Abstract

The local dimming backlight technique enables liquid crystal display to present images with high contrast ratio and low power consumption. Considering that it is more important to make sure a high quality of the displayed image when reducing the power consumption, therefore, in this paper the new algorithm chooses RPSNR (the peak signal-to-noise ratio) =30 as the lowest standard to guarantee the quality of image. RPSNR =30 could provide a value that the maximum distortion of the image can be accepted, then, we substitute the maximum gray level of each region into the formula to judge whether satisfy the flow chart. If the value do not meet the condition, we decrease it one by one until find the right value. Finally, we take the luminance of the right value as backlight luminance.   Meanwhile, a method is also proposed in this paper to simplify the calculation time. Successive searches will be made on the basis of the n (ranging from 0.1 to 1) times of the maximum luminance, and stop when RPSNR>=30. However, in order to guarantee the quality of the image, the 0.7 times of the maximum luminance is used as the minimum backlight luminance. In the end, we only choose 0.7, 0.8 and 0.9 times of the maximum luminance as backlight luminance. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1602

Abstract

Actuators formed from piezoelectric ceramics were embedded in truss rods to make up active rods. The paper used mechanical knowledge, static stiffness method and the finite element method to analyze the active rod and the smart truss structure and then model them. In order to solve the difficult problem of number optimization, the paper put forward the actuator existence variable and optimized number and locations of actuators at the same time, made the structure have the best output effect, so it can reduce the displacement at the designated location of the truss structure and the structure vibration. It also can improve the truss structure accuracy. Then find the optimal solution by genetic algorithms(GA) and MATLAB programming. The results of the example show that the model this paper builds is correct and genetic algorithms are effective in solving the optimization question. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1552

Abstract

This paper studies an algorithm of automatic target tracking based on PTZ system. Select the tracking target and set up the target motion trajectory in the video screen. Along the motion trajectory, the system controls the PTZ rotation automatically to track the target real-timely. At the same time, it adjusts the zoom to enlarge or reduce to make sure the target can display on the video screen center clearly at the suitable size. By testing on groups of video, verify the effectiveness of the automatic target tracking algorithm. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1455

Abstract

This paper simplifies the energy regenerationbased vehicle velocity system of the hydraulichybrid businto a process in which the extension rod of the hydraulic cylinder drives the secondary-element variable delivery pump/motor to change its displacement. This process enables braking of the vehicle and also allows recovery of energy. The stability, energy efficiency and other characteristics of the system are studied based on analysis of mathematical models of the vehicle velocity control. The relevant controller is designed to study effects of the controller on system characteristics. The vehicle velocity control module of the energy regeneration system is stable and able to recovery the inertia energy generated in vehicle braking. After the controller intended to improve response speed is added, system response becomes quicker but energy recovery rate declines. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1565

Abstract

The purpose of detecting trace concentrations of analytes often is hindered by occurring noise in the signal curves of analytical methods. This is also a problem when different arsenic species (organic arsenic species such as arsanilic acid, nitarsone and roxarsone) are to be determined in animal meat by HPLC-UV-HG-AFS, which is the basis of this work. In order to improve the detection power, methods of signal treatment may be applied. We show a comparison of convolution with Gaussian distribution curves, Fourier transform, and wavelet transform. It is illustrated how to estimate decisive parameters for these techniques. All methods result in improved limits of detection. Furthermore, applying baselines and evaluating peaks thoroughly is facilitated. However, there are differences. Fourier transform may be applied, but convolution with Gaussian distribution curves shows better results of improvement. The best of the three is wavelet transform, whereby the detection power is improved by factors of about 2.4. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1581

Abstract

According to the situation that almost all the power quality systems (PQM) focus on the transmission network rather than the distribution network (DN), a distribution network power quality monitoring system (DNPQMS) based on metering automation systems is proposed in this paper. This DNPQMS can take full advantage of the power data collected by the existing intelligent terminals that set throughout the DN. The DNPQMS is divided into three parts, including equipment layer, data layer and application layer. The equipment layer consists of power quality monitoring devices, including the power quality monitoring device based on dual-CPU platform and intelligent terminals of other manufacturers. The data layer completes the power data storage and integrated that collected by the intelligent terminals. The application layer completes the day-to-day maintenance and management of the system as well as a number of advanced applications. The verification of the DNPQMS by application is presented at the end of the paper. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1450

Abstract

VRLA can be the energy storing device of the HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle), photovoltaic system and so on. The most important factor that restricts the improvement of these fields is the service lifetime of the battery cannot reach the expectation. In the charging process, traditional charging method has serious polarization phenomenon. It will decrease its service life. Aimed at the purpose of reducing the polarization phenomenon, this paper proposed the changing current depolarization pulse charging method which is combining the dynamic model of the battery on the basis of analyzing the existential issues in the pulse charging method. By building the hardware circuit to achieve the function and verify their feasibility. The results indicate that, compared with pulse charging method, the new method makes battery fully charged in shorter time obviously and the temperature of batteries rise more slowly. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1560

Abstract

In OFDM-PON system, the synchronization signal is very important. We use  synchronization signal to get a whole OFDM signal. Due to the real-time system,  we  need  to  get  the  fast  change  signal.  So  get  a  true  signal  is  very important and very hard. That is to say, we need to design an excellent algorithm to get finish this demand. This is another point of this project. In the paper, the author designed a new algorithm to solve the problems. we use some simulations  to  compare  the  performances  of  different  algorithms  to  get  the further  understanding.  In  the  experiment,  we  use  more  detail  algorithms  to estimate if it is useful in real-time OFDM-PON system. When the SNR is 10, we can get the synchronization signal correctly. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1576

Abstract

In this paper, a novel GPS (Global Positioning System) and DR (Dead Reckoning) system which was based on the accelerometer and gyroscope integrated system was designed and implemented. In this system, the odometer used in traditional DR system was replaced by a MEMS tri-axis accelerometer in order to decrease the cost and the volume of the system. The system was integrated by the Kalman filter and a new mathematical model was introduced. In order to reasonably use the GPS information, an adaptive algorithm based on single measurement system which could estimate the measurement noise covariance was obtained. On the purpose of reducing the effect of the accumulated error caused by drift and bias of accelerometer, the accelerometer was calibrated online when GPS performed well. In this way, the integrated system could not only obtain the high-precision positioning in real time, but also perform stably in practice. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1603
