Abstract

Needle roller thrust bear is small in size and of high ability in load bearing, therefore it is widely used in fields of aviation and automobile etc.  But the relation between their service life and pre-tightening torque is not very clear, so the using design of the bear depends mainly on experience of engineer, because of lack of references. In the paper, the theoretical analysis on relation between torque and load is done, special wearing test instrument is developed and wearing test of thrust needle bear is conducted. Based on the results of the test, mathematical model of relation between the losing amount of pre-tightening torque and the pre-tightening torque is built, based on which use of the bear in engineering will be more reasonable, and their pre-tightening torque will be given more accurately. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1553

Abstract

Classification plays a significant role in change detection when monitoring the evolution of the Earth’s surface. This paper proposes a novel object-oriented framework for the unsupervised classification of high-resolution remote sensing images based on Jenks’ optimization. The fractal net evolution approach is employed as an image segmental technique, the spectral feature of each image object is extracted, and an algorithm of Jenks’ optimization is adopted as a classifier. Two experiments with different image platforms are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed framework and to compare with other traditional unsupervised classification algorithms such as the iterative self-organizing data analysis technique algorithm and k-means clustering algorithms. The proposed approach is found to be feasible and valid. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1571

Abstract

Multiple versions will be produced in the process of complex products developing. There are mass data of product components in different types and formats and relationships between components. Traditional researches of version management model concentrate on the information of single object rather than that of multi-objects and relationships between them, so it is difficult to manage the versions of complex product. A version management model based on the association of generalized domains was presented according to the polychromatic graph theory in the paper, and dynamic variations, features and rules of the association in version evolution were studied, and a version management system for controller software was developed. Examples show that the association model of generalized version based on the poly-chromatic graph realizes the effective management of the complex product developing. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1548

Abstract

Current genetic algorithm require both management of huge amounts of data and heavy computation, fulfilling these requirements calls for simple ways to implement parallel computing. In this paper, serial genetic algorithm was designed to parallel GA; this technology appears to be particularly well adapted to this task. Here we introduce two related mechanism: elite reserve strategy and MPI. The first can increase the possible to get the optimal solution of the population, while the message passing interface MPI support is adding to form a new coarse-grain model of distributed parallel genetic algorithm. This new algorithm is tested by the classical and effective Knapsack problem, analysis shows that, the introduction of the parallel strategies can reduce the communication between different machines and the scheduling time of the heterogeneous system, thereby accelerate the traditional genetic algorithm search process, ultimately concluded that the parallel genetic algorithm is very promising and this framework could have a wide range of applications while maintaining good computational efficiency, scalability and ease of maintenance. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1566

Abstract

Storage has emerged as a typical kind of service in the cloud environment as the content delivery network (CDN) emerges and becomes widely-used. In this paper, we conducted a research on the management issues for such applications, and implemented some meta-services upon the underlying cloud services. The architecture of the system was described in detailed and the detailed design of four types of meta-services was further discussed. The implementation of the key components was presented one by one, depicting the functionalities of these meta-services. Experimental results show that the implemented prototype can work effectively and meaningful suggestions could be given according to users’ requests, and thus exhibit the advantages of employing the proposed meta-services. Moreover, by presenting a special case study, the feasibility and usability of meta-services in the CDN is further illustrated. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1582

Abstract

Mechanical theorem proving in geometry plays an important role in the research of automated reasoning. In this paper, we introduce three kinds of computerized methods for geometrical theorem proving: the first is Wu’ s  method in the international community, the second is Elimination Point Method.; and the third is lower Dimension Method. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1451

Abstract

The estimation accuracy of batteries’ State of Charge (SOC) plays an important role in the development of hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). Accurate estimation of SOC can prevent battery from overly charging and discharging, so the lifetime of batteries will be increased. Although Kalman filter algorithm has better estimation accuracy for HEV application in which the current changes fast, Kalman filter algorithm deeply relies on the battery model. In other words, the accuracy of batteries’ SOC estimation needs precise batteries models. Besides, when the HEV is running, the statistical characteristics of noise produced in the course of the battery management system collecting data are unknown. This can cause estimated performance of Kalman filter algorithm to decrease even diffuse. To solve the problem, adaptive Kalman filter algorithm is adopted to estimate battery SOC based on the second order RC battery model in this paper. Through MATLAB simulation analysis, the estimation accuracy of battery SOC is improved to some extent. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1561

Abstract

Partial discharge is a main factor which causes cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable damaged. In order to research the Partial Discharge detecting methods of 10kV XLPE power cable, the electrostatic field is firstly simulated in order to analysis the electric filed at the distortion of the cable. According to the simulation mode, portable thermal infrared imager and ultraviolet imaging instrument is utilized to detect partial discharge of power cable terminals. The experimental results demonstrate that the use of ultraviolet imaging instrument to detect the location of defects is efficient and can observe corona photons; and thermal infrared imager can detect the temperature rising caused by Partial discharge. And this result also verified the simulation result that electric field concentration resulted in partial discharge. Test results also show that in short period of time partial discharge changes not much. This is mainly because the energy caused by PD does not accumulate so much in short time. That is contributing to the discovery of potential defects. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1577

Abstract

Power losses of a novel high speed hydraulic on/off valve including four transitions during its switching between on and off states are analyzed and modeled using mathematical equations related to the geometric parameters of the on/off valve and hydraulic system parameters. The dynamic response of the on/off valve is investigated by using feedback of axial position of the spool of valve which is driven axially by a gerotor pump. A fuzzy logic parameter self-tuning PID controller is used to overcome the system nonlinearity and simulation result shows that the overshoot is decreased greatly than conventional PID controller. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1604

Abstract

Static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is a widely used power electronic device to achieve dynamic reactive power compensation and improve the power quality of the system. The ip-iq current detecting method is generally used for STATCOM reactive and harmonic command current detecting. However, it is required that the compensation point of STATCOM be the same as the load current detecting point when using the traditional ip-iq method, limiting the flexibility to choose the installation position of STATCOM. To solve this problem, this paper proposed an improved ip-iq reactive and harmonic current detecting method, both voltage phase angles of the load point and the STATCOM point are used, making the installation position of STATCOM no longer limited by the load current detecting point. The improved ip-iq current detecting method is applied in the DT-STATCOM system, and the simulation results verify the correctness and effectiveness of the improved ip-iq current detecting method. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1554
