Abstract

Fiscal capacity through Local Own-Source Revenuedescribes the region's ability to explore existing sources of income in the region. Data from BPS (2019) on the level of regional independence shows 11 provinces in the low category, 15 provinces in the low category, and eight provinces in the moderate category. Until now, no province in Indonesia has been included in the high category of regional independence. The novelty of this study, trying to revisit the issue of Local Own-Source Revenue in Indonesia. The purpose of the study was to analyze the influence of per capita GDP variables, the value of the trade sector, and the value of the agricultural sector on Local Own-Source Revenuecapacity. Local Own-Source Revenue capacity is measured using the concept of tax capacity, namely Local Own-Source Revenuedivided by PDRB. The object of the study was 34 provinces in Indonesia during the period 2010-2019 (10 years). The research method uses an unbalanced regression panel with a fixed-effect model approach. The study results were that the per capita GDP had a positive and significant effect on Local Own-Source Revenue capacity. The trade sector had a positive and insignificant effect, and the agricultural sector had a significant negative impact on Local Own-Source Revenuecapacity. Therefore, the Provincial Government needs to continue to increase GDP per capita, issue regulations, and maintain regional conditions to support trade activities and approach the public to pay taxes, especially provincial taxes. The provincial government also needs to increase the downstream and industrialization of agricultural products to increase the capacity of Local Own-Source Revenue. Keywords: Local Own-Source Revenue; Tax Capacity

Abstract

Economic growth as a macroeconomic indicator that becomes a benchmark for a region can be seen from the increase in the income per capita of its population and the increase in production activities in various economic business fields. The magnitude of the economic potential of Makassar City is not directly proportional to the existing economic growth. The government seems unable to reproduce new sources of growth and this is exacerbated by the post-Covid-19 virus exposure. This is a problem for accelerating the city's economic growth. The novelty of this research tries to explore further the potential sources of new economic growth in Makassar City which is seen from sectoral contributions, namely the education sector, tourism sector, industrial sector, and trade sector. The purpose of this study describes the influence of the contribution of the education sector, tourism sector, industrial sector, and trade sector on economic growth in Makassar City. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency in Makassar City. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS 23 software. The results show that the variables of education, industry, and trade have a positive and significant impact on economic growth in Makassar City. However, the tourism sector has no effect on economic growth in Makassar City. The implication of the research is that the government should strive to increase economic growth, by accelerating potential productive sectors, as the findings of this research, namely the education, trade and industry sectors, as a new source of economic growth for Makassar City. This is the focus so that in the future the city's economy will improve and become part of the economic recovery strategy agenda after the Covid-19 case. Keywords: Covid-19; Education; Growth; Industry; Trading

Abstract

There are still many challenges facing the field of child health in Indonesia. Children's health is crucial due to its role in Indonesia’s future economic development and growth. The objective of this research is to determine the consequence of a mother’s work status on children's health. Other factors such as the effect of the location of residence (urban and rural) and the level of mother's education are also evaluated on children's health. This study was conducted using data obtained from IFLS 5 (Indonesia Family Life Survey 5) in 2014 with a sample size of 8,907 individuals. This study utilizes the Binary Logit regression method using STATA 14. The results indicated that the status of a mother’s work has a significant and negative effect on the level of children's health, while the mother's education level and location of residence (urban) have a significant and positive effect on the level of children's health. This research implies the promotion of education for future improvements in child health. Keywords: Child Health; Mother's Education Status; Mother's Work Status; Place of Residence

Abstract

Economic growth is no longer just to improve the economy alone, but economic growth must also pay attention to the welfare of the community and be carried out by paying attention to the quality of the economic growth. Good economic growth is not only temporary but long term. One of the government's efforts by this concept is to create inclusive and sustainable economic growth. The measure of the quality of economic growth can be seen through the Inclusive Economic Development Index (IGI). However, achieving inclusive economic growth is not easy. The novelty of the research is that inclusive economic growth is not only approached with an economic approach but non-economic variables are also included, to see further this interrelation. The method used in this research is quantitative with a descriptive approach. Panel regression analysis models and techniques using stata. The results of this study indicate that technology and human resources have a significant and positive effect on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia from 2017 to 2019. Meanwhile, politics has a positive but not significant effect on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia from 2017 to 2019. From the results of this study, it can be seen that also that technology, politics, and human resources simultaneously have a significant and positive effect on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia from 2017 to 2019. The implications of this research include, among others, the government needs to optimize HR productivity. Keywords: Inclusive Economy; Political; Human Resources; Technology

Abstract

The Gender Development Index in Indonesia and East Java 2019 is still below the world and national average. This shows that the equality of development between male and female in East Java is still lagging behind other provinces. The novelty of this research is trying to revisit the issue of the Gender Development Index (GDI) in East Java. This research aims to analyze the effect of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), poor population, and Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) on the Gender Development Index (GDI) in East Java partially and simultaneously. This research uses quantitative research methods with panel data regression analysis techniques. The data used in this research is secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics in East Java during 2017-2019. The results of this research showed that the GRDP variable and poor population variable have a negative and significant effect on the Gender Development Index. Meanwhile, the LFPR variable has an insignificant and positive effect on the Gender Development Index. In addition, simultaneously the variable of GRDP, poor population, and LFPR has a significant effect on the Gender Development Index. Currently, there is still a gap between the roles of men and women. The role of women is still not optimally utilized because women's resources in the fields of health, education, and the workforce are still low. But this can be overcome if there is an increase in the labor productivity of both male and female residents so the income of the population will also increase and the number of poor people decreases. The implication of this research is the role of all parties, especially the government, is needed to pay more attention to and increase population growth and reduce poverty levels to increase gender equality in East Java. Keywords: GRDP; Gender Development Index; Poverty
