Abstract

Feminists advocate for gender equality, aiming to ensure that women are granted the same rights as men. They evaluate the subjugation endured by women due to a patriarchal societal structure that privileges men and marginalizes women. Feminists not only rectified the social system, but also rectified religion due to its perceived gender discrimination in their teachings. The concept of equality of rights refers to the notion of identical rights. This concept has also extended to the realm of education and is deemed to engender novel societal issues due to its origins in power dynamics. This article will elucidate the notion of gender as a foundation for education, drawing from Sachiko Murata’s perspectives. This suggests the inference that education should adopt an equitable paradigm in perceiving women and men as individuals. Women and men are distinct genders, each characterized by their own unique biological and physiological attributes. Nevertheless, both entities have an equivalent function in existence, hence it is imperative to establish a celestial connection.

Abstract

The aim of this essay is to provide a comprehensive analysis of Mohammed Arkoun's rationalist evaluation of the intellectual culture within the Arab-Islamic context. This study employs a functional approach that aims to reinterpret religious concepts within the context of culture and the daily interactions of individuals in society. The study's findings indicate that Arkoun's critique of Islamic rationalism, as approached through the lens of historicism, exhibits a significant impact from current Western philosophers. Arkoun incorporates various Western philosophies and notions in his analysis of the passages of the Koran. In his exploration of Islamic beliefs, Arkoun draws upon several theoretical frameworks like poststructuralism, corpus, episteme, discourse, deconstruction, myth, and logocentrism. Arkoun employs semiotic theory and extends its application to the interpretation of Quranic passages, surpassing the boundaries of semiotics as a discipline. Furthermore, Arkoun undertook a comprehensive examination of the interpretations of the Al-Quran's verses, aiming to prevent any potential confusion, rectify interpretive inaccuracies, and safeguard the Muslim community from divergent understandings. (iii) Arkoun thinks that the symbolic construction of the Koran has exerted a profound influence on the collective consciousness and cognitive processes of humanity, hence serving as a source of inspiration to rectify one's thinking and direct individuals towards morally upright deeds.

Abstract

According to Islamic law and jurisprudence, permanent and temporary marriage are the only forms of marriage recognised in Iran. A form of temporary marriage known as sigha-ye mahramiyat or simply sigheh is commonly practised in traditional parts of society. Temporary marriage, which is often used as a justification for early marriage and can have significant social and psychological consequences, particularly for girls, is not regulated by law and has received little attention. Studies conducted on the topic have largely supported the practice of temporary marriage and have not comprehensively examined its effects on society. This research is the first to examine the historical, religious, legal and social foundations of temporary marriage or sigheh. It comprehensively examines the phenomenon of temporary marriage/sigheh in Tehran, Mashhad and Isfahan in the years 2016 and 2017, using both qualitative and quantitative methods and grounded theory. The research findings indicate that temporary marriage/sigheh is driven by a desire for pleasure and its creation of circumstances that accommodate child marriage. This practice has negative effects, including joblessness, particularly for women, and a negative view of permanent marriage among men. The aim is to objectively and impartially examine the hidden and visible aspects of temporary marriage and sigheh, to provide a clear and accurate understanding of this social phenomenon and provide practical and realistic solutions for policymakers and lawmakers. It is hoped that, based on these solutions, the institution of temporary marriage in Iran will be regulated in a way that respects the rights of women and children and preserves the foundation of the family and the status of permanent marriage.

Abstract

The objective of this work is to expound upon Shiite philosophy and constitutional theory by drawing upon the views and ideology of Imam Khomeini. In addition, this research endeavours to compare the constitutional ideas of Shiite and Sunni factions. This study employs the methodology of literature review. Several primary and secondary sources pertaining to the research objectives were thoroughly reviewed, analysed, and compared. The study's findings indicate that within Shiite ideology, the power and control over authority are exclusively attributed to God. Allah is the ultimate arbiter of all natural phenomena and every entity within it. God possesses supreme authority, possesses dominion, and bestows legislation. According to this philosophical understanding of existence, it is necessary for human civilization to be guided by a leadership that is of divine nature. In Shi'a thought, Muhammad's role as a prophet and messenger of Allah entails not only the responsibility of communicating divine law (al-qanūn al-ilāhi), but also the duty of putting that law into practice.

Abstract

The architectural designs of contemporary mosques in Indonesia show varied designs, including international modern designs or Middle Eastern-Indian-European models with geometric patterns. This condition indirectly shows that modernism or neo-modernism which is rooted in Middle Eastern culture as a cultural expression is considered to be more representative of Islamic culture than local culture. From the perspective of architectural design and cultural thinking, this is interesting to explore to find out how far regionalism is an alternative for developing Islamic architectural identity in Indonesia. The method used in the research is a qualitative approach by observing and comparing mosque architectural phenomena and exploring architectural elements. The results of the study show that regionalism can accommodate the creative development of Islamic architecture which embodies the valuesof Islamic teachings and environmental identity, the historical context of the people and the spirit of progress contained in the expression of modernity. This concept of thought is in line with al-urf's thinking which provides opportunities for local architectural elements to become part of typical Islamic culture. This design thinking is expressed in the form of post-modern architecture: (1) An architectural concept that integrates local and international cultural forms in concrete form, (2) An architectural concept that emphasizes spirited abstraction in accommodating the valuesof Islamic teachings and local culture in the aim of obtaining optimal benefits. Key words: al-urf, local culture, regionalism.
