Abstract

This study aims to optimize the facility layout at PT. XYZ's Fabrication Workshop using the Activity Relationship Chart (ARC) method. The current facility layout causes operational inefficiencies, primarily due to excessive material handling distances. The research method involved collecting data on inter-area relationships and facility usage frequency, which were then processed using the ARC method and Blocplan software to generate several proposed layout iterations. Two selected layout proposals were further analyzed: the first layout with an adjacent score of 0.71 reduced material handling distance from 768.6 meters to 473.4 meters (a reduction of 38.4%), while the second layout with an adjacent score of 0.68 reduced the distance to 510 meters (a reduction of 33.6%). The study results indicate that the application of the ARC method is effective in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the facility layout in the workshop and enhancing the working environment conditions.

Abstract

The development of a portable ladder for pepper harvesting in Sanatap Village, Sajingan Besar Sub-district aims to improve farmers' ergonomics, safety, and productivity. Using the Quality Function Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) dan Deployment (QFD) methods, this study identified farmers' key needs such as ease of operation, lightweight materials, and ease of storage. The designed ladder is foldable, has wheels, and is made of strong yet lightweight galvanised iron, and has additional safety features. The results of the analysis showed a significant improvement in the farmers' working posture and a reduction in the risk of injury, from moderate risk (REBA score 4-7) to low risk (REBA score 2-3). This shows that the ladder can reduce the risk of injury to pepper farmers. In addition, this portable ladder is expected to not only improve the efficiency and safety of pepper farmers, but also open new business opportunities that contribute positively to the local economy. The implementation of this tool is expected to improve the welfare of farmers in Sajingan Besar Sub-district and provide practical solutions that are profitable and sustainable.

Abstract

Product quality plays an important role in the cable industry to meet standards and improve customer satisfaction, but product nonconformity is still an obstacle that affects production efficiency and costs. This study applies the Six sigma method with the DMAIC approach to the Improve stage to identify the causes of nonconformity and provide recommendations for improvement. The results of the study show four categories of Critical to Quality (CTQ) in cable products, with visual nonconformity as the most dominant at 423.167 km. The U control chart analysis shows that the variation of nonconformity per unit is still outside the statistical control limits, indicating that the production process is not yet stable, with a sigma level of 3.982, indicating significant opportunities for improvement. Based on the Pareto analysis, visual nonconformity is the main priority with the main causes coming from man, machine, method, material, and environmental factors. Recommendations for improvement include increased supervision, periodic machine maintenance, and operator training. Implementation of continuous improvement is expected to reduce nonconformity and improve the quality and efficiency of cable production.

Abstract

The competition among private universities (PTS) in Bandung is intensifying as Generation Z, which dominates the student population, becomes increasingly reliant on social media. This study aims to identify and analyze the key factors influencing PTS selection to provide insights for improving marketing strategies. A quantitative approach was used with purposive sampling, involving 136 respondents, and data was analyzed using the PLS-SEM method. The results indicate that among the four tested variables, career opportunities and word of mouth significantly influence student’s decisions in choosing a PTS, whereas influencers and brand image do not have a significant impact. To enhance career appeal, PTS should maintain a strong balance between theory and practice in study programs. Additionally, improving student satisfaction and involving parents can strengthen the effectiveness of word-of-mouth promotion. These findings offer valuable input for PTS in refining their marketing approaches to attract more students in an increasingly competitive education sector.

Abstract

Quality control is an important aspect in increasing the efficiency and reliability of production processes in business. This research was conducted at industry X in the textile industry. This research examines t-shirt products because they are the best seller products. In the t-shirt production process at this convection, there is a percentage of product defects in jersey t-shirts of 6.22% which exceeds the convection target. This problem can be detrimental to the convection. The aim of this research is to reduce defects in t-shirt products using the six sigma and RCA methods, with this method it can reduce defects to close to zero defects. Based on research results on jersey t-shirts, there are 4 types of defects and the most dominant ones that cause defects on t-shirts are screen printing, 3 types of defects. Result 4 Fishbone Diagram of the main factors that cause defects in t-shirt products, namely, human factors, machines, materials and methods. In conclusion, from the 4 factors that cause defects in t-shirts, the proposed improvements are implemented, namely, providing understanding, warning and giving rest time to operators, checking raw materials at the beginning before entering the warehouse and using them, carrying out machine maintenance and using the right machine settings, implementing SOPs. work, and stricter QC supervision. Based on the results of the implementation of the proposed improvement, this research succeeded in reducing defects. Before repairing jersey t-shirt defects, the percentage was 6.22% to 0.91% with a reduction difference of 5.31%. This reduction has reached the convection target, which targets 0-5% product defects on t-shirts
