Abstract

This research is aimed at finding out 1) the effect of debate and discussion on the students’ learning achievement; 2) the effect of high and low critical thinking ability on the students’ learning achievement; and 3) the interaction between the instructional method and the critical thinking ability on the students’ learning achievement. This research is quantitative administering experiment research. The population is the students of Informatics Education Study Program. The sample is the students who are taking ‘Etika Profesi (Profession Ethics)’ subject in the sixth semester. This grade consists of two classes: 6A and 6B. Based on the research and the data analysis, it is concluded that 1) there is effect on the students’ learning achievement -the students’ learning achievement taught through debating is higher than through discussion; 2) there is effect critical thinking ability on the students’ learning achievement -the students with high critical thinking ability gain higher learning achievement; 3) there is a significant interaction between the instructional method and the students’ critical thinking ability.

Abstract

The development of the batik industry has caused batik consumption to increase. Increased clothing and lifestyle needs trigger the need for practical (synthetic) dyes to have an impact on the waste produced. To reduce negative effects, the use of natural dyes needs to be increased. One of the plants that produce natural dyes is mango (Mangifera Indica Linn). Mango plants (Mangifera Indica Linn) including the family Anacardiaceae. The leaves contain a lot of chlorophyll which can produce color pigments for textiles. To find out the potential, an UV-VIS analysis was carried out, namely absorbance and calculation of the amount of chlorophyll contained in the leaves. The method used is the maceration process with technical ethanol solvents, with variations in concentration (70% and 96%) and variations in the immersion time (3 hours, 5 hours, 10 hours, 20 hours). From the results of UV-VIS spectrophotometry analysis showed the maximum absorption or absorbance at a concentration of 96% for 5 hours and the calculation of chlorophyll by the Lichtenthaler & Welburn (1983) method showed that the sweet arum manggu leaves used for research contained more chlorophyll b than chlorophyll a, gives a greenish-yellow pigment with wavelengths of 540 nm and 640 nm.

Abstract

Fault is a displacement of the land with a certain direction and shift that triggers an earthquake. The existence of faults that are not visible on the surface can be identified by measuring the gravity anomaly above the earth's surface around the fault zone. This study was conducted with the aim of testing the effectiveness of radial derivatives for identification of fault zones, i.e the presence and positions of faults. Radial derivative is a horizontal derivative of the earth's gravity anomaly value with the radial direction away from a certain point that is considered as the radial center. Gravity anomaly data used in this study is synthetic data from computer calculations using the principle of forward modeling from a fault model. This model is in the form of a displacement of the rocks making up the soil at a depth of 100 m with a vertical shift direction of 4 m with an area of the fault zone 600 m x 600 m or 360,000 m2. This synthetic gravity data is then performed a radial derivative treatment. The results of this study show that radial derivatives are able to identify the presence and position of the fault.
