Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of internal and external factors on the capital structure and specifically will test which factors are dominantly affecting the company's capital structure. The results of this test can be subject to additional discussion on the capital structure both in the classroom and academic space in general because so far, the discussion of factors affecting capital structure is still focused on internal factors of the company alone, especially in Indonesia. This goal will be achieved by observing manufacturing company panel data for 10 years (2006 - 2015). Data will be tested using multiple regression analysis techniques, both with the Common Effect (OLS), Fixed Effect or Random Effect Models. The three models are used to accommodate variations in the characteristics of the sample of companies studied which generally will affect the relationship between variables. The test results show that the best estimation model is Fixed Effect with the finding that the Capital Structure is determined by internal (Accounting) and external (Market) factors, which are negatively affected by Liquidity (Current Ratio), Company Age (Age), and Stock Market Value (Mispricing). This result also shows that companies in Indonesia adhere to the Market timing Hypothesis and Pecking Order Theory in determining the capital structure theory.

Abstract

This study aims to empirically examine the effectiveness of design thinking training to improve the intention to behave innovatively and creatively. The research method used to carry out this research is the Quasi Experiment Method. The results of hypothesis testing using t-test showed that there was no significant difference in creativity scores between before and after the training treatment. This shows that Design Thinking training is not effective in increasing creativity. However, the two alternative hypotheses were tested using t-test showed that there were significant differences scores of innovative behavior intention before and after treatment of Design Thinking. This shows that Design Thinking training is effective in increasing the intention to behave innovative. This research is expected to contribute studies on the effectiveness of the Design Thinking training method and produce a training module that can be used in the entrepreneurial learning process. Based on the results of this study, Design Thinking training can be used as a method to encourage innovative behavior. intensi berperilaku inovatif, kreativitas, design thinking, pelatihan design thinking

Abstract

The competitive strength of companies in the current era of global trade is largely determined by the company's ability to manage their brands. The implementation of an effective brand management strategy was proven to have an impact on the formation of competitive advantage through a form of commitment and customer loyalty to the company's brand. This study aims to examine the role of key elements of brand management in shaping customer loyalty. The quantitative study was conducted in order to investigate the effect of brand innovativeness, brand customer orientation, brand self-relevance, and brand social responsibility on brand commitment. 252 responses from Indonesian respondents were collected and then analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results prove that the four key elements of brand management have a great influence on the formation of brand commitment and loyalty.

Abstract

The global economic crisis has become a nightmare for other countries when the crisis is originated from a multipower country. A financial crisis that hit European countries (Greece) in 2010 and the United States (US) in 2011 can be categorized as a financial crisis caused by a high state’s debt that leads to default. The response to the financial crisis is reflected in capital market players’ reactions, where other countries will respond to a particular endemic financial crisis. The objectives of this research are (1). Analyze the Impulse Response Function (IRF) of the Composite Stock Price Index of the US on Composite Stock Price Index in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Australia. (2). Analyze the Impulse Response Function (IRF) of the Composite Stock Price Index of Greece on the Composite Stock Price Index in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Australia. (3). Analyze the Forecasting Error Variance Decomposition (FEVD) of the Composite Stock Price Index of Indonesia on the Composite Stock Price Index of Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Australia. The analysis will be conducted using VAR (Vector Autoregression). The result shows that all variables are responded to the financial crisis that happened in Greece and the US. This is reflected by the shocks created by the financial crisis in ASEAN-5 countries and Australia. On the other hand, the Composite Stock Price Index of Indonesia is also affected by Malaysia and Singapore.

Abstract

Microfinance is one of the key aspects that help the development of MSME, and it also applies globally. In many previous studies, there are no coherence about the impact of microfinance towards the development of MSME. We investigate the impact of microfinance to the development of MSME in Indonesia. Panel regression is the method that is utilized in this present study because the current data is in panel form which came from 32 provinces in Indonesia with the range of 2012-2014. Results indicated that there are two variables which are the number of microloans, HDI that significantly influence the development of MSME, microloans and HDI are negatively affected. The conclusion reflected the public views of Indonesian regarding entrepreneurship & MSME development. Entrepreneurship is viewed poorly by the public, society values working in cooperations are more valuable. The results of the research also indicated boundaries such as regulations, and views that obstructed the development of MSME in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze negative affectivity and conflict styles as potential causes of workplace victimization. A sample survey of 100 respondents was conducted in the public sector in Indonesia. Multiple regression analysis was used in the study to test the hypothesis. Results suggested that there was a significant relationship between negative affectivity and perceived victimization. Furthermore, we found that conflict styles were related to perceived victimization. Obliging style and integrating style had a negative relationship with perceived victimization. Meanwhile, the dominating style was positively related to perceived victimization. This study investigated empirically workplace victimization in the public sector from the victims’ perspective. Caution should be exercised in generalizing the results. Future studies can investigate both victims' and perpetrator's perspectives in the analysis of workplace victimization. Also, future research should pay attention to the extent to which certain types of leaders, organizational factors and person behaviors influence victimization. An understanding of individual determinants will help an organization to prevent victimization in the environment. Also, the organization should have a certain mechanism to protect employees from workplace victimization. To the extent of the author’s knowledge, this research is one of the few studies that has been made from the victim’s perspective of workplace victimization in the public sector in Indonesia.
