Abstract

This paper aims to study the selection of features based on ECG in emotion recognition. In the process of features selection, we start from existing feature selection algorithm, and pay special attention to some of the intuitive value on ECG waveform as well. Through the use of ANOVA and heuristic search, we picked out the different features to distinguish joy and pleasure these two emotions, then we combine this with pathological analysis of ECG signals by the view of the medical experts to discuss the logic corresponding relation between ECG waveform and emotion distinguish. Through experiment, using the method in this paper we only picked out five features and reached 92% of accuracy rate in the recognition of joy and pleasure. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2215

Abstract

The realization of automatic control system of releasing flocculating agent is one of the bottlenecks in the automation process of waterworks. For various reasons, most of waterworks in China decide the dosing amount just by artificial methods, which may lead to great subjectivity. It can result in direct economic losses and threaten residents’ drinking water safety. To solve the problem, based on digital image processing and pattern recognition technology, the paper presents an advanced and practical automation scheme, trying to control the releasing of flocculating agent. According to the characteristics of alum images captured from waterworks, by comparing the effects of many vision algorithms, the paper selects a suitable combination and tries to implement it with EmguCV. On next step, the paper implements feature selection and classification with LibSVM. The experiments show that, the system designed in this paper is reasonable and feasible. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2299

Abstract

Design of a electrical impedance tomography system based on virtual instrument, the author firstly introduced the virtual instrument into the electrical impedance imaging from the perspective of hardware and software. The system use DAQ of NI to simplify the hardware structure and improve the stability. Software of system combines the advantages of LABVIEW and MATLAB, and verify some algorithms. Using NI virtual instrument, the system has strong expansion and do good basis for enhancing the performance of electrical impedance imaging system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2319

Abstract

On the basis of the configuration characteristics of man-made forests, the spread model of wireless sensor signal in man-made forests has been simplified according to electromagnetic wave theory and Fermat principle. The man-made forests is decomposed into independent medium with four layers, the spread model is simplified into free space model, attenuation screen model and absorption screen model. The field intensity calculation formulas of UHF frequency range attenuation screen and absorption screen has been discussed, which provides basis for optimization layout of sensor and offers theoretical basis of other radio frequency communication research in man-made forests. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2186

Abstract

The comprehensive electronic information systems architecture is an important part of arming information-based construction, so the architecture description approach is needed to be studied with the system optimization simultaneously. In order to support system optimization, an architecture description approach of information systems is studied with the multi-perspective point’s method. Based on the data of the architecture description models, this article will analysis the data form of the description model and the logic relation of the data therefore the architecture description models can be used to optimize information systems architecture.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2210

Abstract

During the lifespan of electronic products, the output voltage and current fluctuate due to the random fluctuations of parameter values of circuit components and environmental noise. Extant methods of circuit designs, such as parameter sweep and sensitivity analysis, are hard to obtain global robust optimization of output characteristics. This paper proposes a SVR-based robust parameter design approach to reach global circuit optimization. First, the approach fits an empirical model of process responses by using SVR. Next, it introduces the fluctuations of controllable factor variations and noise factors into response model by probability density functions, and calculates process means and variances by integration. Finally, it obtains optimal parameter combination by model optimization. An empirical study of the robust design of an inductor-resistor series circuit is conducted. The results show that the proposed approach not only avoids the disadvantage of ignoring interactions between factors when using parameter sweep and sensitivity analysis, but also overcomes the shortcoming of only achieving non-continuous optimization by Taguchi method and the limitation of obtaining local optimization by DRSM, and therefore, enhances the robustness of the circuit outputs. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2228

Abstract

In reverse engineering applications, there is a problem of precise alignment from measured data to a CAD model. This paper presents a new method where the measurement points can be precisely aligned with its corresponding CAD model. Initially, the measured data is aligned approximately through a least-square method with the minimum distance principle. Based on this initial alignment result, the precise alignment is completed through the Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm and the Simplex method. The experimental results show that the alignment algorithm proposed in this paper possesses an accuracy of 0.055m and spending less processing time than the genetic algorithm. Therefore, the proposed method is effective for the measured data alignment to the original surface model. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2310

Abstract

The prediction of regional sulfur dioxide (SO2) emission of thermal power belongs to gray system which has small amounts of samples and little information, so a appropriate forecasting method is essential. Based on thermal power industry SO2 emission data from state department authorities, considering the main factors of China's thermal power industry SO2 predicted emission, we established a combination prediction model connecting gray prediction model with BP neural network model to predict SO2 emission, and we get more satisfied prediction. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2181

Abstract

Three-D rounding photography system is an application of Desktop Virtual Reality. It takes the pictures around the objects with the computer, and then deasl with them for the 360 degree display in the local computer or a web page. The Three-D visual sense and image real-time amplification of this system are the key technical problems. This paper researches on this system and proposes a new solution based on the Silverlight technology togher withan improved triangle internal interpolation method based on the barycentric coordinates properties for the image real-time amplification. The experimental results show that the solution meets the visual sense and interaction Requirements of the Three-D Rounding Photography system. And the improved algorithm reduces the operation time efficiently, thus it has some practical value. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2205

Abstract

To solve the problem of the inaccurate segmentation for the gray image, a modified algorithm based on the mean shift is introduced. The modified algorithm constructs a novel kernel function histogram by combing the position information and the gray-scale information of a pixel, and then makes use of the mean shift algorithm with this new kernel function histogram to automatically detect the modes in the gray-scale image, which could be constructed fully by the kernel function defined above, filter and segment the gray image. Experiments based on a gray image with ground background are carried out by Canny, Sobel and the proposed mean shift method, and the results show that the mean shift algorithm could effectively extract not only bright object but also weak object, and the result of the introduced algorithm is more fit factual scene than that of the usual segmentation algorithm such as Canny and Sobel algorithm. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2223
