Abstract

This paper presents the simulation and optimization design of the electronically tunable impedance-matching networks for intelligent RF power amplifiers in a cognitive radio system. Reconfigurable elements, such as varactors and RF switches are utilized to achieve the dynamic impedance matching both in the input and output matching circuit, providing coarse and fine tuning of the target impedances with low loss and excellent impedance coverage from 500MHz to 800MHz. The topology of varactor model is illustrated to ensure the precision of simulation. In addition, high-precision bias voltage controlling system is designed to improve the nonlinear problem caused by the varactor. The simulation results demonstrate the excellent performance of the tunable networks, satisfying the requirement of the cognitive radio systems. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3514

Abstract

This paper presents an improved LEACH protocol to save energy and enhance network security for wireless sensor networks. All nodes are distributed evenly in sensing area. The sensing area is divided into a number of small squares called cells, and a cluster consists of four cells. The cluster structure does not change in whole network lifetime. A cell head is chosen in each cell and a cluster head is selected from four cell heads in each cluster. The data are transmitted from clusters to the base station by employing the multi-hop manner. All nodes that communicate each other establish pairwise keys. Analysis demonstrates that the new routing protocol saves more node energy, distributes energy consumption to all nodes more evenly, prolongs more lifetime for WSNs than the LEACH protocol dose. Moreover, it enhances the security for WSNs. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3530

Abstract

To suppress the influence of impulsive noise spikes (outliers) from the direction of arrival of the desired GPS signals, a combination of the Householder multistage Wiener filter (HMSWF) and the recently introduced Minimum Module Cascaded Canceller (MMCC) is employed to compose a hybrid structured HMSWF (HS-HMSWF) method. The enhanced algorithm is employed by space-time anti-jamming processing in GPS receiver, with the ability of natural protection against the impulsive noise spikes influence of weights calculation. In space signal processing, it can avoid the zero pitch formed at the direction of target signal, and prevent the desired signal be diminished. Simulation results demonstrated the favorable anti-jamming performance of the proposed algorithm. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3556

Abstract

Due to the nonlinear P-I characteristic of fuel cells, it is very important to implement a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller for practical applications. Based on analyzing the output characteristics of fuel cell power system, this paper presents extremum seeking sliding mode control method for MPPT of fuel cell power system under variable temperature and water content conditions. The approach is a combination of the extremum seeking and sliding mode methods. The simulation results show that the approach improves clearly the tracking efficiency of the maximum power available at the output of the fuel cell modules. The new method reduces the oscillations around the MPP, which has shown better performances. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.2976

Abstract

BP neural network algorithm is a non-linear optimal method and is a hot research field for its powerful simulation calculation ability in various disciplines in recent years, but the algorithm has some shortages such as low convergence which limited the application of the algorithm. The paper improves original BP neural network with immune genetic algorithm to speed up its calculation convergence and presents a new BP neural network algorithm for evaluating English education performance. Firstly, an indicator system for evaluating English education performance is constructed through four aspects of university, teacher, student and teaching effect; Secondly, immune genetic algorithm is used to improve standard BP neural network algorithm, in which the specific measures are taken to integrate BP neural network algorithm and immune genetic algorithm, and the calculation procedures of the improved algorithm is redesigned. Finally data from of three universities are taken for examples to verify the validity and feasibility of the improved algorithm and the experimental results indicate that the algorithm has favorable evaluation results in evaluation accuracy and calculation convergence. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.2970

Abstract

The correlation of adjacent pixels is one of the important parameters for measuring the distribution of adjacent pixels’ gray value. And it is widely used to evaluate the scrambling degree of digital image. Distribution figures are always plotted to show the relation of adjacent pixels’ gray value, but only subjective and qualitative analysis has been applied to explain the uniformity of dots in these figures so far. In order to evaluate their uniformity quantitatively and objectively, two approaches are advanced: average gray difference method and block uniformity method. And, two blind evaluating methods on the image scrambling degree are presented further according to the former. Simulation results show that both of the two approaches can describe the uniformity of distribution figures of adjacent pixels’ gray value quantitatively and objectively. They can be operated with just a little data of a cipher image and without using any data of plain image. These two evaluation methods on image scrambling degree are in a good agreement with the Human Vision System, and they can achieve the goal of objective and fast blind evaluation. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3496

Abstract

The Island is a k nearest neighbor query algorithm of moving objects based on road networks and can effectively balance the performance of query and update. But the algorithm doesn’t consider the direction of moving object which is required in many scenarios. It traverses vertexes from all directions, meaning wasting a lot of time in visiting useless vertexes. Besides, it doesn’t return query path. In this paper, we propose an improved Island algorithm which takes full account of moving direction. It takes best point estimate and heuristic search method, effectively reducing the number of traversal vertexes. At the same time, we optimize the data structure and let it return the query path. Results show that the improved algorithm outperforms the original one. Finally, we describe electric vehicle charging guidance system based on the improved Island algorithm. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3509

Abstract

A model reference adaptive control method is proposed for uncertain nonlinear characteristics of spacecraft attitude control system. This method combines fuzzy control methodology and nonlinear feedback linearization methodology, which made the closed-loop system stable and the state of fuzzy system track the state of reference model according to the parallel distributed compensation theory and the rational design of the fuzzy state feedback control law. The nonlinear closed-loop system was linearized by selecting fuzzy state feedback parameters and fuzzy membership function. Then an adaptive control law was designed by Lyapunov function. As a result the system can be adaptive to all kinds of parameter uncertainties and robust to modeling inaccuracy and external disturbance. Meanwhile, the simulation results indicate that the control law can quickly guarantee the stability of the spacecraft attitude and be robust to model perturbations and external disturbances. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3549

Abstract

A LDPC code-aided frame synchronization algorithm based on likelihood ratio value threshold is proposed and analyzed in this paper. For soft information vectors with different frame offsets, the likelihood ratio value presenting the probability ratio of satisfaction of all check restrictions and dissatisfaction of all check restrictions are computed respectively, and then the point larger than a threshold is chosen as the final frame synchronization bounder. The method to select the threshold is studied theoretically and is analyzed according to simulation result. And Frame synchronization error ratio of new algorithm is derived. Compared to exiting LDPC code-aided frame synchronization algorithm based on maximum LLR, new algorithm saves synchronization searching time. Synchronization performance simulation results of new algorithm are given and analyzed.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3721
