Abstract

Tourism villages have contributed to improving the community economy, but the lack of optimal digital support for promotion has resulted in low visibility and popularity of tourism village destinations. Putak Tourism Village is one of those still experiencing this problem. The lack of knowledge and skills to optimize social media as a promotional medium remains an obstacle. This community service aims to optimize promotional strategies through social media to improve the branding of Putak Tourism Village. This community service activity is carried out through training and mentoring partners, using Instagram social media as a promotional strategy. The result of this program is an increase in the majority of Putak Tourism Village managers' understanding (86 percent understand) regarding the strategy for increasing tourism village branding through Instagram social media. The implication of this program shows that enhancing digital literacy through targeted social media training can significantly improve promotional capabilities and destination branding, thereby potentially increasing tourist visits and supporting the sustainable development of local tourism economies.

Abstract

The urgency of this community service stems from the persistence of gender-biased organizational practices within student bodies, which risk perpetuating inequality from an early stage. Addressing this issue in schools is essential to cultivate gender-aware leadership, foster inclusive organizational cultures, and support the national agenda for gender equality in education. This community service activity aims to strengthen gender relations and inclusive organizational culture within intra-school student organizations (OSIS). Conducted at SMAN 2 Bojonegoro, the activities involved socialization sessions and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with OSIS members. The program emphasized the understanding of gender concepts, equality, and the development of a supportive organizational environment. Results indicate that gender stereotypes still influence the division of tasks and leadership roles among students. The discussions revealed limited understanding of gender-inclusive practices, which led to organizational inequality and conflicts. However, the intervention successfully raised awareness, with post-test evaluations showing improved perspectives on gender fairness and inclusive organizational culture. This program concludes that sustained mentoring and gender-sensitive leadership practices are essential to transform student organizations into inclusive environments. The outcomes recommend continuous gender education, inclusive policy design, and intersectoral collaboration for long-term impact.

Abstract

Tanjung Jati Village, Muara Enim Regency, faces the problem of suboptimal management of household and agricultural organic waste. Organic waste such as fruit peels and vegetable scraps is generally thrown away without processing, thus polluting the environment and causing an unpleasant odor. To overcome this, training and mentoring were conducted on processing organic waste into eco-enzymes as liquid organic fertilizer (POC). This activity aims to improve community knowledge and skills in utilizing organic waste independently and sustainably. The training involved 30 participants from farmers, village officials, and residents, using lecture, discussion, and direct practice methods. The evaluation results showed an increase in participant knowledge of 84 percent, with an average pre-test score of 20.23 to 37.23 in the post-test. A total of 9 kg of organic waste was successfully processed into 30 liters of eco-enzyme, then dissolved into POC with a dose of 20 ml eco-enzyme: 1000 ml water, then applied to kale plants. The treatment plants showed an average increase in height of 26 percent and the number of leaves of 32 percent compared to the control. This activity has proven effective in supporting organic waste management, increasing household agricultural yields, and strengthening public awareness of environmentally friendly agriculture.

Abstract

This community service program applies the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to support the design and planning of Warung Nusa, a communal space in Denai Kuala Village, Deli Serdang, North Sumatera. As part of the Kampung Nusa initiative by HAPSARI and the development of Denai Kuala spice tourism village, this program aims to empower rural women through food security, entrepreneurship, and cultural revitalization. The method involved five ABCD stages: preparation, asset mapping, capacity building, implementation, and participatory evaluation. Local assets—such as women’s networks, household gardens, cultural stories, and the coastal landscape—were identified and mobilized to support the village’s transformation into a Spice Tourism Village (Desa Wisata Rempah). The main output was the co-design and construction of the green Warung Nusa, a communal kiosk made with locally sourced materials and designed for culinary tourism, cultural activities, and community gatherings. Results show increased community participation, enhanced women’s agency, and early economic impact through product sales and social events. The conclusion emphasizes that participatory planning and local asset mobilization are key to sustainable rural development. This program demonstrates how service-learning and design collaboration can build meaningful infrastructure while strengthening community capacity.

Abstract

The Tirto Bakti II Farmers Group faces challenges in the poultry farming sector, including high feed prices and the need for nutritionally appropriate feed. Additionally, soybean waste in this village has not been optimally utilized. The Mahasiswa Berdesa program aims to develop poultry feed based on Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot, Azolla pinnata, and soybean meal with nutrients that meet poultry needs, while also improving the local economy through the sale of products derived from BSF maggot, Azolla pinnata, and soybean meal as poultry feed. The implementation method in this program includes training and mentoring in alternative feed processing. The results of this program indicate an increase in poultry feed production, with protein content reaching 12 percent and a selling price of IDR 8,400. This alternative poultry feed innovation contributes to reducing feed costs for farmers and promotes the sustainable utilization of local resources in the village. The implementation of this program has implications for increasing community capacity in feed production, creating opportunities for entrepreneurship among villagers, and encouraging the replication of similar initiatives in other rural areas to enhance local food security and economic resilience.

