Abstract

Diarrhea can be defined as a condition where a person experiences an increased frequency of defecation, which results in liquid or non-solid faeces. Washing hands with soap is a fundamental and essential technique for preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases. Hands are one of the main routes for bacteria to enter and infect the body. Diarrhea is one of the factors causing death, so there must be prevention of diarrhea incidents. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between hand washing behavior using soap and the incidence of diarrhea. This research includes quantitative research analysis using a cross-sectional design. Research activities were conducted at State Elementary School 04 Rantau Utara from February to March 2024. The population studied in this research were all students from Elementary School 268 Negeri 04 Rantau Utara. The sampling technique used was random sampling, which resulted in a research sample of 71 people. The variables examined in this research include hand washing behavior using soap and the incidence of diarrhea.. Data was collected through questionnaires. Data analysis carried out included univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test using SPSS version 24 software. Based on the analysis results, a p-value of 0.000 <0.05. This shows that there is a statistically significant relationship between handwashing behaviour using soap and the incidence of diarrhea. This is due to a lack of good and correct hand washing with soap, which causes diarrhoea. Many still need to understand the basic techniques for washing hands with soap properly. Having hand washing facilities and infrastructure will make it easier for children to wash their hands properly so that they can effectively break the chain of bacteria. Abstract

Chronic disease management program (Prolanis) is a program that focuses on 2 diseases, namely hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Increased blood pressure exceeding 140 mmHg for diastole and above 90 mmHg for systole is hypertension. Although elevated blood sugar (glucose) levels in the body are a diabetic mellitus. Both diseases can attack anyone, especially the elderly. The elderly are very susceptible to disease due to decreased immunity and physical health. The disease can become complication that leads to death. With these complications, it's likely to disrupt the quality of life in the elderly. One effort to improve the quality of life of population, including the elderly, requires effective and efficient management in the form of self-care behavior management. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how elderly Prolanis members' quality of life and self care management relate to one another. This research uses cross-sectional methodology and is quantitative in nature. From May to June 2024, this study was carried out at the Grogol Sukoharjo Community Health Center. There were 288 elderly Prolanis members at the Grogol Sukoharjo Community Health Center who made up the study's population. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in disposable mask usage, raising environmental concerns due to improper disposal. This research aims to investigate the decomposition of disposable mask waste, specifically duckbill masks, by immersing them in 32% HCl and 98% H2SO4 solutions. This research uses experimental research methods for processing mask waste using the method of immersion in 32% HCl solution and immersion in 98% H2SO4. Fifty grams of mask waste were soaked in 1000 ml of each acid solution for periods of 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks, with four replications for each time period, and water used as a control. After soaking, the masks were dried and re-weighed to assess weight loss. The data were analyzed using T-tests and ANOVA with SPSS 26. Results showed that after 4 weeks, H2SO4 reduced mask mass by 26%, while HCl achieved a 22% reduction. In the first week, H2SO4 reduced the weight by 3 grams, increasing to a total reduction of 13 grams by the fourth week. Similarly, HCl reduced the mask weight by 2 grams in the first week, with a total reduction of 11 grams by the end of the experiment. The findings suggest that H2SO4 is more effective than HCl in degrading disposable mask waste, offering a potential solution for managing mask waste environmentally. For the local government, it is necessary to make efforts to socialize the community in order to broaden their knowledge regarding the management of disposable mask waste so that the volume of mask waste stockpiles can be reduced and can be more beneficial. Abstract

Musculoskeletal complaints refer to discomfort or pain in the musculoskeletal system, ranging from mild to severe. One type of job that is particularly prone to musculoskeletal disorders is copra work, primarily due to poor working posture. This study aims to analyze the effect of working posture on musculoskeletal disorder complaints among copra workers in Tanjung Balai, Asahan Regency. The study is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design, conducted in Bandar Jawa Village, Tanjung Balai Subdistrict, Asahan Regency, from December 2023 to February 2024. The study population consisted of all 139 copra workers in Bandar Jawa Village, and a sample of 104 workers was selected using the Slovin formula. The sampling technique employed was simple random sampling. Data were collected through surveys and questionnaires administered to respondents. The research instruments used were the Nordic Body Map and the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) evaluation sheet. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 24, with three stages: univariate analysis using frequency, bivariate analysis using simple linear regression, and multivariate analysis using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with a significance level of 95% (α=0.05). The results showed that working posture significantly affected musculoskeletal disorder complaints, moderated by smoking habits, with a p-value of 0.001. It can be concluded that smoking exacerbates the negative effects of poor working posture on musculoskeletal health, increasing the risk of injury and slowing recovery. It is recommended that copra workers take preventive measures against musculoskeletal disorder complaints by improving their work environment, paying attention to rest periods, engaging in light relaxation exercises, and that employers provide education on worker safety and health to copra workers. Abstract

Vocational High School (VHS) is an educational institution with various practical activities to equip students to master the competencies needed when working in the industrial world. Working in a practical workshop has various potential hazards, including the risk of experiencing work accidents, one of which is due to unsafe action. A preliminary survey based on the results of observations showed that out of 30 VHS students working in the practical workshop, 83.3% of them had unsafe actions such as not using personal protective equipment, as well as chatting and joking during the practical process. This study aims to determine the factors that influence unsafe action in the practical workshop of students of public vocational schools in Medan City. The study population was class XI students, totalling 164 students, with a sample size of 113 students selected by simple random sampling. This type of research is quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted in three Vocational Schools with mechanical engineering majors in Medan City: State Vocational School 2, State Vocational School 5, and State Vocational School 14. Data analysis was conducted univariately and bivariately, with simple and multivariate data, and with multiple logistic regression. The results showed that the majority of students had unsafe action (84.1%), as well as knowledge (60.2%) and supervision (61.1%). Supervision (p=0.012) had a relationship with unsafe action, while knowledge (p=0.143) and tools and equipment (p=0.121) did not show significant relationship. Students with poor supervision had 3.937 times (95% CI: 1.353-11.640) risk of unsafe action compared to those with good supervision.
