Abstract

Subjective well-being plays a crucial role in helping parents of children with special needs find meaning and positivity in life. Research indicates a positive relationship between subjective well-being and kindness. This study aims to investigate the influence of kindness on the subjective well-being of parents who have children with special needs. The research employs a quantitative method with a correlational approach. Participants included 150 parents of children with special needs, selected through snowball sampling techniques. The instruments used for measurement were the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), the Positive Affect Negative Affect Scale (PANAS), and the VIA Inventory of Strengths (VIA-IS 120). Data analysis was conducted using simple regression. The results demonstrated a significant influence of kindness on the positive affect dimension (\( p < 0.001 \)). This finding suggests that as kindness increases, so does positive affect among parents of children with special needs.

Abstract

Healthcare services in hospitals are a significant concern in Indonesia, where the quality of employee performance is often considered suboptimal. This may be influenced by cultural factors and levels of employee commitment. This study aims to examine the impact of organizational culture and organizational commitment on employee performance in hospitals, both individually and collectively. The research adopts a quantitative correlational approach. Research subjects were selected using purposive sampling techniques, with data obtained from 167 hospital employees in Lamongan. The study utilized scales measuring employee performance, organizational culture, and organizational commitment. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that organizational culture and organizational commitment together have a significant effect on employee performance, with an F value of 15.864 and a p-value less than 0.000, contributing an effective contribution of 16.2%. However, the partial effect analysis reveals that while organizational culture influences employee performance, organizational commitment does not significantly affect employee performance.

Abstract

During the election period, as well as before and after, there were numerous controversies, one of which involved conflicts between political party sympathizers, including those that occurred in Bima Regency. This conflict was identified as an act of aggression. Aggressiveness often arises from the high levels of fanaticism held by individuals or political party sympathizers. The aim of this research is to examine how fanaticism influences the aggressiveness of political party sympathizers in Bima Regency, with altruism as a moderating factor. The research employed quantitative correlational methods, using data analysis techniques such as moderated regression analysis. Three scales were used in this study: the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ), a fanaticism scale, and an altruism scale. The results showed a significant influence of fanaticism on aggressiveness (p<0.005; β = 0.398). However, the second result indicated that altruism did not moderate the relationship between fanaticism and aggressiveness (p>0.005; β = -0.009). The implication of the research is that political party sympathizers should avoid excessive fanaticism to prevent aggressive behavior.

Abstract

Elementary school children have the potential to develop positively with the support of their social environment. The more positive experiences presented in a child's daily life, the more likely they are to grow into well-adjusted individuals. The aim of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Program Tetirah Bimasakti in reducing challenging behaviors in elementary school children. This study utilized a quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design. Participants included six children enrolled in the Program Tetirah Bimasakti, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument employed was the Indonesian version of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) for children. Data analysis was conducted using the paired sample t-test. The results indicated a decrease in the participants' difficulty scores; however, there was no significant change in their prosocial scores. This suggests that while the Program Tetirah Bimasakti was effective in reducing difficult behaviors, it was insufficient for fostering prosocial behavior. Consequently, this study implies that relevant institutions should develop structured modules for activity programs that can be tailored to specific and targeted competencies.

Abstract

This scoping study aimed to explore the use of hypnotic-based interventions for individuals with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Four research questions were addressed: the types of hypnosis-based interventions, the types of NCDs studied, the targeted outcomes, and the evidence of effectiveness. Using Arksey and O'Malley's framework, a systematic search of databases (Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed) was conducted from March to April 2021. Studies published in English between 2001 and 2021, employing Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs), were included. Out of 6,382 unique records, 11 primary studies met the inclusion criteria, encompassing 589 participants across four NCD subgroups: diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. Five types of hypnotic interventions were identified: mindfulness, relaxation, self-hypnosis, hypnotherapy, and cognitive behavior therapy plus hypnosis. The outcomes assessed included pain, fatigue, anxiety, sleep quality, dyspnoea, emotion, panic, and quality of life. While the results suggest that hypnotic-based interventions hold promise as supportive therapy for NCD patients, especially in addressing psychological symptoms, the evidence remains inconclusive. Further research is needed to establish the overall effectiveness of hypnosis in this context. Nonetheless, these findings highlight the potential of hypnosis to complement medical treatments for NCDs.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the relationship between work motivation, workplace spirituality, and counterproductive work behavior among employees in a multimedia company. The study utilizes a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected using the Counterproductive Work Behavior Scale, Work Motivation Scale, and Workplace Spirituality Scale. The sample consisted of 70 employees chosen through saturated sampling techniques. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS version 23 software. The results of the regression analysis revealed that the F-value for the main hypothesis—examining the relationship between work motivation, workplace spirituality, and counterproductive work behavior—was 19.174, with a significance level of ( p < 0.01 ), indicating a significant relationship. Specifically, work motivation accounted for 12.7% of the variance in counterproductive behavior, while workplace spirituality contributed 23.7%, leading to a total contribution of 36.4%. The remaining 63.6% of the variance is influenced by other variables not discussed in this study. These findings suggest that higher levels of workplace spirituality and work motivation can help reduce counterproductive behavior, foster a positive work environment, and enhance employees' connection to their work.