Abstract

Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a major global health concern. According to the National Health Profile (Riskesdas), it was reported that 450.126 cases occurred in Indonesia (2022), with 38.204 confirmed in Kediri Regency (2023), where hypertension has become the most common non-communicable condition in East Java, which was detected in the aged 15 years old. Generally, people still consume conventional medicine to lower their blood pressure. Contrarily, herbal medicine, often regarded as a complementary or alternative option. Thus, educational strategies for integrating herbal medicine into hypertension management are needed. In Kediri, the Joyoboyo health community plays an important role in spreading awareness about hypertension. During the community service activity, 61 Joyoboyo health cadre volunteers participated in these educational sessions to help them share accurate information with the wider community. These sessions covered topics such as correct dosage, possible interactions with prescription drugs, and the importance of evidence-based herbal use for treatment. These points were reinforced through discussion and supported by analyzing the recent clinical research. A statistical evaluation was conducted to assess the program's effectiveness. Overall, the results of this activity underline the need for a multidisciplinary approach combining traditional and scientific knowledge to optimize the management of hypertension.

Abstract

Cadres play a vital role in implementing health interventions within the community. Notably, 80 percent of emergency cases involving respiratory and cardiac arrest occur outside hospital settings. Cadres contribute significantly to building motivation and confidence in the management of Basic Life Support (BLS). This activity aimed to enhance the quality of health services by empowering community health cadres in BLS management. The method employed involved socialization and training provided to 22 community health cadres across villages in Astambul District. The results showed that 68 percent of cadres demonstrated a good level of knowledge following the socialization activities. The training outcomes indicated that 90 percent of cadres correctly performed the initial safety step ("scene safety") in BLS procedures. Overall, most cadres were able to perform BLS actions accurately, particularly in the stages of checking responsiveness, calling for help, and initiating recovery. It is recommended that follow-up efforts be made to further enhance cadres’ skills, especially in applying BLS as a means of developing community potential in the health sector.

Abstract

Kelompok Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis) is an organization/institution whose purpose is to develop an area with tourism potential. The Bekacak area, Kolursari Village, Bangil Subdistrict, Pasuruan Regency, is one of the areas that Pokdarwis Banyumili sees as having tourism potential by utilizing water resources. However, these efforts have not yet run optimally because of the institutional aspect of Pokdarwis Banyumili. There are two main problems, namely human resource management and institutional governance. An effort is needed to strengthen Pokdarwis Banyumili as an institution/organization. The goal is for Pokdarwis Banyumili to become a strong institution, so that it can optimally develop the tourism potential in its area. Therefore, a community service program was carried out. The method used was through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) activities or training, which specifically provided benefits to increase the understanding of Pokdarwis Banyumili administrators/members. Materials, discussions, and simulations were provided on the topics of Pokdarwis institutional governance, environmental sustainability, tourism development, and building cooperation with other parties. Supported by digitalization by utilizing applications, social media, and websites. This can result in increased understanding and competence for the management/members of Pokdarwis Banyumili so that they can make it a strong and optimal institution in the tourism sector.

Abstract

Banyu Bening, an independent community group providing clean water and sanitation services, faces challenges related to energy consumption and water distribution management. The primary issue addressed was the high electricity cost for operating water pumps during the early stages of the business. This problem was particularly critical as the group was newly established and required appropriate technology to overcome these obstacles. Therefore, the main objective of this Community Service Program was to address Banyu Bening’s problems—specifically, the high electricity consumption and low water pressure in the distribution network. The problem-solving process involved several steps: situation analysis, focus group discussions (FGD), material identification, assembly and testing, installation, community socialization, and evaluation. The implemented solution was the installation of a 2kWp solar power system. The final assessment revealed that the system operates optimally, successfully reducing electricity costs by 70 percent.

Abstract

Managing irrigation systems in hydroponic based farming models is one of the main challenges currently being faced. The existing issue lies in the lack of accuracy and precision in providing the appropriate levels of nutrients and water to the plants. This leads to a decline in the quality of vegetable products, highlighting the urgent need to strengthen knowledge and skills in operating intelligent technology-based irrigation systems for vegetable growers. Therefore, the proposed training program based on interactive, collaborative, and practical approaches in this community service activity is a strategic step to address the partners' problems, focusing on enhancing the skills and understanding of plantation workers and the surrounding community, which is the primary goal of this activity. The training method emphasizes hands-on field practice, using pre-test and post-test results as references for developing the training materials. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding, as indicated by an average score improvement of 70.8 percent, with a total of 15 respondents. This indicates that the training was effective in improving participants' understanding and skills in using intelligent technology-based irrigation system devices.
