Abstract

Drought is often categorized as a natural disaster, which receives less attention compared to flood, earthquake, and landslide due to its slow development characteristic. However, the loss due to drought events especially for farmers is comparable with other hazards. To reduce the impact of droughts, a drought early warning system with a lead time of several months ahead is needed. This paper, therefore, exploits the insight of drought early warning system that can be developed in Indonesia. Results show that drought analysis to calculate the forecasted drought severity can be separated into two algorithms. First algorithm is developed to calculate the distribution parameters or CDF values for each month and in each grid cell using historical data that will be used in second algorithm. The second algorithm is built to calculate the drought severity index using forecast data and distribution parameters or CDF values. Outcomes of the analysis are forecasted drought regions and drought index in each province in Indonesia, showing the top and bottom boundaries of the forecast essembled models. Bias correction must be carried out if the hindcast data are available in order to obtain more accurate drought forecasting results. The insight of drought early warning system that is described in this paper hopefully can guide the researchers to develop the drought early warning system in Indonesia.

Abstract

Tracer technique dikenal secara luas sebagai salah satu metode yang digunakan untuk mencari hubungan antar goa atau sistem sungai bawah tanah di akuifer karst. Di daerah karst Blitar Selatan telah teridentifikasi sejumlah sumber air berupa mata air, sungai bawah tanah, dan beberapa aliran sungai yang keluar menuju ke laut Selatan. Perunutan aliran sungai bawah tanah menggunakan tracer technique telah dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mendapatkan data dan informasi sistem aliran di sekitar Goa Umbul Tuk, sehingga sumber air ini selanjutnya dapat dikembangkan pemanfaatannya sebagai nilai tambah penyediaan air baku di Kabupaten Blitar. Pengujian dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan bahan perunut buatan berupa garam NaCl dan pengukuran dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat ukur daya hantar listrik (EC meter). Hasil pengukuran menunjukan adanya alur sungai bawah tanah yang menghubungkan antara Goa Rowo dengan Goa Umbul Tuk, dengan debit aliran terusan dari Umbul Tuk menuju Laut Selatan sebesar 360 l/s, yang sangat berpotensi untuk dimanfaatkan. Pemanfaatan aliran ini, selain untuk kebutuhan penduduk sekitar, berpotensi juga untuk kebutuhan pariwisata baru di pantai Pangi Laut Selatan, yang mana pada saat ini masih belum dikembangkan.

Abstract

Cihampelas Stream is a tributary of the Citarum that flows across the Regency and Bandung area along 8,5 km. Cihampelas Stream are utilized by the community for domestic activities, tourism, agriculture, and fisheries. This study aims to determine the water quality based on Macrozoobenthos Index of Biotic Integrity and Periphytic Diatom Index of Biotic Integrity and its correlation with the Pollution Index (water classes). This research was conducted at four Cihampelas Stream stations representing the minimal areas of disturbance to the predicted areas of disturbance such as Cilengkrang, Cisurupan, Pasanggrahan, and Mekarmulya. Water sampling, macrozoobenthos, and periphytic diatom was conducted from July to September 2016 four times at two-week intervals. Assessment of water quality using Macrozoobenthos Index of Biotic Integrity shows that Cihampelas Stream is categorized from very good to bad category with index value ranging from 4?18. The water quality of the Cihampelas Stream shows very good to bad category based on the value of the Periphytic Diatom Index of Biotic Integrity which ranges from 3?15. Based on Pollution Index, along Cihampelas Stream is fulfilled class I to exceed class IV of water quality standard. Spearman correlation analysis results shows that Pollution Index (water classes) has negative correlation and stronger to Macrozoobenthos Index of Biotic Integrity compared to Periphytic Diatom Index of Biotic Integrity.Development of bioassessment methode for water quality assessment of Cihampelas Stream in the Citarum River Basin

Abstract

Lokasi studi di Pantai Kedungu yang memiliki gumuk pasir yang lebar dan vegetasi yang rapat. Biasanya tempat ini digunakan untuk pariwisata oleh penduduk setempat. Erosi yang terjadi disebabkan gelombang datang yang membentuk sudut, sehingga menimbulkan arus menyusur pantai (longshore current), dan angkutan sedimen sekitar pantai (litoral drift). Kondisi tersebut sudah sangat mengkhawatirkan, karena sudah mengikis sejumlah lahan milik warga. Sampai saat ini belum ada penanganan dari pemerintah, hanya upaya dari masyarakat setempat dengan membangun tembok laut dan saat ini juga dalam kondisi sudah mulai hancur. Berdasarkan analisa data yang sudah diambil di lapangan dan pemodelan numerik yang dilakukan didapat konsep penanganan permasalahan erosi, yaitu dengan pembuatan struktur pelindung pantai berupa revetmen. Dimana struktur tersebut berfungsi sebagai peredam gelombang datang dan mempertahankan garis pantai. Tujuan dari tulisan ini adalah memberikan gambaran mengenai stabilitas struktur revetmen terhadap erosi pantai. Analisa stabilitas memperhitungkan stabilitas terhadap guling, geser, daya dukung tanah dan penurunan. Dimensi dan desain pelindung pantai revetment aman terhadap guling (SF = 7,669 >2), geser (SF = 4,082>1,5), daya dukung tanah (17,498>3). Hasil analisa stabilitas struktur revetment yang didisain, aman dan dapat diterapkan di lokasi studi. Analisa stabilitas struktur revetment ini diharapkan dapat mengurangi tingkat kerusakan struktur bangunan pantai dan bangunan sekitarnya.

Abstract

One of the solutions for water shortage in Grobogan District is groundwater utilization. Excessive groundwater pumping will decrease groundwater level and trigger a landsubsidence. It is necessary to conduct hydrogeological study to determine the groundwater storage in this area. The purpose of this research were to determine the hydrogeological conditions, aquifer characteristics and potential of groundwater storage in Grobogan district. This research used geoelectrical method to identify rock characteristics. The results showed that the geological formation in Grobogan district consisted of Qa, Tmpk, Tmpl, Tps, Tmw and Qp. Grobogan district had 5 aquifers system, there are: poorly productive aquifers, moderately productive aquifers, locally productive aquifers, extensive productive aquifers and region without exploitable groundwater. The aquifer layer consisted of sand, marl sandy, silty sand and calcareous sand. The unconfined aquifer was located at 1,2 - 58 m from soil surface with average thickness of 13,54 m and the hydraulic conductivity of 3,54 m/day. The confined aquifer depth can be estimated between 29 - 174 m from soil surface with average thickness of 37,4 m and the hydraulic conductivity of 3,87 m/day.The predicted groundwater storage in Grobogan district of unconfined aquifer was 401,33 l/sec and confined aquifer was 1.804,95 l/sec.

Abstract

The infrastructural plans in the Jakarta Bay to reduce risks of flooding in Jakarta city comprise a large sea dike that encloses a retention lake. Part of the planned dike has the shape of the iconic Garuda bird. This shape is based on NCICD Stage-B Master Plan, where the form shape has not been tested on hydraulic perspective. Therefore, testing of wave run-up has been investiagated to find the optimum form of the Garuda Shape. The simulation of wave run-up uses Hawassi Model, where the model is governed by Boussinesq wave equation with considering wave-wave interaction. This paper shows that if in the future an explosion of Anak Krakatau will occur with strength 1/4th of the original Karkatau 1883 explosion, wave crests of 11m and troughs of 6m may collide against the birds head. As an alternative example, a more optimized design of the dike is constructed that reduces the maximal wave effects considerably.
