Abstract

Resilience is a dynamic and diverse process where individuals show psychological functioning despite unpleasant events (trauma). Resilient individuals can use personal abilities to deal with difficult situations and are influenced by the belief held by individuals that every problem can be solved with good results. This is inseparable from understanding within the individual not to judge anyone when dealing with issues. This study aims to show optimism and self-compassion as predictors of resilience in students. The research sample comprised 97 students from a private university in Palembang, Indonesia, who were 18-21 years old and was obtained by a multistage random sampling technique. Research data were obtained by filling out three adaptation scales, namely the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, Self-Compassion Scale, and Optimism Scale. Data analysis used multiple regression analysis techniques. Cronbach's Alpha coefficient reliability for Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (0.824), Self-Compassion Scale (0.927), and Optimism Scale (0.775). The research results show optimism and self-compassion as predictors of resilience in students

Abstract

The current study explored if Presence and Search for meaning in life mediate the relationship between Spiritual experience and Personal growth. 176 college students complete the meaning in life, spiritual experience, and personal growth surveys. JAMOVI GLM Mediation Model was used to understand the mediation of Presence and Search for Meaning. Findings indicate a full mediation of Presence of Meaning as a mediator between Spiritual experience and Personal growth. However, Search for Meaning fail to obtain a significant mediation. According to our findings, the Search for meaning does not predict Personal growth. Thus, people who perceive spiritual experience as a source of meaning could experience personal growth.

Abstract

This article explores the relationship between family economic status and parental involvement in supporting student success through effective school-family partnerships. Using a qualitative literature review approach, the authors analyzed 29 selected studies 20 qualitative and 9 quantitative published within the past decade. The review reveals that family economic status significantly influences the level and quality of parental involvement in children’s education. Parents from low-income families often face barriers such as limited time, knowledge, and resources, while those from higher economic backgrounds may display selective involvement due to reliance on external support systems. The study highlights that both extremes of economic status can result in reduced collaboration between parents and schools, ultimately affecting student outcomes. The paper emphasizes the importance of teachers’ and counselors’ roles in fostering inclusive, culturally responsive partnerships that bridge economic disparities. By integrating insights from family-systems and school-based counseling perspectives, the study advocates for collaborative models that empower parents regardless of their socioeconomic conditions. The authors conclude that sustainable school-family partnerships can enhance students’ academic achievement, emotional well-being, and long-term development through equitable access to support and engagement
