In order to design and implement a wave compensation system to reduce the relative motion between two side-by-side ships in waves, a new method to process measured data of ship model test with contact measurement to study the characteristics of relative motion was presented. The reference co-ordinate systems and relative motions were defined, and the scheme of the model test was described. Then the Empirical Mode Decomposition(EMD) adaptive filter were designed, the frequency domain integration transform method based upon Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) were established. The procedure to transform acceleration signal into displacement was proposed and verified, and the processing results with and without EMD adaptive filter were compared. Finally, the relative motions consistent with reality were acquired, which indicates this method is effective for measured data processing. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i1.1872

With the rapid growth of power system, it is becoming increasingly difficult to realize reach and time coordination for conventional backup protection. To cope with those problems, wide-area protection is widely researched. In this paper, a novel dynamic cooperation mechanism of wide-area protection is proposed, which can operate better than distributed and centralized systems with respect to reliability, section selectivity, and so on. The multi-agents technology is used to enhance adaptability and decrease communication traffic of wide-area protection system. The improvement of backup protection performance to overcome some specific conditions, such as communication bit error, protection failure, and breaker failure, is also illustrated by utilizing communication networks and distributed protection agents which enables an easy and flexible construction and operation of the proposed wide-area protection system. The example analysis on IEEE 5 nodes system shows the concrete cooperation processing among agents in the cases of typical faults. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i1.1888

Our paper represents a vision system based on the laser measurement system (LMS) for bulk ship inspection. The LMS scanner with 2-axis servo system is installed on the ship loader to build the shape of the ship. Then, a group of real-time image processing algorithms are implemented to compute the shape of the cargo hold, the inclination angle of the ship and the relative position between the ship loader and the cargo hold. Based on those computed inspection data of the ship, the ship loader can accomplish the bulk cargo loading operation automatically. Finally, our paper describes and analyzes the experiment of the Laser Vision System in Coal Terminal of Tianjin Port. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i1.1904

This paper proposed an improved algorithm applied in video intelligent traffic control system for vehicle detection. The accuracy of original algorithm, which is based on the comparision of contrast and luminance distortion of present image with background, reduces greatly under bad weather because of false detection caused by noises in captured images. In this paper we chose Daubechies wavelet as mother wavelet to add a 2-dimension wavelet process before the algorithm, just after the imageis captured, to de-noise each captured image. We used FPGA-based equipments to test the algorithm, and the experiment proved higher performance of improved algorithm, especially under bad weather. http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i1.1916

In modulation and demodulation methods of the optical Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Key (DQPSK) and the different modulation formats including nonreturn-to-zero(NRZ), return-to-zero (RZ), carrier-suppressed return-to-zero(CS-RZ) are introduced, studying the different optical signals in the 40Gb/s high speed transmission system. The system is simulated in 200km optical fiber by way of dispersion compensation. It is showed that the ability of anti-dispersion and anti-PMD (Polarization Mode Dispersion) is better in the CS-RZ-DQPSK modulation format, and this format has the smallest eye-opening penalty (EOP) with a wider range of power into the optical fiber. The performance of the optical frequency comb generation based on the re-circulating frequency shifter has been analyzed and demonstrated in this paper. We have theoretically analyzed the condition for flatness of the optical frequency comb and the relative intensity noise influence. We find out the influence to the flatness of optical comb owing to amplifier relative intensity noise and modulator relative factors imperfect, such as input RF signals amplitude and phase deviation and modulator defect owing to manufacture for the first time. Moreover, to verify the theoretical analysis, a 16 comb lines and spacing 12.5 GHz RFS generation system have also been carried out, and the results are in good agreement with the theoretical analysis results. In recent years, with the excellence performance in the system spectrum efficiency, MIMO technology has become the concerned topic in the mobile communication technology development process. In order to make better use of MIMO technology, the characteristics of MIMO channel had to be studied, and it is inevitable to accurately model and simulate MIMO wireless channels in different conditions. Wireless communication environment is very complex, so it is difficult to modeling of MIMO channel. In this paper, carrier wave frequency, the maximum Doppler frequency shift, AOA (Angle of Arrival) distribution, power azimuth spectrum and adjacent antenna spacing were token into account integrating. Expressions of the spatial correlation coefficient for different power azimuth spectrum (PAS) distributions were studied. A MIMO channel model was brought forward which has spatial selectivity, frequency selectivity, and time correlation. Simulation shows this related channel capacity is consistent with theoretical channel capacity. Thereby the rationality of this modeling was validated. This model provides powerful implement for simulation of MIMO capability, analysis of system capacity and evaluation of performance. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i1.1883

High voltage circuit-breaker is an important equipment in electric system. The study on fault diagnosis of high voltage circuit-breaker would not only strengthens the security and stability of power system but also increases the economic benefit of it. Obtaining the diagnosis rules is the hardest part in building fault diagnosis expert system. This article analyses the fault samples data of high voltage circuit-breaker by rough set theory, and get diagnosis rules from it. The case shows the method is practical and feasible. The three-phase rectifier based on traditional PID control algorithm can improve its harmonic effect, and increase its power factor, but it can’t overcome the problems of selection difficulty of the PID parameters and can realize the online self-turning function of the PID parameters. In order to deal with the questions, the three phase rectifier based on neural network PID control algorithm is designed in this paper. In this paper, the PID parameters of the novel rectifier can realize the function of the online self-turning, which increases the design efficiency and the control accuracy. The simulation results show that the three phase rectifier based on improved PID control algorithm can decrease the harmonic pollution and increase its power factor. Traditional cascade multilevel inverter can only transmit one-direction of energy. This paper proposes a new cascade multilevel inverter topology and control strategy based on part units to realize the energy feedback. By using PWM converter to replace uncontrollable converter in part units of the traditional inverter, and combining the inverter with H-bridge inverter, the two-direction running of the cascade inverter is realized. A double closed loop control strategy is used to obtain fine control characteristic of input current. The carrier phase-shifted SPWM technology is adopted in the cascade inverter to reduce harmonious wave of output voltage and current, meanwhile, a new type of bypass control method is proposed to collect all the feedback energy and restore it into the energy feedback units. According to the simulation of a three-phase and five-unit cascaded inverter with three energy feedback units, the results demonstrate that the proposed inverter can be input near sinusoidal current , and realize two-way flow of energy automatically with simplified phase shifting transformer structure, and show its feasibility and effectiveness.
