Abstract

Variable frequency devices are widely used in many power systems. A current tracking based VFD is proposed in this paper. The output current is firstly fed back and compared with a standard sine wave, the difference of them is then used for a PI regulator to control the PWM signal, so as to change the output current accordingly to make it approach the standard sine wave. Simulation and experiments results show that the current tracking VFD not only has a fast dynamic response, high current tracking precision, current limiting ability, but also has small distortion of the output sine wave current and low loss of the motor. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3508

Abstract

Transformer differential protection may be of malfunction at the emergence of inrush current, and it will affect the normal operation of the transformer. So the paper puts forward a new application of wavelet energy spectrum entropy-neural network theory in transformer microcomputer protection, in which the multi-resolution analysis of wavelet transform and information entropy technology are combined firstly and forms a new conception named wavelet energy spectrum entropy, and it will be put into neural network theory as the feature vector, forms the new algorithm in the end. This method decomposes signal through wavelet transform, and  extracts the high frequency part of energy in each scale of wavelet transform from inrush current signal and the short circuit current signal, and calculates the wavelet energy entropy value, which will be as the input feature vector of modified BP neural network. And this feature vector is used as training characteristic value for training in BP neural network. According to the measured data of the system, it has achieved good effect. At the same time, for the large amount of calculation and the high requirements of signal sampling rate in wavelet energy entropy - neural network algorithm, a new idea which uses the high-speed hardware platform of FPGA to realize the algorithm application is put forward, and it will break the bottleneck of traditional microcomputer protection that the MCU would not give consideration to both the speed and the accuracy of the protection at the same time.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3524

Abstract

To precisely locate the grounded fault area in distribution network with DG, a new grounded fault area location algorithm based on three-phase impedance model and fault features in distribution network with DG is proposed in this paper. This method establishes three-phase impedance model if the distribution network with DG, analyzes and extracts the fault characteristics on the basis of the three phase impedance model of distribution network with DG. According to the characteristic of the feature value in the fault point, this method traverses all the nodes and gets the fault associated nodes. The method proposed in this paper was tested in a sixty nodal distribution system with six DGs, the result of the method verifies that the method can precisely locate the grounded fault area in distribution network with DG. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3548

Abstract

In order to accelerate the coding process of JPEG2000 and avoid encoding useless codes, a new algorithm is proposed for JPEG2000 rate control. This algorithm is improved by the model prediction algorithm. The code passes transmit the lowest frequency sub-band without distortion after wavelet decomposition. Then the proposed algorithm allocates the rate for the current code block accords to the number of coding passes and the weight of wavelet quantization. At last, it encodes the code block which brings the greatest amount of information preferentially, accords to the code block bit-plane relationship in the sub-band; In addition, the algorithm truncates the code-stream in real time during the encoding procedure. Compared with the PCRD algorithm, the experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm can greatly reduce the computation operation and encoding time. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3720

Abstract

Smart grid is the focus development direction of the national power grid construction, and remote power information collection is the important part of smart grid. The existing automatic meter reading system of remote electric power information collection has such problems as high cost, big power consumption, small networking and big line interference etc. Aim at these features, this paper proposes a new scheme of wireless meter reading based on GPRS, that is, the wireless communication module MC55 of SIMENS and STC89C58RD single chip are adopted as the core to develop a set of remote wireless meter reading system. The paper mainly introduces the overall design of the system, the hardware circuit and software design of each component, and the major software flow chart is given. The system has the characteristic of low cost, low power consumption, ad-Hoc network, self adaption, etc, and it has the strong portability and compatibility. Field test results show that the wireless meter reading system can finish the data collection and transmission task quickly and accurately, and has strong anti-interference ability and wide applicability. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.2946

Abstract

This paper presents a moving vehicle detection and tracking system, which comprising of Horizontal Edges method and Local AutoCorrelation. Horizontal Edges characteristic can be strengthened and the influence of weather condition is reduced by using Local AutoCorrelation, so the detection rate of extracting and tracking moving vehicles with horizontal edge can be raised. Local AutoCorrelation images are generated for vehicle detection and based on Horizontal Edges method. The distance of the gravity center of Horizontal Edges is used to track vehicles in traffic video. We verify the system using a variety of weather (in fog, car shadow existence, morning and evening) traffic video. Experimental results have shown that the high detection rate of moving vehicles be obtained by using the proposed method. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3485

Abstract

Because of the solid foundation, mature technology, rich products of relational database ,it has been the first consideration for studying and storing the massive data. How to build an effective knowledge base based on the powerful storage and processing capability is always the key issue for the research and application of knowledge engineering and intelligent system ,but also the bottleneck knowledge management turns into the application of technology .In this paper ,a relational model of semantic network has been given and discusses with examples the storage of relational data table based on the semantic network knowledge representation. Once semantic network relational model  established, the knowledge base that based on semantic network will be set up. In this paper, Semantic network knowledge base query algorithm is studied. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3502

It proposes a complete solution for the target segment: MMM, WWW, F&B, Medium Hydro power. The scopes of the solution discussed in this paper are the process and field part of the IPLCbIE architecture. For the process part the scope of our design includes the controllers, the engineering software tools (Unity Pro) and the interfaces with the other equipment of this level, typically other controllers or tools like asset management, SCADA or OPC server. Safety and HSBY controllers are also part of our design. For the field part, the scope of our program includes the remote I/Os and the interfaces with the other equipment of this level, typically distributed I/Os & devices. Abstract

In this study, we purpose a common fuzzy multiple criteria decision making model. A brand new concept - fuzzy time weighted scheme is adopted for considering in the model to establish a fuzzy multiple criteria decision making with time weight (FMCDMTW) model. A real case of fuzzy multiple criteria decision making (FMCDM) problems to be considering in this study. The performance evaluation of auction websites based on all criteria proposed in related literature. Obviously, the problem under investigated is a FMCDM problem with historic data and recent data. Since the evaluated criteria proposed in the literature cannot be defined precisely and numerically, fuzzy linguistic terms can be used to aggregate them numerically.  It not only conforms to human cognition but also benefits interpretation. Furthermore, notice that the literature considered contains certain amount of historic data. Equally weighted historic data is usually considered in FMCDM problems, and this approach would introduce bias owing to the collected data for a certain long time period.  As a result, fuzzy time weighted technique is adopted to resolve this issue. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3540

Abstract

Visual attention is a mechanism which filters out redundant visual information and focus on the most relevant parts when observing an image, many bottom-up computational models of visual attention have been devised to get the saliency map for an image. In this paper, a new visual attention model is proposed.Based on the experimental results obtained in this study, as compared with existing bottom-up visual model, the proposed model has better visual detection performance and low computational complexity. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3582
