Abstract

MPEG Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (MPEG-DASH) is a standard for HTTP streaming that allows interoperability between servers and clients from different vendors which is able to adjust the speed of video delivery to changing bandwidth. Today there is the latest H.265 video coding known as the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). This research implemented the delivery of the H.265 video through the method of Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) using mobile devices. The test was conducted by sending videos over 3G networks with GSM length video segment consists of 2 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds and 20 seconds. The video quality provided in this study consisted of 5 video levels with different bit rates. From the test results, the submitted videos using a smaller video segment generated greater throughput and acquired more video quality with a higher bit rate than the video to a larger segment. Video delivery with segment of 2 seconds acquired video quality with the highest level of 83%, meanwhile the video delivery segment of 20 seconds obtained video quality with the highest level of 33%.

Abstract

Rapid Application Development (RAD) is a methodology used to develop software. This method is able to reduce time to develop software. This becomes consideration in order to choose the Rapid Application Development as a methodology to develop Dutatani Website. Dutatani is a portal and a part of Integrated Agriculture Information System (IAIS). IAIS is an agriculture information system that has some subsystems that are connected and linked to each other. It also has an integrated database. In particular, Dutatani is able to manage user, manage content, and manage link in the IAIS. This website will be a link to other applications in the IAIS. This article especially discusses the development of the Dutatani Website using Rapid Application Development that is implemented by combining iterative development and system prototyping. There are some phases in the development using the RAD: planning, analysis, main design specific design, implementation and testing, and integrating prototype. This system was developed by a team which consists five members. The implementation of this prototyping technique was done by dividing five people into two groups in which each group had different responsibilities to different module/functions. This website had been developed within 150 days. Thus, in implementing the RAD, it is important for the team leader to monitor continuously. Monitoring is a useful technique to ensure the productivity and performance of each members in order to gain optimal development process.

Abstract

Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) is one of metaheuristic methods that is widely used in optimization problems. This method was inspired by the nature of flower pollination. In this research, FPA is applied to solve Optimal Power Flow (OPF) problems with case study of 500 kV Java-Bali power system in Indonesia. The system consists of 25 bus with 30 lines and 8 generating units. Control variables are generation of active power and voltage magnitude at PV bus and swing bus under several power system constraints. The results show that FPA method is capable of solving OPF problem. This method decreased the generator fuel cost of PT. PLN (Persero), the state-owned company in charge of providing electricity in Indonesia, up to 13.15%.

Abstract

Under various external conditions, grid connected PV system performance is strongly affected by the topology that is used to connect a PV system with grid. This research aims to design a multistring based converter topology for three-phase grid connected 200 kW PV system that has a high performance in various operating conditions. Research was done by a simulation method using Matlab-Simulink with performance being evaluated including the generated power, efficiency, power quality in accordance with grid requirements, as well as the power flow. In the simulation, multistring converter topology was designed using two dc-dc boost multistring converters connected in parallel to a centralized of three-phase three-level NPC inverter with the size of the string being shorter and more parallel strings as well as the maximum voltage of the PV array of 273.5 V close to dc voltage reference of 500 V. Each dc-dc boost multistring converter have individual MPPT controllers. The simulation results showed that this multistring converter topology had a high performance in various operating conditions. This due to more power generated by the NPC inverter (> 190 kW) at the time of high power generation on the STC conditions (1000 W/m2, 25 oC), the lowest efficiency of the total system is 95.08 % and the highest efficiency of the total system is 99.4 %, the quality of the power generated in accordance with the requirements of grid, as well as the inverter put more active power to the grid and less reactive power to the grid. The response of the inverter slightly worse for loads with greater reactive power and unbalanced.

Abstract

The use of some integrated circuits in an SMPS circuit are the main factor that increasing the cost. Self-oscillating feedback converter topology is a well-known circuit topology for low-cost application without using any single integrated circuit chip. In this paper, a Low Cost with high efficiency converter without any single integrated circuit component was analysed and designed. It has also multiple outputs of 3.3 V/1 A, 5 V/0.5 A, and 12 V/0.1 A so that it can be used as power supply for DVD player. Experiment results showed that it can deliver continuously output voltage as designed and a total output power of 7.3 W, with an efficiency for about 70%.
