Abstract

Citrus sinensis L. skin is a high-value waste because it contains vitamin C. The Citrus sinensis L. skin of siam varieties is formulated into liquid soap using sodium lauryl sulfate which acts as a surfactant and as a good foaming agent. The aims of this study are to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of sodium lauryl sulfate surfactant on the quality control test for liquid bath soap. The type of research used is experimental research. This research uses the extract of conjoined sweet orange peel obtained by maceration for 6 days using 70% ethanol solvent and maceration repeated for 4 days so that the extract obtained is more. Liquid soap is made in 3 formulas with varying concentrations of sodium lauryl sulfate. Formula I uses a concentration of 8%, formula II 17% and formula III 26%. The quality control test of the preparation includes organoleptic, pH, specific gravity, viscosity and high foam. The data obtained were statistically analyzed with one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that variations in the concentration of sodium lauryl sulfate could affect the quality control test for liquid bath soap. The three formulas of liquid bathing soap extract of sweet orange peel that meet the standard are 2nd formulas, namely black, distinctive odor of orange peel, thick consistency with pH 6, having specific gravity between 1.039-1.095 g / ml, having a viscosity of between 1.10- 7.90 cps and foam height 0.80-2.00 cm.

Abstract

Teak leaves (Tectona grandis L., f) include familia verbenaceae that have strong antioxidant activity. The color of the teak leaves is caused by the flavonoid that is antosianidin. Anthocyanidin is a pigment that can be used as a natural dye and can replace synthetic dyes. The purpose of this study was to formulate lipstick preparations using dyes contained in teak leaves and to determine the effect of variation of teak leaf extract concentration. The type of research used is experimental research. This research covers teak leaf extraction using maseration method. Lipstick is made in 3 formulas. Formula I with concentration 5%, formula II 7% concentration and formula III 9% concentration. Lipstick that has been made then tested by physical properties including organoleptc test, homogeneity test, pH test, melting point test, and hardness test. The resulting lipstick is stable, red brick, brownish and light brown. The melting point of lipstick preparation containing teak leaf extracts with concentration of 5%, 7% and 9% were 55,670C; 57,330C and 58,670C, respectively, while the pH of lipstick preparations were respectively 6; 5 and 4. Hardness of lipstick preparations with concentrations of 5%, 7% and 9% were 87 grams, 97 grams and 112 grams, respectively. The conclusion of the research showed that the lipstick formulation of teak leaf extract can be used as a dye and there is influence of variation of teak leaf extract concentration.

Abstract

Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl) was a plant that contains many chemical compounds one of which flavonoids. Flavonoids act as an antibacterial acne-causing Staphylococcus epidermidis. Acne can be overcome by using stocks that have good penetration one of which is a gel formulation. The purpose of experiment was to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of carbopol as a gelling agent and propylene glycol as a humectant to the physical properties of the gel and to know gel that produces the most excellent physical properties. This experiment uses ethanol extract of Mahkota dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl) as the active ingredient and made five formulas with various concentration Carbopol: propylene glycol is formula I (0.5%: 15%), formula II (0.875%: 13.75%), the formula III (1.25 %: 12.5%), the formula IV (1.625%: 11.25%) and formula V (2%: 10%). Fifth tested formula physical properties and analyzed by ANOVA with confidence level of 95%. The results showed carbopol increase the viscosity and adhesion while propylene glycol improve dispersive power. Formula II and III produces the most excellent physical properties, with a pH test between 4.5 to 6.5, viscosity test 150-200 dPas, 5-7 cm dispersive power test, adhesion > 1 sec and power tests there are no red stain protection. Statistical analysis LSD formula II and III showed no significant differences. Viscosity test and dispersive power indicates with p value of 0.000 (<0.005) and adhesion with p value of 0.007 (<0.05).

Abstract

Tamarind herbal medicine is one of the traditional herbal medicine that is still widely consumed by the community. The manufacturing process is still simple and does not pay attention to the cleanliness element does not rule out the possibility of pollution by bacteria, one of which is by Coliform bacteria, this study aims to determine bacterial contamination in acid turmeric herbs which are sold in Cepogo Market, Boyolali Regency. This research is an observational study. Samples were taken by accidental sampling namely turmeric tamarind herbs purchased from 3 sellers of carrying herbs at Cepogo Market. Each sample was examined the MPN value with 2 test steps, namely the presumption test on the Lactose Borth media and the affirmation test on the Brilliant Green Lactose Broth media. Samples tested positive if there are gas bubbles after incubation. The assertion test results are matched with the MPN value table. The results of the study were obtained MPN value of sample A <3 cells / mL, sample B 4 cells / mL, and sample C 3 cells / mL. From the three samples tested, it can be concluded that the sample contained Coliform bacteria contamination. The value produced from the three samples is below the maximum limit of contamination, which is 20 cells / mL and turmeric acid is suitable for consumption
