial current-account deficits may occur due to high marginal products ofphysical capital and resulting high levels of domestic physical capital investment. This analysisseems relevant to Malaysian economies, which exhibit high ratios of human to physical capital,current-account deficits, and relatively high average growth rates.

Abstract

In recent years, much work has been constructed in the area of productivity and growth in order toidentify the link between factor inputs and output based on production function. However, in the fieldof tertiary education, there are less research to classify and discover a model to estimate theproduction of graduates in accord with the factor inputs. This paper discusses the usage ofproduction function in which the properties are specified in order to fit the tertiary education sectorwith reference to the data of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). It is then estimated with the Cobb-Douglas Production function (C-D). Aspects such as the inferences caused by multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation are also analyzed. In this approach, OLS and GLS type ofregression analysis have been carried out in order to analyze the productivity and growth of USM inproducing graduates. A suitable model produced by using two independent variables namelyemolument (from federal government operating expenditure) and capital (remaining federalgovernment grant plus federal government developing grant), is in fact presentable in the form of C-Dproduction function. The outcome of this study indicated a value greater than 1 for β1 and less than0 for β2 which implies that USM is experiencing an increasing marginal product of emolument, E andnegative marginal product of capital plus development grant, C.

Abstract

The main aim of this paper is to investigate whether there is evidence to suggest that the underlyingtrend of the pattern of Central England Temperature (CET) series varies over time. In addition, it isalso of particular interest in describing the structure of the data. For this paper, the data is a seriesof 10-year averages of the CET series from 1663 to 2002. There is no doubt that a linear regressiontrend in time with an MA (2) noise model describes the series adequately. The model suggests thatthere is evidence of an overall warming trend, and generally, the temperature is estimated to riseapproximately 0.0252 C over a decade. Moreover, the estimated 95% confidence interval for theslope is (0.01148, 0.03892).

Abstract

Abstract

Korelasi spatial laju alir penurunan mass flow interpolasi kriging sekuensialmengikuti pola sperikal. Interpolasi kriging sekuensial menghasilkan kontur merepresentasikandistribusi laju penurunan disekitar sumur produksi.

Abstract

The Box-Cox family of transformation is a well-known approach to make data behave accordingly toassumption of linear regression and ANOVA. The regression coefficients, as well as theparameter defining the transformation are generally estimated by maximum likelihood, assuminghomoscedastic normal error. In application of ANOVA for hypothesis testing in biostatistics scienceexperiments, the assumption of homogeneity of errors often is violating because of scale effects andthe nature of the measurements. We demonstrate a method of transformation data so that theassumptions of ANOVA are met (or violated to a lesser degree) and apply it in analysis of data frombiostatistics experiments. We will illustrate the use of the Box-Cox method by using MINITABsoftware.
