Abstract

It is believed that internet helps people to do better and faster. It has been used globally in almost every aspects of life. In education, internet is known as the golden key to intelligence, since it offers unlimited resource. It can be learning media in the classroom or while self-learning. Considered as an international language, English is used as main tool of communication on internet. It acts as the language of the instructions and language of the users. It is interesting to analyze its use by students in a developing country like Indonesia. In fact, Indonesia is one of the countries with millions internet users. As a result, e-learning becomes an option to deal with teaching learning process, especially for students of English department. By using internet, they can master certain topics and English themselves better. This study is quantitative research using pre-experimental design. It is aimed to analyze the effect of e-learning on achievement of students in Universitas Potensi Utama. The research result of this study was calculated by using Wilcox on test in which p-value is 0.462 and p> 0.05 which means the Null hypothesis is accepted. So it is concluded that there is no significant difference between e-learning and traditional learning. However, students have positive perceptions on e-learning because they argue that it can make them highly motivated to learn more about the subject.

The research used is qualitative. The method used in this research was classroom action research (CAR). The conclusion from the results of this study is the improvement of the character of students in the classroom in Maritime English learning can be done by choosing the right learning method. On the other hand, the material in the syllabus and lesson plan (RPP) is very helpful for the teacher in arranging the methods, discussions, strategies and learning media needed while in the classroom. Students gave positive respond to changes in learning and learning methods used by teachers.

Abstract

This study was intended to find out whether or not there was any significant difference between the students who were taught by using chart game and those who were not. The population of this research was the fifth graders of One State Primary School Banyuasin academic year 2018/2019 with the total number of 58 students. The method used in this study was quantitative with quasi experimental method design. Then, the data were collected from vocabulary test. Researcher did 10 meetings along the research, 1 meeting for pre-test, 8 meetings for treatment, and the rest 1 meeting for post test. Post test result showed that mean of experimental group was 79.10 and mean of control group was 68.14. After being calculated by using independent sample t-test, it was found that value of t-obtained 5.564. It was higher than the critical value of t-table 2.003. Meanwhile, the values of significant (2-tailed) was .000. It indicated that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. In other words, there was significant difference between the fifth graders who were taught by using chart game and those who were not.

The language acquisition study is able to tell us more information about development of language psychologically and intellectually on child. Relationship of surrounding and children affect them in using language. The objective of this study is to investigate the patterns of sentence on Indonesian declarative are acquired by the three-year-old child. The study is a case study, the data were a child’s utterances and the source of the data were taken from a child is three year old.  The way of the researcher to collect sufficient data, the recorder was used for collecting the data. The child’s utterances were recorded every Sunday for three weeks. The outcome of this study found A three-year-old child was not able to acquire the complex grammatical. Of the six pattern proposed, he was just able to acquire three out of them, the running pattern, being pattern and doing/seeing pattern. On the other hand, he wasn’t able to acquire the pattern of  giving/buying (ditransitive verb), the pattern of making/considering (complex-transitive verbs) and same verb, different pattern. But from those three declarative patterns acquired, a child also acquired more the sub-patterns. Meanwhile the process tells that the subjects’ sentence production basically influence by both nature process (that language is basically innate, that children were born with language acquisition device that children acquire grammar of language without adult’s instruction) and nurture process (that children’s task is learning how different words behave in sentence, categorizing together words that behave in similar ways and extracting the pattern that govern this behavior from the input that they hear around them).
