Abstract

Seaweed dried device that has been changed well done, which the system has transferred the warm throughout the left and the right side wall can transfer the warm to the dried shelves. The dried has been for 28 hours on the 40oc – 60oc temperature with the heavy of the dried sea weed is about 20 kg. the seaweed dried device specification conclude of ; 124 cm high, 80 cm length, 80 cm width. The warm space has length 77 cm, 48 cm width, 9 cm high, with 27 kg capacities the coral stones as the warm media.

Abstract

This research aims to manufacture Melamine Formaldehyde Resin as a raw material coating with a mole ratio that is different and knowing the characteristics of MF resins. The research was carried out by reacting Melamine and Formaldehyde with a mole ratio of 1:2; 1:3; 1:4; 1:5 and 1:6 and characterize the properties of the resulting Melamine Formaldehyde Resin with Viscosity, Pot Life and pH parameter. The conclusión of this research that the best Melamine Formaldehyde Resin is produced on a mole ratio 1:6 of Melamine Formaldehyde with a reaction time of 14 minutes and the following characteristics : viscosity value is 1550 (mm2/s)/centistokes; Pot Life is 3 days and the pH is 6,63.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to treat wastewater from cold storage industries using the plug flow activated sludge process at the laboratory scale. Various were that used in this research are 0 (control), 6, 12, 18 and 30 hours for Hidrolic Retention Time (HRT) and also numbers of seeding are 0,5 %, 1 %, 1,5 %, and 0 % (control) taken from the ditches of cold storage industry. The research result indicated that generally, there was decrease of pollutant concentration in both control and treated samples by adding seeding. The best result in efficiency without adding seeding as a contorl were obtained in 30 hours, and were able to achieve a 75 percent Total Suspended Solid reduction and 87,76 percent removed COD. Whereas the best result in efficiency by adding seeding 1% was obtained in 24 hours, it was possible to acieve 75,71 percent Total Suspended Solid reduction and remove COD by 83,33 percent.

Abstract

Chrome by product comes not only from elektroplating industry but also textile industry, leather tanning and laboratory waste. Looking at its existence and hazard, chrome by product has to further handled in order not to give negative effects to living creatures and environment. To avoid polluting the environment, the waste has to be processed first by lowering its content. One of the methods to reduce the content of the heavy metal is adsorption by using active bentonite as adsorbent. The purpose of this research is to find out the ability of active bentonite in reducting the content of chrome by product in waste. The procedure in this research consists of bentonite preparation, bentonite activation, content of chrome analysis in the raw material (waste water electroplating). The optimum treatment for the adsorption was at the mass of 25 gram stirred at 597 rpm with the contact time of 4 hours. Adsorption at the mass 25 grams could reduce chrome content from the initial chrome content waste water 394.59 mg/L to 194.34 mg/L with the reduction of chrome  of 49.48%

Abstract

A study on white turmeric extract (Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.) Roscoe) pineapple juice as a preservative. Research objectives were to acquire the ability of white turmeric extract (Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.) Roscoe) to inhibit microbial growth in pineapple juice. Turmeric rhizome was made of white powder, weighing 250 grams of white turmeric powder and then dissolved with a solvent absolute ethanol 500 ml, let stand (24 hours), then filtered using filter paper Φ42 mm. The flitrat was evaporated by vaccum evaporator to obtain a viscous liquid, the dried vacuum oven to get powder. The white turmeric extract (Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.) Roscoe) was added to drink pineapple juice with a concentration of 600 mg/L, 650 mg/L, no treatment (control) and as a comparison material used sorbic acid with a concentration of 600 mg/L. Results showed that the addition of 650 mg extract white turmeric into 1 quart pineapple juice is able to get the shelf life of pineapple juice up to 30 days. By this treatment the results also showed no growth of bacterial contamination of Salmonella species, Escherichia Coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacilus cereus in the drink pineapple juice.
