Abstract

Growth and productivity of the plant was begun with germination process. If the seed did not have a good germination process, it would affect to the growth and yield of the plant. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of PGPR application as biological fertilizer on the spourt power and the germination rate of mustard and chili pepper. This research was conducted by dissolving 50 g of PGPR Rhizomax in 5 liters of water. The seeds of chili pepper and mustard were soaked into the PGPR solution as treatment and into water as control. They were soaked for 2 hours to chili pepper seeds and 15 minutes to the mustard seeds. Each treatment consisted of 50 seeds. Spinning time test were limited to 2 weeks in chili pepper seeds and 4 days in the mustard seeds. Percentage of germination daily of mustard seeds showed significant increase on 3rd day and the chili pepper seeds on the 8th day. The sprout power on control were only 40% in the chili seeds and 80% in the mustard seeds, but with PGPR application, they were 90%. The germination rate of mustard seeds in control and PGPR application were the same in 3rd day, but in chili pepper seeds, they were on the 9th day by using PGPR and 11th day in control. Abstract

Research about test of several varieties of rice plant (Oryza sativa L.) against pest snail (Pomaceae canaliculata Lamarck) (Mollusks; Ampullariidae) has been completed on the grounds of rice farmers in the Village of Limau Manis Subdistrict Pauh Padang of West Sumatera from December 2011 until May 2012. The aim of this research is to get varieties are resistant to pest snail. This study use Random Design Group (RAK) with eight and three treatment groups. Its treatment is the most common varieties planted in West Sumatera that is IR 66, Cisokan, IR 42, Kuriek Kusuik, Batang Piaman, Anak Daro, Caredek Merah, and Junjuang. Experimental units of rice plant field with the size of the map 1 x 1 m that contains 25 clump rice crops and given six tail snail in piloting. The parameter is the percentage of attacks observed snail, snail intensity of attack and production. Data analyzed by fingerprint variety and continued with Duncan’s New Multipele Range Test (DNMRT) on standard 5%. The result showed that all varieties are tested there is no that is resistant to pest snail attacks, but varieties Junjuang and Kuriek kusuik have more resisting power than with other varieties that are tested. Abstract

One of the factor that determine the quality of cocoa seed is fertility of growing of medium. Fertility of growing medium can be increase with fertilization by using of ZA fertilizer and of NPK 15.15.15 fertilizer be expected to increase cocoa seedlings. This research was carried out in Bukit Perjuangan Village, Rantau Utara Sub District of West Labuhanbatu, East of Nort Sumatera in April – June 2013 using randomize complete block design with two factors. The first factor is ZA fertilizer (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 gr/polybag) and the second factor is NPK 15.15.15 fertilizer (0, 2, 4 gr/polybag). Parameter observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, and leavea area. From the research, of ZA fertilizer unsignificantly affect on all parameters. of NPK 15.15.15 fertilizer significantly affect plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves and leaves area. Interaction of ZA fertilizer and of NPK 15.15.15 fertilizer unsignificantly affect on all parameters. The result from this experimental were obtained in the treatment of ZA fertilizer at no ZA fertilizer application ( Z0 ) and of NPK 15.15.15 at no NPK 15.15.15 fertilizer application ( P0 ). Abstract

The objective of the research was to know effect of treatment low temperature and cryoprotectants, and combination to seed viability of rosele. The research was conducted at the Seed Technology Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan with height ± 25 meters above sea level, in January to February 2014, using a randomized block design with 4 level low temperature stratification and cryoprotectants treatment as well combination and control. Parameters observed were moisture content seed (%), germination rate (day), germination normal (%), abnormal sprouts (%), seeds die (%), vigor index (%), wet weight of sprouts (g), dry weight of sprouts (g). The results showed that rosele seed viability using provision cryoprotectants and cooling rate -5°C the best result in treatments other. Abstract

Patchouli (PogostemoncablinBenth) is a plant that has been known to take oil extraction. One of the patchouli propagation techniques is cuttings. This research aims to get the best consentration of induced of Patchouli root. The research was conducted in STIPER Labuhanbatufrom January 2017 to June 2017. The plant material was Patchouli at the cuttings with a bud. The results showed that the best concentration to obtain a high percentage of life (90%), root length (22.27 cm) and the highest number of roots (5.03 units) in patchouli plants was treated with a 25 ppm IBA immersion.
